4 The Auction Difference

A Night for Greenhills brings together the en- tire community to celebrate our school and the remarkable teaching and learning that take place each day in our classrooms, forums and hallways. Current families, past parents, faculty and alumni all attend this special even- ing. Their enthusiasm and support help ensure a bright future for Greenhills and all our stu- dents.

Proceeds from this event support critical needs such as curriculum development, ac- quisition of teaching tools and supplies, fine and performing arts supplies, programming, athletics, financial aid and improvements to the building. Funds raised at A Night for Greenhills help sustain a great school experi- ence for all our students.

This year, the auction centerpiece is a new transportation vehicle. Smaller than a regular school bus, this “multi-function school activity bus” will be used to transport single teams and smaller groups of students to their events and competitions. This vehicle will be a much-used and valued asset for Greenhills. Customized with our school colors, the new vehicle will be an efficient complement to our full-size buses.

We look forward to seeing our students out and about in our new vehicle!

7 From the Head of School

Dear Friends:

Welcome to A Night for Greenhills, an annual celebration of your school and its unique sense of community. It is precisely that sense of community, among Greenhills’ many other strengths, that provides one of the most important underpinnings of our students’ success. So it seems only right that we gather one night every year to mark it. You will be pleased to know that Greenhills continues its tradition of exceptional accomplishment. Highlights since we gathered at this time last year include a wide variety of individual and team achievements:

 Four National Merit scholarships and four National Achievement scholarships;

 A seventh consecutive state championship in ;

 Certification as an official Michigan Green School;

 District championships for , boys golf, and boys and girls soccer;

 Three perfect scores on the National Latin Exam;

 Academic All-State teams in , girls golf, , boys and girls tennis, and ;

 All-State athletes in boys golf, field hockey, lacrosse, boys and girls soccer, and boys tennis;

 An eighth consecutive state championship for Upper School forensics. But make no mistake: student success would not be possible without support from Greenhills’ family and friends—support that is more than simply financial. Your ceaseless service to the school and its students is perhaps exemplified by the extraordinary efforts of the people who planned this evening: Elizabeth DeRose, Chris Hugly, Ros Johnson, Stephanie Jones, Terry Morrison, Christine Sotiroff, and Shireen Syed. Please accept my thanks for all your hard work. I would also like to thank each of you for attending what promises to be a wonderful evening. Have a great night!
