OAKLAND APOSTOLATE AT SUNDAY, MAY 23, 2021 SAINT MARGARET MARY Mailing Address: 1219 Excelsior Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610 TEXTS IN PARISH BULLETIN , P. 6-7 Dear Faithful,

“Come, Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them fire of Thy love.” On Pentecost Sunday, and in the days of the Novena leading up to this most solemn feast, it is this pressing request that Holy Mother Church offers to the Divine Paraclete. He is our truest and most intimate Friend and Advo- cate. May we frequently ask Him to strengthen us for that most important battle: the battle for our souls and our eternal beatitude. May He sustain us in the heat and the fury of the spiritual combat. May He give a new inner fire and vigor to those who have grown cold and weary. Let us invite Him into our souls so that He will cleanse what is unclean, heal that which is wounded, and correct that which has gone astray.

One of the graces of Pentecost is the granting of a plenary indulgence at the public recitation of the “Veni Creator,” under the usual conditions. As this Pentecost, by Jean II Restout, oil on canvas, 1732 Sunday will be the final day of our Novena, be sure to take advantage of this special grace Our Lord is offering us. Did you know?: Ember Days As mentioned last week, I will have to absent myself from Oakland today and this week in order to go on retreat in St. Louis, Missouri, at St. Francis de Sales Oratory.
