ELEGANT UP-DO Create a timeless, classic up-do in the comfort of your own home. This style is easy enough to put together quickly before a night out or special event, adding that extra touch of glamour and elegance to your outfit. Follow these six easy steps to create a hairstyle with that just- back-from-the-salon finish! WHAT YOU NEED 6 hair ties A handful of plain, discrete bobby pins Hairspray to set the style once finished BEFORE YOU START Allow 30 minutes if you are a confident styler, longer if this is your first attempt Make sure your hair is clean and dry - just out of the shower is not always best! ELEGANT UP-DO STEP ONE Split your hair into three ponytails, as shown. The first should be parted from the rest of your hair just above your ear. Split the remaining hair into two ponytails above the nape of your neck. STEP TWO Split the hair of the left-most ponytail into two separate bunches. Twist the two around each other and secure at the bottom with a hair tie. Loosen the twist to add volume. STEP THREE Pull the twisted braid of hair over the top of the other two ponytails and secure with a bobby pin, tucking in the end of the braid. ELEGANT UP-DO STEP FOUR Repeat Step Two with the middle ponytail. Tuck the new braid over and to the left of the first. Secure with a bobby pin. STEP FIVE Repeat Step Two with the third and final ponytail. Tuck the new braid under the other two. Secure with a bobby pin. STEP SIX Loosen the hair at the crown of your head if you want to add volume. .

Haircuts and hair styles are not permitted to be faddish or eccentric. Mohawks, derivations of Mohawks and cuts or styles with shaved or designed portions of the scalp are not permitted. Braids and/or derivations of braids, including locks and twists, may be permitted for females only if hair is firmly secured according to the LONG HAIR regulations noted below (and per MARADMIN 622/15). b. No designs are allowed to the hair; only one straight part in the hair is authorized. c. Hair must be a natural color (blonde, brown, black) and be consistent over the entire head (no multi-colored braids or spots). d. Shaving/slashing of eyebrows is NOT authorized.

Rehearsal, Show, Hair & Makeup Guidelines Rehearsal & Show Guidelines to Make a JOYful Experience for All: ALWAYS – Check to be sure you have everything needed. Designate a “Show Bag” with all your items. We provided a checklist for costume pieces in the Costume Book to make it easier. We recommend making your own checklist for Hip Hop Costumes. Check these lists before coming to the show and when leaving the theater every time. – Write names on all costume pieces, tights and shoes. – Please plan ahead and be on time. – Costumes should be clean and unwrinkled. – Sewing is always preferred over pinning when making any costume fixes/adjustments. – Underwear should not be worn under tights if they are visible or show lines. If the audience can’t see them under your costume, no one needs to know. – Please do not wear any jewelry that doesn’t go with the costume. Neat nail polish as part of your hip hop style / finale costume is fine, but no nail polish in matchingcostumed classes. – Please plan meals accordingly. Pack a water bottle and small snacks. Please have a wrap or cover up available because it’s never a good idea to eat in costume. REHEARSAL – Only one parent or guardian per dancer at the Rehearsal please. – Videotaping and Flash Photography are not allowed. Nonflash photos at Rehearsal are fine! We want dancers to get to rehearse without the pressure of being videotaped. – Hair & Makeup should be done at the Dress Rehearsal. We would like to see if a dancer needs more or less of anything.
