Jean Louis Calderon str., Bucharest, Romania Abstract: The paper deals with the exploitation of coal in the Jiu Valley, starting from the mining tradition and the future of coal. On the other hand, the shortcomings of the coal exploitation are looked over, which have focused the public’s attention many times through the collective injuries produced in the Jiu Valley. The stages of restructuring the Hunedoara Energy Complex and all the challenges in its evolution after 1989 are analyzed in terms of economic aspects. Dynamic phenomena in coal exploitation are major hazards and safety concerns related to methane present in longwall face goafs. Effective management of methane from coal mines can also have the benefit of contributing to reduced or minimized GHG emissions and to reduce explosion risk by preventing the occurrence of explosive mixtures and by rapidly diluting them to safe concentrations. In this respect, the possibilities of evaluation and optimization of the ventilation system by computerized methods were reviewed. (2) din Ordonanța Guvernului nr. 7/2006 privind instituirea Programului de dezvoltare a infrastructurii și a unor baze sportive din spațiul rural, aprobată cu modificări și completări prin Legea nr. 71/2007, în temeiul art. 108 din Constituția României, republicată, și al prevederilor Legii bugetului de stat pe anul 2007 nr. 486/2006, cu modificările și completările ulterioare, Guvernul României adoptă prezenta hotărâre. Asociatia Microregiunea Tara Hategului -Tinutul Padurenilor GAL a acordat finantari nerambursabile 100% in valoare de 1.644.444 euro unui numar de 45 de proiecte de investitii depuse de 24 de beneficiari publici membri GAL in cadrul a trei masuri din Planul de Dezvoltare Locala 2007-2013/2015 a GAL, respectiv: - 41 proiecte pe Masura 41.322 - “Renovarea, dezvoltarea satelor, imbunatatirea serviciilor de baza pentru economia si populatia rurala si punerea i n valoare a mosternirii rurale” - 2 proiecte pe Masura 41.125 - “îmbunatatirea si dezvoltarea infrastructurii legate de dezvoltarea si adaptarea agriculturii si silviculturii” - 2 proiecte pe Masura 41.313d - “Incurajarea activita tilor turistice” componenta d- “Dezvoltarea si/sau marketingul serviciilor turistice legate de turismul rural “. 29 Romania 29.1 Summary of Coal Industry 29.1.1 ROLE OF COAL IN ROMANIA Coal accounts for 29 percent of energy production in Romania (EIA, 2014). Romania’s proven coal reserves are estimated at about 291 million tonnes (Mmt) and the country ranks 20th worldwide in coal production (see Table 29-1). More than 80 percent of Romanian lignite reserves can be mined profitably in opencast mines, while the remaining 20 percent require underground mining (Euracoal, 2014; WEC, 2000). Table 29-1. The coal deposits are grouped into four zones: Zone I, mainly located in the Southern Carpathian Mountains, includes all the high-grade coal such as anthracite, pit coal (higher ranking than brown coal – bituminous and sub-bituminous), and brown coal (lignite) from the Petrosani, Anina and Tebea-Brad basins. Zone II, located within the Pre-Carpathian creep, between the Olt and Valea Buzaului rivers, includes the lignite deposits of Campulung, Sotanga, Filipestii de Padure, and Ceptura. The coal basins of the Eastern Carpathian are also included within this zone: Baraolt-Virghis (lignite) and Comanesti-Bacau (brown coal). More than 90 percent of Romanian coal reserves are located within Zone II, namely in the mining basins of the Oltenia Region. -
Draft Map and the List of Administrative Units
Defining the Scope of Application for the Strategy for Development of Sustainable Tourism of the Carpathians: Draft map and the list of administrative units The Carpathian Convention Working Group on Sustainable Tourism at its meeting on 12-14 May 2014, Bratislava, Slovakia, discussed the map presented below. The Working Group concluded that along with administrative units, the map should include the geographical scope of the Carpathians as it is currently defined by the Party. The geographical scope of the Carpathians defines the core area for implementing the actions outlined in the strategy, while the administrative borders are useful for decision making, resource allocation and monitoring purposes. The Working Group decided to develop two maps that may be useful during the implementation of the strategy: 1. A map of local administrative units on LAU1 level in EU countries, “raions” in Ukraine and municipalities in Serbia that also features the geographical scope of the Carpathians. Such map may be helpful when involving the authorities and stakeholders into project development and implementation and when action is needed for decision making and implementation on the smallest administrative level. 