Suggested Itinerary - Around the Balearics Suggested Itinerary - Around the Balearics Mallorca: Puerto Portals – West Coast Mallorca – Ibiza – Formentera – North-West Coast Mallorca – Menorca – East Coast Mallorca – Cabrera - Mallorca: Puerto Portals Puerto Portals – Portals Vells Board the yacht in Puerto Portals and unwind with a short trip to Illetas or Portals Vells, dropping the anchor before enjoying a swim. Return to port at sunset for sundowners or staying overnight on anchor. Southwest Coast Mallorca Arrive in Islas Malgrats on the south west of the island for late lunch. Water sports, sun bathing and then into the charming fishing port of Andratx for the night. Dining in one of the excellent seafood restaurants ashore if wanted or enjoying the hospitality on board. 1 Mallorca to Ibiza - North Coast Cruise from Mallorca to Ibiza for one of the many Calas at the stunning coast of Ibiza e.g. in Cala Bassa or near Isla de Tagomago. North Coast Ibiza to San Antonio (Ibiza) Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the rugged north coast of Ibiza to the picturesque Cala Binirras for the night or sail to San Antonio and enjoy the sunset in front of the famous Café del Mar. Formentera / Ibiza After breakfast, sailing along the Isla Conejera to the south-west cape of Ibiza with the breathtaking Islote Vedra. Either heading for Ibiza Town, with a stop for a BBQ lunch and a swim at the beautiful Isla Colella and an evening in the Port of Ibiza, wander through the old town and sample the famous nightlife. Or sailing to the peaceful Island of Formentera with their crystal blue waters. Lunch at Los Molinos followed by a swim and sunbathing in the early evening. Or water-skiing at sunset and spend the night on anchor with an intimate dinner. Set off early morning and cruise to Ibiza. Spend the day anchored at Formentera enjoying the water sports aboard the yacht or strolling on the beautiful beaches of Formen- tera. Evening in the Port of Ibiza, walk through the old town and sample the famous nightlife. Formentera has many beautiful anchorages, beaches, salinas, that it is worth spending a couple of days (if not a week). Passage Ibiza - Mallorca West Coast An early departure to Mallorca for a late brunch opposite the spectacular Isla de Dragonera, go hiking up the mountain on the island. And relax in a nice quiet bay and enjoy the wild scenery. 2 North Coast – Soller – Sa Calobra Spend the day cruising the majestic coastline of northern Mallorca towards Port Soller, stopping to swim, and see the sights along the way. Anchor for the evening amongst the mountains e.g. in Porto de Soller. Cruise up the rugged west coast after breakfast and stop for a swim and lunch by the spectacular Torrent de Parreis at Cala Calobra, one of the most beautiful calas on this coast, to wander ashore in the gorge, swim or snorkel. Evening cruise under the cliffs. Stop for the night in the quiet anchorage. Sa Calobra - Formentor After a delicious breakfast and a swim in the crystal clear waters, head around the Cabo Formentor into the beautiful bay of Formentor. Anchor off the world famous beach and take the tender ashore for a light lunch at the Hotel. Cocktails and a gala dinner under the stars on board the yacht. Formentor (Mallorca) – Ciutadella (Menorca) Breakfast and preparations for departure to head for Menorca – a very different island to Mallorca and Ibiza. We say goodbye to the dramatic mountain coastline of northern Mallorca and arrive in the little “Fjord” of Ciutadella with its remote town. Menorca - North Coast Heading along the coast around Cabo Caballeria into Cala Fornells or Cala Addaya to enjoy the evening there. 3 Menorca – Mahon / South Coast Leave anchorage for Mahon after a delicious mid morning breakfast. Visit the pretty hometown of the Mayonnaise and its bohemian market. Leaving the natural harbour of Mahon, we head south around the Isla del Aire and staying overnight in a Cala at the south coast. Menorca – Mallorca / Alcudia Sailing from Menorca to Cabo del Pinar, to Punta d’es Calo or Colonia de San Pedro – beautiful places in the bay of Alcudia – difficult to decide where to go ….. unfortunately we are running out of time to see all beautiful places around the Balearics. Mallorca - East Coast / Cabrera Sailing along Mallorca’s east coast to the secluded National Park area of Cabrera for the night and famous for its tranquillity and wildlife. Spend the night at anchor. Cabrera – Es Trenc - Portals Destination Es Trenc beach for lunch, depart for the turquoise waters of Playa del Trench. Spend your final day soaking up the sun onboard the yacht and enjoying all she has to offer. This suggested itinerary can be modified but is subject at all times to the Captain's approval and to prevailing weather conditions. 4 .

Although hotel and real estate investors ignore or despise the peasant families who still persevere in farming amidst this worldwide-known tourist hotspot, the Balearic Autonomous Government has recently started a pay-for-ecosystem-services scheme based on the tourist eco-tax collection that offers grants to farmers that keep the Majorcan cultural landscapes alive, while a growing number of them have turned organic. How has this peasant heritage survived within such a global tourist capitalist economy? We answer this question by explaining the socio-ecological transition experienced from the failure of agrarian capitalism in the island, and the ensuing peasantization process during the first half of the 20th century through a local banking-driven and market-oriented land reform.
