2 Lincoln Land Community College Welcome to Lincoln Land Community College. We are pleased that you are able to join us and help cheer our teams on to victory. This year’s sports programs promise to offer excitement, enthusiasm and success. We are proud of our student athletes and their coaches. They have worked hard to prepare for the season’s many challenges and they really appreciate your attendance at these athletic events. We have a proud tradition of fielding competitive athletic teams, but victory takes many forms. We expect our athletes to be winners in the contest, in the classroom and in life. Intercollegiate athletics play an important part in the community life of our college. The men and women participating on the various teams have a unique opportunity to grow both as athletes and as students. In doing so, they gain information, insights and skills that will carry them forward as they seek the path to achieve their goals. Futures are the true strength of our athletics program. Love, Mom, Dad, Feleshia and Payton Grandpa and Grandma Selby Grandpa and Grandma Long JOHN MARSAGLIA Head Softball Coach Coach John Marsaglia begins his fifth season as head softball coach at LLCC. The Laddy Loggers made school history in 2013 as being the first softball team to make it to nationals. The Loggers finished ninth at the NJCAA Nationals in Clinton, Miss. Coach Marsaglia’s win/loss record at LLCC is 136-87 (2010-2013). He was selected Coach of the Year (Mid-West Athletic Conference) 2010, 2011 and 2012. He is a retired middle school principal who has also coached softball competitively with ASA/NSA travel softball, high school softball and junior college teams. Coach Marsaglia has provided pitching instruction (Cobra Style Pitching Academy) to more than 60 youth softball players from . He has been a softball clinician on pitching, catching, and slap hitting as well as coaching fundamentals. Coach Marsaglia was a coach for the Central Illinois Lightning and the Illinois Bandits ASA travel teams (1992-2003). He was also a board member with the Lincoln Land Junior Olympic Softball Association (located at UIS Complex) from 1993-1998. Coach Marsaglia is married to Jeanie and they have two daughters (Brianne and Kristen). Brianne Marsaglia graduated from LLCC and played softball for Coach Jim Davis from 1998-2000. In addition to coaching softball at LLCC, Coach Marsaglia is an adjunct professor at LLCC.

JOE ZIMMERMAN Assistant Coach Assistant Coach Zimmerman is a retired high school principal who has an extensive background in coaching softball. He has coached at the high school level and as a summer competitive ASA coach for more than 14 years. Coach Zimmerman also coached the Bloomington Hearts Women’s Softball Team (Women’s Majors) for six years. As a coach, he has had the pleasure of coaching his two daughters, Jenna and Jessica (Jenna played softball at LLCC 1998-2000) in summer ASA travel softball. Coach Zimmerman has also coached and at Mt. Pulaski High School. He is a graduate of Illinois State University.

KURT WINDISCH Assistant Coach This is Assistant Coach Windisch’s fourth year with our team. He will work with the players on speed and agility, base running and slap hitting. Coach Windisch is a former national bodybuilding champion and trainer who worked with athletes of all ages from fundamental movement training to competitive sprinting. He has coached multiple sports for more than eight years including softball, track and field, and basketball. As a speed trainer at the Hitting Center in Springfield, Coach Windisch has instructed and trained state champion sprinters as well as some of the fastest softball players in the area. He is a board member of Land of Lincoln Junior Olympic Softball and currently coaches the Hitting Center 18A travel softball team and both junior high softball and track and field teams at Christ the King School.

10 Lincoln Land Community College JEN KUSAK, MS, ATC Certified Athletic Trainer, AthletiCare Jen Kusak begins her third year as the athletic trainer for the Loggers. She is employed by St. John’s Hospital/AthletiCare. She comes to Springfield from the Bloomington area, after spending two years with Normal Community High School and two years with Olympia High School. Kusak received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in athletic training from Illinois State University. Prior to attending ISU, she played for two seasons at Lincoln Christian College (now Lincoln Christian University). Kusak resides in Decatur with her husband Joey.

12 Lincoln Land Community College WHITLEY ALEXYS BAKER #21 Pitcher/First Base/Outfield • Sophomore • 5’8” Parents: Jeff & Patti Baker Major: Special Education Whitley is a 2012 graduate of Meridian High School. She was a four-year softball letter winner and holds the home run record at Meridian. Softball honors she received during her high school career were the Rookie of the Year Award (freshman), Spirit Award (freshman), Hawk Hustle Award (sophomore) and MVP (junior). She was named to the Macon All-County second team. Whitley earned Academic All-Conference honors her freshman year in college. She plans to transfer to a four-year school, finish her degree in special education with a minor in behavioral science. Her favorite sports teams are the Chicago Bears, Indiana Hoosiers and the USA and softball teams.

