“A Study on Product Positioning of Volvo Cars” CHAPTER 1 THEORITICAL INTRODUCTION Introduction to Marketing The objective of all business enterprises is to satisfy the needs and wants of the society. Marketing is, therefore, a basic function of all business firms. When a salesperson sells washing machines, a doctor treats a patient or a Government asks people to take their children for getting polio drops, each is marketing something to the targets. Traditionally, small firm owners did not give as much importance to marketing as to other functions such as accountancy, production and selling. Training programmers, enterprise development and the current thrust for competitiveness have now given high priority to promoting marketing awareness among small business owners, and marketing is now assuming its rightful place along with the other business functions. Since early 1990’s, there has been a change in the thinking of businessmen from product orientation to consumer orientation. Modern business concerns lay emphasis on ‘selling satisfaction’ and not merely on selling products. The activities have to be coordinated so as to develop the marketing mix, which provides maximum satisfaction to the customers. That is why marketing research and product planning occupy an important role in marketing. The other important functions of marketing include: buying and assembling, selling, standardization, packing, storing, transportation, promotion, pricing and risk bearing. Thus, the scope of marketing is very wide and no more restricted to merely selling products. Ringhalsveteranerna Höstresan 2015-09-09 Sidan 1av 4 Ringhalsveteranernas höstresa till Volvo och operan i Göteborg. Till årets höstresa hade 44 deltagare anmält sitt intresse, varav 37 Veteraner och 8 respektive. Bussresan startade kl. 07,30 från järnvägsstationen i Varberg och sedan vidare mot Göteborg via Bua, Frillesås, Kungsbacka och Mölndal där de sista deltagarna hämtades upp. Resan arrangerades av S&S Resor i Falkenberg med den påläste guiden och reseledare Henric Bulten. Henric gav oss alla en synnerligen omfattande bakgrund om alla de platser och händelser som genom åren har inträffat på alla de platser vi passerade med vår buss. Dagens program Dagens program började med en god frukostmacka och en mugg med kaffe på Hotell Scandic i Mölndal. Därefter ett besök på Volvos museum i Arendal på Hisingen. Sedan ett besök på Göteborgs Operan för lunch innan en guidad rundtur ”bakom scenen” i Operahuset. En snabbis till Ramberget och utsikten över Göteborg blev plötsligt inplanerad då vi hade gott om tid innan rundturen med ”Blå tåget” på Volvos bilfabrik skulle starta. Volvo (Jag rullar än!) År 1924 bestämde sig de två grundarna Gustaf Larson och Assar Gabrielsson, för att konstruera en svensk bil. Det officiella datumet för Volvos grundande är den 14 april 1927, då den första bilen lämnade monteringslinjen i fabriken på Hisingen i Göteborg. Besök på Volvo museum Ett besök på Volvo museum är en riktig nostalgitripp för alla oss som har hunnit upp i pensionsåldern! Alla de gamla välkända och okända Volvo bilarna fanns uppställda på muséet. Volvo museum invigdes 1995 och drivs gemensamt av AB Volvo och Volvo Cars. -

Studier påvisar också att svenska logistikkostnader är höga. Västra Götaland är en viktig region för tillverkningsindustrin där Volvo Car Corporation är den största personbilstillverkaren i Sverige där tillverkningen sker i Torslanda i Västra Götalandsregionen. Det finns inga tidigare genomförda studier i Sverige som talar för hur stora logistikkostnaderna är för ett företag och vad som påverkar dess storlek, därför är den valde frågeställningen: Vilka är logistikkostnaderna, vad påverkar hur stora de är och hur förhåller de sig till varandra för Volvo Car Corporation? Arbetet har genomförts på Volvo Cars i Torslanda under våren 2019. Vi skulle vilja tacka våra handledare på Volvo Personvagnar, Claes Annerstedt, Thomas Almen, Christer Bergström och vår examinator Göran Gustafsson på Institutionen för industri- och materialvetenskap på Chalmers. SAMMANDRAG Detta projekt har utförts på Volvo Personvagnar, Strategy & Innovations, Vehicle hardware i Torslanda, Göteborg, med målet att ta fram ett underlag för hur en konstruktion av ett biltak för Volvo Personvagnar med ökad takhöjd skulle kunna utföras. Syftet med den ökade takhöjden är att skapa rymlighet i bilkupén genom att öka kupéutrymmet. Syftet är också att öka rörligheten för passagerarna inne i kupén. Volvo Personvagnar önskar att detta förhöjda biltak ska kunna eftermonteras utanför deras befintliga fabrik då höjdrestriktioner omöjliggör sedvanlig montering. De två resulterande koncepten som togs fram under arbetets gång är båda konstruerade i ett kompositmaterial där olika material samarbetar för att ge särskilda egenskaper. -

In order to underline and retain the exclusive character of these cars, they will be built in a very limited number. LUXURY Star of the action models is the Millionaire. This model, based on the 340 GLE 4-door sedan, is representative of what Volvo Car B.V. has to offer in the way of luxury, ride comfort and quality. Depending upon the market variant, an engraved plate will be mounted on the dashboard showing the serial number, the number of cars built in this limited series and the date of manufacture. While the standard specification provides for a 1.7-litre engine, this may vary from country to country. The exterior colour is smoke silver metallic with a special silver-grey striping. Equipment includes colour-matched bumpers and petrol filler cap, 13" alloy wheels, wide body side protection mouldings, padded head restraints at front and rear, a three-band radio/cassette unit with digital readout, two loudspeakers (one in each front door), central locking, electrically operated front door windows, a rev counter and oil pressure and temperature gauges.
