Players Code of Conduct:

Canada Beach wants an enjoyable experience for everyone. In order to create a positive environment we will strictly enforce a Code of Conduct that all participants in the league are required to acknowledge and uphold.

Canada Beach Sports has a Zero Tolerancy Policy for the following items/actions in all Sports.

o No Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, or Use of profanity will be tolerated o I recognize that the referee is the sole judge on the field, and that his or her decision is final. o No unsportsmanlike comments towards any league participant including officials, players, coaches, parent or child o No yelling at, threatening, touching or physically attacking any league participant including officials, players, coaches, parent or child o No mistreatment of property or facilities to include equipment, fields and buildings, parking lot

Canada Beach Sports have tailored the rules to improve the game speed and safety of the players. This will be reviewed at the end of each season and changes implemented for following year.

SUMMARY OF RULES: Co-ed Beach Flag

• Each team consists 7 players on the field. There is a minimum requirement of at least 3 players from either gender on the field at one time. (4 Males/3 Females) or (3 females/4 males)

• Each Game consists of two 25 minute halves

scored by male- 6 points

• Touchdown scored by female – 8 points

• Extra point : 1 Point from the orange cone. 2 Points from the red cone

: 6 points by male, 8 points by Female

• Safety – 2 points

• Each team will start the on their own goal line.

• Each team will have four downs to advance the ball to the next RED cone for a new set of downs, or score a touchdown. NO KICKOFFS

• Each team must play 4 downs. If the team is not able to get a first or touchdown the ball will be turned over to the other team starting possession on the goal-line. • Offensive Penalty: Loss of a Down

• Defensive Penalty: 5 yard penalty, unless pass interference which will be placed at the spot of the foul.

Scoring:

• Touchdown scored by male- 6 points

• Touchdown scored by female – 8 points.

• Extra point : 1 Point from the orange cone. 2 Points from the red cone

Field:

• The field is 40 yards x 25 yards. It is divided by midfield (Blue Cone), First down line (Red Cone), with an orange cone as the convert extra point convert.

Players:

• Each team consists of 7 players on the field. There is a minimum requirement of at least 3 players from either gender on the field at one time. (4 Males/3 Females) or (3 females/4 males)

• Teams are required to wear jerseys or matching-color shirts. Shirts must be tucked in with your flags and belt completely visible and accessible.

• Each player must wear a flag belt with two flags attached. (Provided by CBS) • Substitute players must be disclosed in the Captains huddle before the game begins. A minimum of 5 rostered players is required to avoid a forfeit.

• Teams must field min 5 players to avoid a foreit with a minimum requirement of at least 2players from either gender on the field at one time.

• No Substitions in the playoffs. Must be a registered player.

Game Start/End and Time Clock:

• Each Game consists of two 25 minute halves. Games will start promptly. Always running game clock. If a team does not have a full roster to start the game the other team will be spotted 14 points upto the first half. It th team still does not have the required players by the start of the second half they will forfeit the game.

• Games can not end on a defensive penalty. Offensive team will have one final play.

• The winning team is the team that scores more points than the other team. Games that end in a tie will not go into and will end in a tie, unless playoffs.

Game Play:

• Each team will start the ball on their own goal line.

• Each team will have four downs to advance the ball to the next RED cone for a new set of downs, or score a touchdown. NO KICKOFFS

• Each team must play 4 downs. If the team is not able to get a first down or touchdown the ball will be turned over to the other team starting possession on their goal-line.

• Team who start the game with possession, will not start in the second half with possession.

• Captain must let other Captain know whether he is going for 1 or 2 point conversion.

• This is a non-contact game. There should be no harmful physival contact towards another player.

Offense:

• Offensive Position and action during the . All players must be behind the . Motion is illegal.

• Teams will have 20 seconds to hike the ball or lose a down.

