And she's hooked to the silver screen But the film is a saddening bore For she's lived it ten times or more She could spit in the eyes of fools As they ask her to focus on Sailors fighting in the dance hall Oh man look at those cavemen go It's the freakiest show Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy Oh man wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show Is there life on Mars?”

This song is very uplifting for me personally. The piano helps tie the song into a piece that flows. It helps me when days get rough and stressful. The lyrics are weird just as David Bowie is, but that is what helps make the song complete for me. I am unique and so is this song.

The (Somewhat Believable) Life of Oswald the One-Eyed Icelandic Prince

CHARACTERS

Prince Oswald- the misunderstood prince (played by Redmayne) King Edvard- the strict unwelcoming father (played by David Bowie) Queen Charlotte- the loving mother Prince Heinrich- the evil brother

The audience sees a dark stage. Then fog appears, coming from stage, right and left. Next, Oswald comes down from the top of the stage into center stage. (As he is ascending, the song, “Gods and Monsters” {The American Horror Story cover}, begins.) He begins singing as soon as he hits the stage. Then the aliens from Mars come and sing the background music in acapella form. As the song ends, everyone runs off stage.

The first scene begins as the royal family is at dinner and King Edvard is drilling Oswald about being a soon-to-be king. Oswald needs to find a wife, but insists that Earth people are just too mediocre and are quite a bore to him. So Oswald then suggests that he must go to Mars and find a weird bride that only has one eye just as he does.(As they argue, the orchestrated version of “Life on Mars?” plays) and Oswald then storms off stage (to his room) *insert scene change*. Oswald is busily at work (Fleetwood Mac’s song “Dream” plays) He sings along. Heinrich then enters after the song is over and explains that Oswald should follow his dreams and go to Mars Page 6 T.A.B. Newsletter and find his wife. (Knowing that Oswald won’t return, Heinrich hastily runs to tell his father his devious plan to kill Oswald so Heinrich, the responsible one, can take the throne.)

The next day, Oswald gets in the family spaceship and goes to Mars. (As he is getting the spaceship, the family is singing “Space Oddity”.) Oswald then departs towards the nearest wormhole. (As he enters the wormhole, the song “Under Pressure” plays. Oswald sings as the stage grows darker and darker and the song ends.) Then you hear a loud crash and see Oswald in a pile of sand surrounded by aliens. He is then escorted off to the King’s palace, where he sees a beautiful one eyed blue alien princess. Oswald then has to explain to the Royal Family from Mars who he is and why he is there. The King of Mars then takes a moment to think about the request of Oswald. Then he finally says that if Oswald wants to marry Liesel (the one-eyed princess) he must have an archery contest with the prince of Mars (Harold).

Oswald then grows worrisome, because the last time he had an archery contest, he shot his eye out. So that afternoon the entire sand desert Mars population watches the contest take place! (As they have the contest, the Mars population is singing “Icky Thump”.) Oswald wins! The king is surprised and grows mad at Oswald. Oswald then grabs Liesel, and they run off to the spaceship and launch off into space towards a wormhole. The stage goes darker and darker. Finally, the stage becomes lighter and a wedding scene is set on the stage. Edvard and Heinrich look incredibly bad and disgusted that Oswald succeeded. They get married. The entire cast comes on to stage and sing “Dirty Paws” and the stage grows darker as Oswald and Liesel are lifted off the stage and into darkness.

The End :)

Author Spotlight by Sophia Rouse Name: Markus Zusak

Bio: He is from Australia. His parents were Austrian and German immigrants, who could neither read or write in English. Since they both couldn't communicate in English, they both pushed for their children to be able to. At age 16, Zusak began writing. He obtained a teaching degree from University of Sydney. Before officially becoming a professional author, he was a house painter, janitor, and, of course, a teacher. His first book, like many other authors, was rejected. Finally, The Underdog was published. His next novel, The Wolfe Brothers, won numerous awards. After that he published The Messenger (published in the U.S. as I am the Messenger). This book has won numerous awards abroad. The most nationally known book he published is called The Book Thief. This is his only book that has been turned into a movie.