PAYTON BILLUPS #16 Outfield • Sophomore • 5’7” Parents: Dunavan Billups & Julie Bruneau Major: Math Payton graduated from Streator High School in 2012. She played varsity softball all four years. Honors she received were Rookie of the Year in 2010, and the Most Valuable Outfielder her junior year. She was named to the Big 12 All-Conference first team and the All-Academic team. She helped SHS win regional championships in 2009 and 2010. Payton was selected for the 2013 Region XXIV All-Region Team – first team, designated hitter. Payton will attend Illinois State University and study accounting and actuarial science. She is a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

She holds the high school record for the most doubles in a season (13). She was selected for the Okaw Valley All-Conference team (first team in 2012, second team in 2011). She was named to the Macon All-County second team in 2011 and 2012. Laura was chosen as the 2012 ESPN Decatur Warrensburg-Latham High School Female Athlete of the Year. Laura earned Academic All-Conference honors her freshman year in college. She hopes to play softball at a four-year school or attend Northern Illinois University. Her favorite sports teams are the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini.

She was a unanimous selection for the All-Cornbelt Conference first team as an infielder in 2011 and second team infielder in 2012. She was named to the All-State second team as an infielder (2011 & 2012). Her team won the Class 2A State Softball Championship in 2009. The team also finished in the Elite 8 (2010 & 2011) and the Sweet 16 (2012) in Class 2A. She was selected to the All-Corn Belt Conference first team in 2011 and second team in 2012. Claire was selected to the 2013 Region XXIV All-Region team her freshman year in college. Claire plans to attend the University of Illinois or Illinois State University and major in agribusiness with a minor in crop science. She hopes to work close to home and someday coach softball at Olympia High School. Her favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, the Miami Dolphins and the LLCC softball team.

#14 LINDSAY FLOYD Pitcher/Third Base/Utility • Freshman • 5’4” Parents: Tracy & Brenda Floyd Major: Mathematics Lindsay graduated from Windsor High School in 2013. She was named to the All- National Trail Conference team three years and to the All-State team two times. While a member of her high school team, the team won its first regional championship. Lindsay’s travel team (Mattoon Pride) was the NSA 2013 World Series Champion in the 18 and under division. She wants to transfer to a four-year university and pursue a degree in teaching or engineering, while continuing to play softball. Her favorite sports teams are the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears, Cubs and the Bulls. RACHEL HASTINGS #17 First Base/Infield • Freshman • 5’10” Parents: Andy & Suzzette Hastings Major: Education/Sociology Rachel is a 2013 graduate of Maroa-Forsyth High School. She holds the all-time record for RBIs (137), home runs in a career (18) and the second spot for season RBIs (43). Rachel had no defensive errors during her junior and senior softball seasons. Her junior year batting average was .532. She was selected for the All-State Softball team (third team-senior and sophomore; second team-junior). Rachel was named to the All- Conference team all four years (second team-senior, first team-junior and sophomore, honorable mention-freshman). She was a member of the All-County first team (four years) and was an ESPN Radio Area Softball finalist her junior year. Rachel’s goal is to continue to play softball after LLCC, earn a degree in education and become a coach. Her favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and the Fighting Illini.

14 Lincoln Land Community College KAYLA JACOBS #15 Outfield • Sophomore • 5’8” Parent: Angela Jacobs Major: Psychology Kayla is a 2012 graduate of Mattoon High School. She was a member of the varsity softball team all four years. She was named to the Big 12 All-Conference team as a senior. Her team won the Big 12 Conference Championship and advanced to the State Softball Tournament in 2012. Kayla’s competitive softball team, the Mattoon Pride, was a two-time national champion. Kayla was selected to the Region XXIV All- Region team her freshman year in college. In addition to athletic awards, Kayla earned 2013 Academic All-Conference as a freshman. She plans to obtain a doctorate in psychology and counsel different types of law enforcement personnel. Kayla is a Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers fan.

KATIE LANGE #12 Pitcher • Sophomore • 5’5” Parents: Brian & Kristi Lange Major: Business Katie is a 2012 graduate of Altamont High School. She played on the varsity softball team all four years of her high school career and was chosen MVP two years. She was named MVP of the National Trail Conference her senior year and was a member of the All-Conference team all four years. She was selected for the Decatur Herald & Review All-Area team (senior), and received an honorable mention her junior year. Katie was selected third team All-State 1A in 2011 and second team in 2012. Katie was inducted into the Altamont High School Hall of Fame in 2012. She was a member of the Mattoon Pride NSA “A” World Series Champion team. Katie was selected to the 2013 Region XXIV All-Region Team as a college freshman. She plans to study business and play softball at Georgia-Gwinett and eventually become an entrepreneur. Katie is a St. Louis Cardinals and New Orleans Saints fan.