• The player who yells HIKE is the only player the ball can be snapped to. No direct snaps. Snaps that are fumbled are dead balls. If a snap is fumbled in your own , it will be ruled a safety. Any safety is two points for the defense and possession of the ball. • Only the QB can the ball once be rushed by the Blitzer. They must wait until the opposing teams Blitzer 5-count and says GO. The QB can only run once the blitzer has crossed the line of scrimmage. A runner may pass the ball backward at any time after the line of scrimmage. A backward pass (pitch) that hits the ground will be considered a at the spot it hits the ground. Once the ball has passed the line of scrimmage, you may only lateral once per play. A pass (pitch) that is intercepted by the defense can be advanced.

• A hand-off for rushing can negates the Blitz count and defense can rush the ball imediately.

• If any part of your body touches or is under outfield lines, or the line moves you will be ruled out. Both feet must be inbounds to be considered a catch.

• Only one legal can be made per down. A forward pass must be past the line of scrimmage.

• A completed catch is complete control of the ball with two feet inbounds.

• If a players knee, elbow, body or the ball hits the ground without being touched, they will be ruled down and the play is over.

- The opposing team will start the ball on their own goaline if the offesnice team has crossed midfield. Otherwise the turnover on downs will start at the first down line..

• There is absolutely no diving by the ball carrier, blocking, or fighting at any time.

• The ball must cross the goaline for it to be a touchdown.

Offensive Penalties:

• Guarding the flag: Runners shall not flag guard by using their hands, arms, or the ball to deny opportunity for an opponent to pull or remove the flag belt. No stiff arming or jumping to avoid a flag pull! Guarding the flag will result in a loss of down. Hurdling over an opponent is illegal and will result in a loss of down. 4 accumlated fouls will result in an automatic turnover on downs with the ball placed on the opposing teams goaline.

• Intentional grounding: ANY intentional grounding including on a blitz will result in a loss of down

• Only one legal forward pass can be made per down. If more than one occurs, it will result in a loss of down. • Delay of Game: Results when the offsive team does not have hike the ball within the 20 seconds. Results is a loss of down.

• Illegal blocking reults in a loss of a down. Player blocking must be stationary.

• Too Many Players on the field results in a loss of a down.

Defense:

• Defensive Position during the snap – Defense must set up with players a minimum of 5 yards from the line of scrimmage.

• The Blitzer must make himself visible to the QB by putting his hand in the air once the ball is hiked. The Blitzer must count out lowed as well as use their hand to count to five before shouting GO. A quick count to five will result in a penalty with the ball advanced 5 yards.

• More than one Blitzer is allowed, but all Blitzers must have their hand up with one defender counting. On GO all Blitzers may rush the QB.

• A defender must remove the one of ball carriers flag to stop the play.

Defensive Penalties:

• NO CONTACT. Holding a player in attempt to impede their progress in general or to grab their flag will result in a 5 yard advancement from the end of the play. If a player is held inside the first down mark with a clear path, the player is awarded a TD and a replay of down.

• The Blitzer must reach for the flags and not the QB’s arm. Touching the QB’s arm or impeding their throw in any way will result in a 5 yard penalty. There is no limit to the number of players who may rush.

• NO CONTACT. Pass interference is defined as an attempt to impede a catch. If interference by the defense, it will result in a penalty at the spot of the foul and replay of the down. If interference by the offense, it will result in a loss of down.

• Too Many players on the field results in a 5 yard penalty and replay of down.

Disciplinary Parameters: Yelling, offensive language or aggression towards a ref or opponent WILL NOT be tolerated. We understand that at times you may want to voice your opinion about a call or a rule. This is ok, however only the captains can question the referee in a CALM manner. Be mindful that the referee’s are trying as hard as they can and can make a mistake. This happens at the pro-level. Excessive aggressiveness, unsportsmanlike conduct towards players/referee’s/ your own team members, and other form of conduct detrimental to the League will result in ejection of the game, suspension from the league or a lifetime ban. All disciplinary decisions are enforced by the CBS a seasonal or as-needed basis. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Drinking is strictly prohibited on the Beach. Any player found drinking will be asked to leave the permitted area. If a player refuses to leave, it may result in a forfeit of their game. Injuries: If any player is injured during a game, they are to stop playing immediately. If a player is bleeding, you must have the bleeding stopped and covered before you can return to the game. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. If a player is injured and can not move, the referee will stop the game clock. The game will then resume when the referee determines it is safe to do so.
