It does not require registration with a Polycom provisioning server such as a RealPresence Resource Manager system. In standalone mode, you have direct access to the configuration and settings of RealPresence Desktop. You must purchase a license and enter licensing information manually to use this RealPresence Desktop beyond the 30-day trial period. ● In managed mode, RealPresence Desktop registers with a Polycom provisioning server like a RealPresence Resource Manager system. The Polycom provisioning server configures RealPresence Desktop automatically. It also provides access to a centralized directory server. In managed mode, the Polycom provisioning server manages licensing of RealPresence Desktop, so you do not need to purchase an individual license. About the RealPresence Desktop Application Before you begin configuring RealPresence Desktop, get familiar with the application’s user interface. The following illustrations show the RealPresence Desktop main window and in-call toolbar. RealPresence Desktop for Windows main window Polycom, Inc. 4 RealPresence Desktop for Windows in-call toolbar Icons Description 1 Network connection and encryption status 2 Call duration 3 Hide or display local self-view 4 Mute or unmute your video 5 Mute or unmute your microphone You can also use Ctrl + m to mute your audio and Ctrl + u to unmute audio. 6 Adjust the volume or adjust the volume to the minimum to mute your speaker. 7 End the current call 8 Share content 9 Start a chat session with another person during a call 10 Enable or disable Far End Camera Control (FECC) 11 Show or hide the keypad 12 Change call settings 13 Maximize or restore the screen 14 Hide or show the Share Content, Chat, Keypad, Settings, FECC, and Full Screen icons. Get Started with RealPresence Desktop When first signing into RealPresence Desktop, you have two options based on the mode of operation: ● Choose Enterprise Sign-In when using RealPresence Desktop in managed mode ● Choose Individual Account when using RealPresence Desktop in standalone mode Do not run RealPresence Desktop with other Polycom desktop endpoint applications The RealPresence Desktop application cannot run while either the Polycom CMA Desktop or Polycom Telepresence m100 application is running. Polycom, Inc. 5 Get Started with RealPresence Desktop in Standalone Mode When you purchase RealPresence Desktop from an authorized Polycom reseller, you will receive either a physical or electronic document that includes a license number and directions for authorizing the license through the Polycom Support web page. Following authorization, you can use RealPresence Desktop for as long as the service and support are in effect. RealPresence Desktop operates in managed mode as it operates in managed mode; however, in standalone mode, RealPresence Desktop does not have access to provisioning, monitoring, or Active Directory services. You may need to contact your IT administrator for information about these services during the setup procedure. To get started with RealPresence Desktop in standalone mode: 1 Start RealPresence Desktop and in the Individual Account box click Enter. 2 Choose one of the following: Click Trial to use the RealPresence Desktop application as a trial. Click Activate to activate the application with a license. Then import your license, or enter your license and activation key. Get Started with RealPresence Desktop in Managed Mode In managed mode, RealPresence Desktop will try to discover the provisioning server from which it will receive its license and get some configuration settings. You use your company account to log into RealPresence Desktop. To enable RealPresence Desktop to discover the provisioning server: 1 Start RealPresence Desktop and in the Enterprise Sign-In box click Enter. 2 Enter your e-mail address (usually your corporate e-mail address) on the Sign In page, and then click Next. 3 Enter your User Name and Password. If you select the Sign in using network login credentials check box, RealPresence Desktop will use your Windows login credentials to sign in. If a server name does not appear in the Server field, the application cannot find a provisioning server. Contact your IT administrator for the information to enter into the Server field. 4 Click Sign In. RealPresence Desktop will discover the provisioning server automatically. Login tip When the XMPP service stops working, if you sign into more than one Polycom® RealPresence® Desktop, the later Polycom® RealPresence® Desktop will fail to register H.323 because of a duplicate alias error. Perform Initial Configuration of RealPresence Desktop To perform the initial configuration of RealPresence Desktop: 1 Once signed in, click . Polycom, Inc. 6 2 Go to Settings > Profile to configure and enable the profile photo and virtual business card features. If not in Managed mode, enter the profile information to display on your virtual business card. Click and browse to and select a profile photo. Check Virtual Business Card and Profile Photo and then click OK. 3 Go to Settings > General and configure the following settings: Display Name The name that will be displayed to the far end during a call. In managed mode, your login name will be displayed to the far end, not your display name. In standalone mode, enter the name you want displayed to the far end during a call. Automatically start when the system starts Specifies whether or not to start RealPresence Desktop automatically when you start your computer. Auto-answer incoming calls Specifies whether or not to answer incoming calls automatically. Audio mute auto-answered calls Enables the system to answer calls without turning on the microphone. Video mute auto-answered calls Enables the system to answer calls without turning on the camera.

  • Microsoft Word 2010
Microsoft Word 2010 Prepared by Dr.salma Sultan Salman 1 P a g e | 2 1 - The Desktop The Desktop is the main Windows 7 screen (see image below). It is the work area where dialog boxes, windows, icons, and menus appear. Like an office desk, the Windows 7 desktop contains items you can use to do your job. For instance, from your desktop, you can perform file-management tasks and run software applications. You can customize the appearance of the desktop to suit your preferences. Desktop Icons The Desktop is where you’ll find icons (small pictures) for many of your most frequently used programs. You’ll most likely see icons for Computer, Documents, Recycle Bin, and Internet Explorer. Computer – Allows you to see what drives are attached to your computer (for example, your local hard disk drive, your CD/DVD drives, any networked shared drives, and external drives, such as a USB flash drive). You can also view the files that are located on these drives. Documents – Supplies a ‘catch-all’ place for your personal files. Within here you can see your files, any shared files from other computer users and any music or pictures you may have stored. The Documents folder will sometimes be identified by your name instead of the word “Documents.” Recycle Bin – Stores any files you delete until you empty it. Internet Explorer – Contains Windows’ built in web browser that integrates with other Windows components (such as your folders and Documents). 2 P a g e | 3 On the other hand, you can also create and edit icons for your own use.