HAYLEY LONG #9 Pitcher • Freshman • 5’8” Parents: Brian & Lori Long Major: Special Education Hayley graduated from Williamsville High School in 2013. She received the Coaches Award in 2012 and broke the school pitching record for most wins (30). In 2011, she was named MVP. Hayley was a member of the Sangamo Conference first team in 2010 and a unanimous choice for the 2011-2013 teams. She was an All-Area first team choice all four years. Hayley was chosen for the Area All-Star softball team in 2012 and 2013 and named the All-Area Most Valuable Pitcher in 2012. She was named to the All-State team all four years (first team-senior; second team-junior; third team-sophomore and freshman). Her WHS team placed second in state her junior year. Hayley hopes to attend Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Meyers, Florida, to play softball while continuing her special education studies. She is a Chicago Bears fan.

www.lincolnlandloggers.com 15 #23 SADIE MOSHER Pitcher/Second Base/Shortstop • Freshman • 5’5” Parents: Kristy & Scott Mosher Major: Physical Therapy Sadie is a 2013 graduate of Riverdale High School. She broke the all-time school record for doubles in a season (12) with a total of 36 during her career. She holds the all-time school pitching record for strikeouts in a year with 191 and in a career with 305. During her high school career, Sadie was named the Best Defensive Player (sophomore year), Best Offensive Player (junior year) and Best Offensive Player & Most Valuable Player (senior year). She also received the Sportsmanship Award her junior year and was chosen team captain as a senior. She was chosen for the Three Rivers Athletic All-Conference team all four years (senior-first team, pitcher-unanimous vote; junior-first team, infielder; sophomore-second team, infielder; freshman-honorable mention). Sadie was named the 2013 Three Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year and also was a member of the Academic All-Conference team all four years. Her summer travel team won the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) State Tournament in 2009 and she was named to the USSSA All-State Tournament team. In 2010, she was a member of the team that finished third at the NSA Nationals Tournament. Sadie plans to continue her physical therapy education and softball career at a four-year university. Her favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals and the University of Alabama softball team.

#3 KATIE PRICE Outfield • Sophomore • 5’3” Parents: Stan & Donna Price Major: Early Childhood/Special Education Katie graduated from Tri-City High School in 2012. She was selected for the MSM All- Conference softball team (first team-junior and senior; second team-sophomore). Katie was a member of the State Journal-Register All-Area team in 2012 and was the runner-up for the SJ-R Female Senior Athlete of the Year. She received an honorable mention on the All-State team. In addition, Katie played on the high school basketball team and made All-Tourney teams for the Waverly Thanksgiving, Tri-City Holiday and Sangamon County Classic tournaments. As a senior, she was chosen for the MSM All-Conference first team and received an honorable mention on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) All-State team. She earned Academic All-Conference honors as a college freshman. Katie plans to attend Eastern Illinois University or Southeast Missouri State University and hopes to play softball. Her favorite sports teams are the USA softball team, the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Illinois basketball team. MORGAN SMITH #25 Pitcher • Sophomore • 5’4” Parents: Roger & Jamie Smith Major: Health Care Administration Morgan is a 2012 graduate of Triopia High School. She received the 2012 Softball Most Valuable Player award and was chosen as a member of the WIVCW All-Conference softball team in 2011 and 2012. Morgan was named to the SJ-R All-Star team and also received the Hitting Award. In 2013, she was selected second team (MWAC) All- Conference. She was voted recipient of the “Getting Better” Award at LLCC by her teammates and coaches. Morgan will study health care management and play softball at Newman University (The Jets) in Wichita, Kan. She is a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

16 Lincoln Land Community College TOREY SORENSEN #6 Outfield • Sophomore • 5’3” Parents: Jennifer Locke & Corey Sorensen Major: Biology Torey graduated from Williamsville High School in 2012. Her senior year, she was selected for the All-State softball and the Sangamo All-Conference softball first teams. She contributed to her team finishing second in the State Class 2A Tournament. MaxPreps.com rated her as one of the Top 30 National All-American Softball Players in 2012. Torey was a “Super 60” selection for the 2012 season and was selected to the 2013 All-Midwest Athletic Conference (MWAC) first team her freshman year in college. She plans to continue her education at Colorado State or the University of Colorado and become a veterinarian or environmental scientist. Her favorite sports teams are the New England Patriots, the Chicago Bears, the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs.

