In 1968, his longstanding dream became a reality, when the Kishore Bharati magazine was first published with him as the editor. The magazine gave rise to a new prolific batch of writings, which was well-received by the readers. He was awarded with the Vidyasagar Award in 1987, one of the many awards that he was honoured with throughout his life. About the Book Bone Deep is set in a rural environment, in an old watermill, on the east coast of Scotland, and takes as its starting point the folktale of the Two Sisters. In this narrative, the jealous older sister drowns the younger girl in the mill pond. The story is placed in the modern context, with the centuries-old mill forming a bridge between two worlds; imagined and real.

About the Author: Sandra Ireland was born in England, but lived for many years in the Irish Republic before coming back ‘home’ to Scotland. She is the author of Beneath the Skin, a psychological thriller published by Polygon, which has just been shortlisted for a Saltire Society First Novel Award. Her second novel, Bone Deep, a modern Gothic tale with a mythical twist, will be out in April, 2018. Her poetry, often inspired by the seascapes where she lives, has been widely published in anthologies, including Seagate III (Dundee), and Furies (For Book’s Sake). She is the 2017 winner of the Dorothy Dunbar Trophy for Poetry, awarded by the Scottish Association of Writers.
