Users ask and answer questions from other users, and read existing questions and answers. The site was founded in June 2009, launched in private beta in December 2009, and made available to the public on June 21, 2010.[5] Quora aggregates questions and answers to topics and allows users to collaborate on them by editing questions and suggesting edits to other users' answers.[6] Quora's main competitors are social bookmarking sites like reddit, social networking sites like Yahoo Answers, LinkedIn, Answerbag and Answers.com, and expert question-answer communities like the Stack Exchange. History Quora was co-founded by two former Facebook employees, Adam D'Angelo and Charlie Cheever. D'Angelo quit his position at Facebook in January 2010 to create Quora[7] and said he was inspired to create Quora because he thought:[8] "that Q & A is one of those areas on the internet where there are a lot of sites, but no one had come along and built something that was really good yet." Quora's base of users grew quickly in December 2010.[9] In March, 2010 Quora received $11 million in funding from Benchmark Capital, valuing the start-up at $86 million.[10] Quora 2 Website Quora is designed to be an online social form of a knowledge market. Users follow topics that they are interested in and questions and answers in those topics are displayed in the user's news feed. The service allows users to ask questions and give answers. Additionally, users can comment on the questions, and "upvote" or "downvote" answers. An "Answer Summary" can be created to reflect the consensus of the community; this summary is a wiki that can be edited by any registered user. Users can also create stand-alone "Posts", which resemble blog posts.[11] Technology Quora uses Pylons and Comet for its backend and Ubuntu Linux as its operating system with MySQL as its database. It also uses Git and memcached. Quora uses Nginx as a reverse proxy server and HAProxy for load balancing. However, this also simultaneously engendered the prob- lem of Insincere Questions. Insincere questions are those that have a nonneutral undertone with no intention of seeking useful answers. The Classification of Insincere Questions task at FIRE 2019 did not just fo- cus on binary classification of insincere questions, but went a step further and introduced a fine-grained classification of 6 labels, namely: rhetorical, hate speech, sexual content, hypothetical, other and sincere questions. The solution offered by SSN NLP used a 2 level approach. The funda- mental level comprised of SGD optimized SVM Classification model. In addition to this, the corpus was filtered based on frequently occurring, relevant keywords. Users are the most important resource for CQA services, and the awareness of user expertise at early stage is critical to improve user experience and reduce churn rate. However, due to the lack of engagement, it is difficult to infer the expertise levels of newcomers. Despite that newcomers expose little expertise evidence in CQA services, they might have left footprints on external social media websites. Social login is a technical mechanism to unify multiple social identities on different sites corresponding to a single person entity. We utilize the social login as a bridge and leverage social media knowledge for improving user performance prediction in CQA services. In this paper, we construct a dataset of 20,742 users who have been linked across Zhihu (similar to Quora) and Sina Weibo. We perform extensive experiments including hypothesis test and real task evaluation. The results of hypothesis test indicate that both prestige and relevance knowledge on Weibo are correlated with user performance in Zhihu. A technical marvel known as a mobile phone application or “app” arranges a ride or introduces a rider with a driver “sharing” his or her private vehicle. This is conveniently ordered by tapping your cell phone and, within minutes or seconds, not only is the chore of setting up transportation achieved, but so is compensation for the trip. This paper explores why this is so significant, using Uber as an example. Uber clutched the concept of peer-to-peer ride hailing and created a multi-billion dollar commercial enterprise. It subsequently underwent rapid growth within a very short amount of time. Since its establishment, other comparable companies have sprung from the same idea or something very close to it. At present, there are at least a dozen companies to rival Uber. However, even with all the competition, Uber is the largest in terms of the variety of services available, where it operates, and market valuation. Uber is available in 58 countries and over 400 cities, with a market valuation speculated as high as $70 billion. Uber’s story of success did not happen without controversy. Regardless, Uber is now on everyone’s radar—regulators, academia and those who need to get to their destination.

    Corrective or Critical? Commenting on Bad Questions in Q&A Andrew W. Vargo1, Shigeo Matsubara1 1Kyoto University Abstract What kind of comments do Q&A community members prefer on bad questions? We studied this question on Stack Overflow, a large-scale community-run question-answer site with strong reputation and privilege systems and clear guidelines on commenting. Peer-production systems often employ feedback dialogue to engage with producers of low quality content. However, dialogue is only beneficial if it is constructive, as previous work has shown the adverse effects of negative feedback on quality and production. Previous studies indicate that feedback is likely critical, but the extent, orientation, and actors within this assumption are unknown. In this paper, we contribute a basic taxonomy of commenting and perform analysis on user types and community preferences. Results indicate that the most popular and frequent comments include criticism, and that different user types leave similar feedback. A better understanding of community feedback norms can inform the design of effective rules and incentives for peer-production systems.