MORGAN STEPHENS #7 Third Base/Catcher • Sophomore • 5’5” Parents: Mike & Michelle Stephens Major: Science w/Registered Nurse Certificate Morgan graduated from Edinburg High School in 2012. She had the highest batting average on her team during her junior and senior years and was named the Most Valuable Player as a senior. She was chosen for the MSM All-Conference softball team her sophomore, junior and senior years. She played in the State Journal-Register All- Star Classic softball game as a junior and senior. Morgan was also on the high school volleyball team and received several awards: most assists sophomore and senior years; most service points (junior and senior years); MSM Volleyball All-Conference (senior). She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in a science field with a registered nurse certificate. She hopes to continue playing softball and become a coach. Morgan is a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

STEPHANIE WATKINS #5 Catcher • Sophomore • 5’5” Parents: Larry & Karen Watkins Major: Criminal Justice Stephanie is a 2012 graduate of Tri-City High School. She was selected for the MSM All-Conference and All-Area teams all four years of her high school career. She was named the Area Player of the Year her senior year and was a member of the All-State team (second team-junior; first team-senior). Her accomplishments include 68 RBIs in one season, the sixth highest in Illinois history and a .657 batting average, the 11th highest in Illinois history. Stephanie was chosen for the 2012 All-State first team and the 2011 All-State second team. She played on the Mid-State Magic team which won the ASA State Tournament in 2010, placed second in 2009 and third in 2008. The 2010 team advanced to the ASA National Tournament in Wichita, Kan., taking fourth place. Stephanie’s goal is to complete her associate degree, then serve her country in the military. Her favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Longhorns and the Oregon Ducks.

She was chosen for the Okaw Valley All-Conference softball team (first team-senior; second team-junior, sophomore). She was a member of the All-Area softball team (second team-senior; honorable mention-junior, sophomore and freshman). All four years of her high school career, she was named the Scholar Athlete at Monticello High School. She received the MHS Coaches Award (senior) and the Most Improved Award (sophomore, freshmen). In 2011 and 2012, she became the MHS career home run leader and won the home run derby her junior year. Jaimey was a member of the following competitive softball teams: the CIGS Rebels, the BNGSA Angels, the Midland Magic 94’s and the Midland Magic Red. Her future plans are to continue to play softball while obtaining her bachelor’s degree. Her favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and, of course, the LLCC Lady Loggers!

#19 MELINDA WILSON Shortstop • Sophomore • 5’7” Parent: Kevin Wilson Major: Athletic Training Melinda graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 2012. She was a varsity starter all four years. High school career statistics: .406 batting average, 180 total hits, 20 home runs, 12 triples and 133 RBIs. She holds the school record for total career hits. She was selected as a member of the All-Conference team every year (first team-senior, junior; second team-sophomore, freshman). She was chosen for the Class 1A All-State team (second team-senior; third team-junior). She was named Best Offensive Player (junior year) and Best Defensive Player (sophomore year). Her high school softball team won the regional championship all four years and placed in the Elite 8 her freshman year. Melinda wants to continue to play softball while earning a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. She is a St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Rams fan.

#4 LAUREN WINDISCH Outfield • Sophomore • 5’5” Parents: Kurt & Sue Windisch Major: Dietetics Lauren is a 2012 graduate of Glenwood High School. While at GHS, she beat the school record for most runs scored in a season (52 runs). She was named to the CS8 All-Conference team (two years) and the CS8 Academic All-Conference team (three years). She was chosen as the Offensive Most Valuable Player in the 2012 State Journal- Register All-Star softball game. She also played in the Senior Super 60 tournament in East Peoria. Lauren earned 2013 Academic All-Conference honors as a college freshman. She was selected 2013 All-Midwest Athletic Conference (MWAC) second team as an outfielder. She plans to become a registered dietitian. Her favorite sports teams are the Indianapolis Colts and the St. Louis Cardinals.

18 Lincoln Land Community College RACHEL WISNER #11 Catcher/Third Base • Freshman • 5’9” Parents: Danny & Angie Wisner Major: Biology Rachel graduated from East Richland High School in 2013. She was a first team All- Conference pick and named to the Decatur Herald and Review All-Area team for softball all four years of her high school career. Her senior year, she was chosen as a member of the All-Conference teams in three sports-softball, basketball and volleyball. Rachel holds the #15 record for home runs in the Illinois High School Association records. After graduating from LLCC, she hopes to play softball while continuing her education at a four-year university. Her favorite sports teams are the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Cardinals.
