Para el análisis y redacción del reportaje se tomaron en cuenta, además de las entrevistas, la legislación nacional que castiga la violencia de género. Es importante destacar que las participantes en los concursos de belleza y los organizadores, en la mayoría de ocasiones no identifican la agresión como violencia. Estudio exploratorio sobre la violencia, el abuso y la discriminación en los concursos de belleza realizados en El Salvador 2007 a 2017 10 INTRODUCCIÓN Los eventos para mujeres son llamados, en general, certámenes de reinas de belleza o beauty pageant. Un certamen o concurso de belleza es un evento centrado en el juzgamiento de la belleza física e intelectual de sus participantes, este puede ser enfocado a cualquier sexo u orientación sexual. Los organizadores de cada concurso determinan las reglas de la competencia, por ejemplo, estas incluyen la edad que rondan en un promedio de 18 a 27 años para los concursos adultos, tener una buena educación, ser poseedora de salud, belleza física y corporal, ser soltera y nunca haber estado casada o embarazada, entre otras. Este tipo de reglamentos son de cierta forma una discriminación indirecta a las concursantes, ya que están establecidas previamente antes de poder ser aceptadas. En estos tipos de concursos se evalúan cualidades de las participantes que pueden ser principalmente la personalidad, el talento, el carisma, la belleza integral, la elegancia, la proactividad, la seguridad, la inteligencia, la conciencia social, la salud física y la tan temida ronda de preguntas, que tiene que ser respondida con criterio personal. Por lo general, antes de llegar a las competencias más populares alrededor del mundo que son: Miss Universo, Miss Mundo, Miss International, Miss Earth, Miss Supranational, Reina Hispanoamericana, Miss Top Model of the World y Miss Intercontinental, las reinas de belleza deben ganar los concursos en sus países de nacimiento. Cabe destacar que existen concursos de belleza infantil que se trata sobre la belleza de las participantes, vestidos, modelo de ropa deportiva, talento y entrevistas personales, y los que están dirigido para adultos y adolescentes que se centran

    Oklahoma property developer sent to prison for money laundering - 29 December 2011 Derek Swann, a property developer in Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for money laundering. Swann and his business partner Giovanni Stinson used false information to solicit investors for “The Falls”, their proposed commercial and residential development. According to the prosecution: “From 2006 to 2008, individuals invested more than US$5 million [about £3.2 million] into The Falls based on promises made by Swann. Swann then used investors’ monies for reasons different from what he told them: rather than paying for engineering, architectural or infrastructure costs... Swann used the investments for personal expenses and repayment of earlier investors.” Among the personal expenses cited, Swann and Stinson paid for golf and meals at the Oklahoma City Golf Club and leased BMW cars. The Falls was never completed. In February 2011, Swann admitted misusing some of the $255,000 put into the project by a Texan investor, and has been ordered to pay more than $4.3 million in restitution to more than two dozen investors. Stinson is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty earlier this year to conspiracy to commit securities fraud. Ten broadcasters who identify as female and Hispanic were interviewed about their experiences in the industry. A careful analysis indicated that there are pressures for adopting ultra-feminine looks for hair and makeup and sexy clothing for on-air appearances based on consumer feedback.
