More Info Here Cookie Selection WTA Rankings are the ratings defined by the Women's Tennis Association, which was introduced in November 1975. [1] Ranking WTA rankings are based on a rolling 52-week, cumulative system. A player's ranking is determined by her results of a maximum of 16 singles tournaments and 11 for doubles, and points are awarded based on how far a player progresses in a tournament. The basis for calculating a player's ranking is the tournaments that provide the highest ranking points during the rolling 52-week period with the condition that they must include points from the 4 Grand Slams, the 4 Premier Mandatory tournaments and the WTA Finals. For Top 20 players, their two best results in Premier 5 tournaments also count. [2] Until 2016, the WTA also distributed ranking points, for singles players only who competed at the Summer Olympics. However, this has since been discontinued. [3] To appear in the WTA rankings, players must earn ranking points in at least three tournaments, or at least 10 singles ranking points or 10 doubles ranking points in one or more tournaments. The 2019 tournament score is shown below. Points earned in 2013 were slightly different in some cases and retained their value until they expired after 52 weeks. Please note that if a player or team receives one or more byes and then loses their first match of the tournament, they will only receive points for the first round of that tournament. For example, if a player receives a farewell in R64 and then loses her match in R32, she will only receive points for R64 despite having advanced (via bye) to R32. Similarly, if a player or team withdraws from its first match after receiving a farewell, they will not be awarded any points for that tournament. [4] In ITF tournaments, the main draw is usually 32 for singles and 16 for doubles. Losers in the first round of doubles will receive points similar to the one shown in the R32 column above. For subsequent rounds (quarter-finals onwards), the points are the same as for singles. • 2020 Western & Southern Open Doubles Field
Western & Southern Open Defending Champions Headline Doubles Fields CINCINNATI (Aug. 11, 2020) – Both the women’s and men’s defending champions are among the initial entries to play doubles at the 2020 Western & Southern Open, which will be held Aug. 20-28 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York. The 2019 WTA doubles winners – Lucie Hradecka and Andreja Klepac – are joined by the ATP Tour champions – Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek – to headline the early entries. Other notable entries on the women’s side include the teenage pairing of Cincinnati’s 18-year-old Caty McNally and 16-year-old Coco Gauff. Dubbed “McCoco,” the duo won a pair of WTA titles in 2019 – at Washington, D.C. and Luxembourg – and reached the US Open Round of 16. Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka, who finished 2019 atop the WTA Porsche Race to Shenzen as the season’s No. 1 team, are also in the field. Reigning Australian Open singles champion Sofia Kenin, a 21-year- old American, has entered with former Western & Southern Open singles and doubles winner Victoria Azarenka. The top two teams in the ATP Tour doubles race are entered in the men’s draw. The No. 1 team of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah is returning after reaching two straight Western & Southern Open finals. They are joined in the field by the No. 2 team of Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo. The ATP Tour No. 1 ranked singles player, Novak Djokovic, has entered the doubles draw with countryman Filip Krajinovic. An additional five women’s teams and six men’s duos will join the fields through on-site entries, while the tournament will award three wild cards into each draw to complete the 32-team fields.