2. A map of administrative units at NUTS3 or NUTS2 level, “oblast” in Ukraine and districts in Serbia that also features the geographical scope of the Carpathians. Such map would be useful when action is needed on the regional decision level, and whenever the interlinkage of the Carpathians with surrounding areas is important (e.g. for optimizing -

Result of the Historic Evolution and Contemporary Urban Planning Tool
ROMANIAN REVIEW OF REGIONAL STUDIES, Volume XII, Number 1, 2016 BUILT HERITAGE IN THE LAND OF HAȚEG – RESULT OF THE HISTORIC EVOLUTION AND CONTEMPORARY URBAN PLANNING TOOL GHEORGHE-GAVRILĂ HOGNOGI1, ANA-MARIA POP2 ABSTRACT – The Regional Geography papers, especially those dedicated to the “land”-type studies sequentially mention certain historical aspects, because historical evolution is treated largely as having a supportive role, far from becoming a component of interaction. This research aims to address the historical evolution of the Land of Hațeg in the light of the specific territorial elements and to provide evidence for using the built heritage as a tool for decision-makers. Methodologically, the research has implied the completion of three stages, each with its specific work methods (direct observation, mapping, chorematic analysis). The findings highlight the applicative and utilitarian character of historical studies in the land use planning documents. Keywords: Land of Hațeg, historical monument, land use planning, chorem INTRODUCTION Over the last decades, the emphasis is increasingly being placed on interdisciplinarity, regardless of the type of study addressed. This is also the case of the Regional Geography papers, where the interrelations between various territorial components argue its functionality (Cocean, 2011). In addition, although historical studies have been regulated since the 1990’s as components of the urban planning documents, they are currently not mandatory. For this reason, they are often not included. They were left at the discretion of beneficiaries who considered they did not have much impact due to the fact that many of them contained only a brief history not related to other elements of a planning document. -
Artefacts from the Archaeological Repository and Their Interpretations in the Office: the Case of a Prehistoric Copper Ornament from Boholt
[Tastați text] ARTEFACTS FROM THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL REPOSITORY AND THEIR INTERPRETATIONS IN THE OFFICE: THE CASE OF A PREHISTORIC COPPER ORNAMENT FROM BOHOLT Cristian Ioan POPA* Abstract. The present discussion is focused on a copper ornament discovered in the Coţofeni settlement from Boholt-“Ciuta.” Until now, it has erroneously been considered to be a necklace, but a direct analysis of the artefact has shown that it is, in fact, a bracelet with rolled ends. The issue with the terminology used in the case of such items has been discussed at length, as were the reasons why the ornament from Boholt is not a necklace but a bracelet ring, as were the very rare analogies for this type of item from a previous period (Cucuteni culture, “the pill-shaped handle” horizon). Keywords: bracelet, necklace, Coţofeni culture, Eneolithic. A metal ornament was discovered approximately four decades ago, in a prehistoric settlement in Boholt (Şoimuş commune, Hunedoara County). According to the museum record, the artefact was subsequently the subject of a paper presented by Ioan Andriţoiu in Alba Iulia in 1981.1 However, neither the paper nor the artefact were ever published in detail; a few years later, the author of the discovery merely made a few remarks regarding the object.2 Some references to the item were made later, but without actually showing it3 but simply relying on the functional classification made by Ioan Andriţoiu.
