THE NEW FLYING DESK FOR INITIAL TRAINING

Yak-152 piston–engine aircraft:

• is developed by Design Bureau, the affiliate of Irkut Corporation; • performed maiden flight on 29 Sept, 2016; • allows performing flights by day and night, implementing aerobatics, training in instrumental piloting and spinning in/off; • will provide professional selection and training of a wide variety of pilots in state-run and private flight training schools; • may be used for training of aerobatic pilots.

2 FEATURES & CAPABILITIES

Advanced flight performance due to:

• high aerodynamic quality of aircraft; • enhanced thrust/weight ratio provided by the most powerful engine in this aircraft class; • retractable landing gear; • developed wing-flap system; • tandem crew accommodation in two-seat cabin, with cadet pilot in the front.

3 MAJOR ADVANTAGES if compared with other aircraft of the same class

• Maximum horizontal flight speed is 30 … 40% higher (420km/h). • Take-off run is shorter (235 m). • G-load envelope is 50% wider (+9 … –7). • Maximum flight range of 1,500 km is similar to that of the best counterparts.

4 POWER PLANT RED A03Т 500-hp diesel engine provides:

• superb flight speed and climbing rate characteristics;

• capability of operating from airfields located at up to 2000-m altitude;

• engine starting on the ground and in the air at the ambient temperatures from +50Co to –25Co;

• reduction of operational costs (as aviation kerosene is 3-4 times cheaper than aviation gasoline);

• controls of both engine rotation rate and propeller pitch performed with the single stick, to ensure cadets will acquire skills corresponding to control jet aircraft;

• better ecological characteristics, than those of gasoline engines.

Manufacturing of RED A03T engines is being established in .

5 AVIONICS

Cadet’s Instructor’s EKBO-152 avionics suite provides: cockpit cockpit • triple redundancy of piloting-and-navigation equipment;

• recording of data on flight parameters and operation of on-board systems, as well as crew voice communications, to the protected on-board storage device;

• automatic responses to requests of IFF systems and secondary radars of air traffic control systems;

• duplex voice communication with ground transceivers at the distance of up to 200 km;

• in-flight simulation of failures with the use of the control panel installed in the instructor's cabin.

6 AVIONICS

GLONASS/GPS navigation receiver, short-range radio navigation and landing system are introduced into avionics suite.

This up-to-date navigation set provides: • flying by day and night; • implementation of instrument training flight, while the cadet's cabin is shielded with the blind; • enhanced flight safety.

7 EMERGENCY EJECTION SYSTEM

SKS-94M super-lightweight non-seat catapult system is the unique feature of Yak-152 aircraft.

This system: • provides enhanced safety of training; • is smaller, then catapult seat systems; • is employable within the 60 … 400-km/h speed and 7 … 4000-m altitude envelopes; • features no analogues in the world; • ensures pilot’s G-loads not exceeding those, applicable to any parachute jumper.

8 DESIGN & OPERATION

Yak-152 features simplicity of design and easiness of operation.

• The aircraft performs flights from concrete and unpaved runways with minimal specific density of 5 … 6 kgf/cm2. • The aircraft can be stored outside of hangar. • Yak-152's operational lifetime comprises 10,000 hours, 30 years, and 30,000 landings. Aircraft's assemblies and systems are designed for 'on condition' operation. • Maintenance easiness is ensured by convenient access to aircraft’s assemblies and communications. • Flight preparation time is about 15 min. Second flight preparation time is near 10 min.

9 PRODUCTION

Manufacturing of Yak-152 is established at Aviation Plant, the affiliate of Irkut Corporation.

All manufacturing equipment, tooling, and technologies are certified in accordance with the national and international standards. For Yak-152 production, up-to-date manufacturing technologies introduced earlier for key corporate programs (Su-30SM, Yak-130, MC-21, A-320 components), are employed.

10 PILLARS OF EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

Yakovlev Design Bureau has accumulated the vast experience in development of aviation training products.

Since 1935, more than 22,000 UT-2, Yak-11, Yak-18, Yak- 52 piston-engine aircraft of various modifications have been manufactured in Russia and abroad. While flying Yak-50, Yak-55, Yak-55M light-weight aircraft capable of performing any aerobatic manoeuvres, Russian pilots have won numerous Highest Awards of Aerobatic World Championships. Yak-152 aircraft is the logical continuation of Yakovlev training and aerobatic brands. From the former, Yak-152 inherits easiness of flight control and simplicity of maintenance. From the latter, it inherits high manoeuvrability and ability to fly at high G-loads varying from +9 to –7.
