FFA members from across the state got the opportunity to visit Florida’s capitol and speak to their elected officials. Belleview FFA members spoke to Representative Charlie Stone, Senator Dennis Baxley, and Representative Stan McClain. This was a great opportunity to make our senators aware of bills that would support agriculture education and FFA. The members also got to share their opinions on education with their representatives to hopefully bring improvement to certain aspects. The students also met with a lobbyist, Cara Martin. She was able to speak to them about water problems around the state of Florida and what she does as her job in our capitol. This was a great experience for FFA members to see how our government works and to share their opinions and knowledge. During lunch the students were able to talk with Ashton Mears, an agricultural law- yer, about what she does for work everyday. They were able to learn about some of the current events that Ms. Mears deals with. Such as reading over policies that would ef- fect Florida if passed. The FFA members learned a lot about Florida politics and policy. Meeting Representative Stone
