Vocal-Diva Storm Large Performs a Night of Romantic Classics with the Jacksonville Symphony Jacksonville, FL (February 21, 2018) --- Known from her time as a finalist on the CBS show Rock Star: Supernova, the songstress Storm Large will join the Jacksonville Symphony for a night of romantic favorites including “My Funny Valentine” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You.” WHO: As a musician, actor, playwright and author, Storm Large has played many artistic roles. Before rising to national prominence in 2006 with her appearance on Rock Star: Supernova, Large spent the 90s singing in clubs throughout San Francisco. In 2002 she started a standing engagement at a Portland club, “Dante’s.” She made her debut with the band Pink Martini in 2011 singing four sold-out concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Although she continues to perform with Pink Martini off the orchestral stage, her symphonic performances haven’t stopped. Recent highlights include performances with the New York Pops, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra. Recently, Large joined Michael Feinstein as a special guest on the Jazz at Lincoln Center Popular Song series with Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey and Pasadena Pops. WHAT: For two nights of romance, Storm Large performs love songs new and old on the Jacoby Symphony Hall stage. Classic jazz standard “My Funny Valentine” can be found on over 1,300 albums, including one by American singer, Frank Sinatra. The crooner’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” will also make an appearance with Queen’s “Somebody to Love.” Storm Large will perform romantic standards and more in Crazy Arc of Love. WHEN: The concerts will take place on Friday, March 2 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. as well as Saturday, March 3 at 8 p.m. The concert on Friday, March 2 at 11 a.m. is a part of the Raymond James Coffee Series and will feature abbreviated selections. Complimentary coffee and cookies will be served before the coffee concert. WHERE: All concerts will take place in the Jacoby Symphony Hall in the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. De muziek is geselecteerd op artiesten- naam. Uiteraard is het ook mogelijk eigen muziek te spelen of laten spelen. Voor het aanleveren van een CD verzoeken wij u vriendelijk rekening te hou- den met onderstaande; De muziek dient één werkdag van tevoren, vóór 15.00 uur ’s middags bij onze administratie aangeleverd te zijn. Wanneer u cd’s brengt dan gaat onze voorkeur uit naar originele cd’s en wanneer u muziek bij ons aanlevert, vult u dan vooraf dit formulier in. Let er op dat u beide tabbladen, zowel voorkant als achterkant, invult. Muziek aanleveren op een usb stick is helaas niet mogelijk. Wanneer de muziek niet op de afgesproken tijd op de Yarden locatie is, dan kan er alleen een keuze worden gemaakt uit het muziekboek. ORIENTACIÓN LITERARIA Hell, Heaven and Alchemy in Hawthorne’s “Scarlet Letter” according to Gnosticism Name: Nora Celina Casanova Year: 2013 Register Number: 18926 Project Director: Marcela Raggio 1 INTRODUCTION Topic: According to Gnosticism, the original sin which prompted man to be expelled from Heaven was the sin against the Holy Spirit. This offence would be strictly connected to sexuality, consisting mainly on fornication and adultery. The disobedient behavior towards the Lord’s Laws, then, made God banish sinners to a place where they should suffer until they could be redeemed by their own good deeds and saintly conduct. In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the main characters have to suffer the consequences of their sin and struggle against their own nature to achieve redemption and be purified. Hypothesis: If the contact Hawthorne had with esoteric fraternities made him aware of the purport of esoteric symbolism present in his novel, then it can be said that his work condenses his knowledge of the occult sciences (as explained by Gnosticism). If Gnostic philosophy considers lust to be the original sin, then, from the Gnostic perspective, Hawthorne’s novel would recreate human’s expulsion from Eden and their transit trough hell until they overcome their innate frailty and achieve the dignity to return to paradise. Since an exoteric study of Hawthorne’s work has been unable to solve the riddles of symbolism and allegory presented by the author, then an exhaustive examination of hermetic symbolism and its real meaning would be required.
