22 of 35 Q6. Which recreational opportunities do you feel need to be expanded/enhanced?

53 We need a nice, safe community playground similar to the one at Look Park in Apr 24, 2013 7:03 PM Northampton or the new park in Holyoke (which is fantastic)

54 boating on Nasawannuck Pond Apr 24, 2013 6:06 PM

55 The Nonotuck Spray park would be used more if open earlier in the day, 10 or 11 Apr 24, 2013 6:01 PM at least!!

57 Nonotuck Pool is too expensive. Apr 24, 2013 3:15 PM

23 of 35 Q9. How satisfied are you with the places in the community for the following activities?

1 Would like to swim in Nashawannuck Pond, sometimes I do, but am concerned if May 16, 2013 12:58 PM it is safe. Wish there was data taken/tests on the safety of swimming.

2 definitely need a boat ramp on Nashawannuck Poind May 16, 2013 12:10 PM

3 I hate hunting. May 9, 2013 11:56 AM

4 I'm not satisfied with wetland and farm protection or wildlife corridors May 8, 2013 9:58 PM

5 Need dog specific area to prevent conflict with non dog walkers, or enforce the May 8, 2013 7:00 AM leash law.

6 There is a lot of trash around some of the ponds, lakes, and rivers. May 2, 2013 8:49 AM

12 Very Satisfied with the Tennis Courts at Williston Apr 25, 2013 5:45 AM

13 dog park would be great! Apr 24, 2013 4:10 PM

24 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

1 Could use an entrance to the bike trail in the center of downtown and perhaps a Jun 9, 2013 10:01 AM bike path going along northampton street so that those of us that live in the center could use it to get to shops and things but that's probably way too much wishful thinking.

2 A campground would be a great asset. May 23, 2013 8:26 AM

3 Repairs should be made to the WBMS Pool/bdlg to make it operational. The city May 23, 2013 7:58 AM should look at how Northampton uses facilities at JFK. Having the WBMS pool available for the swim team would be huge advantage. It seems like a huge waste for the pool not to be used. I'm not sure if we pay to use Williston pool or not, but we could save on the fee. The city could charge admission for home meets, other schools do.

4 Easthampton needs a community garden May 23, 2013 7:50 AM

5 There is no boat launch to Nashawannuck Pond May 23, 2013 7:48 AM

6 I walk/run in NOnotuck Park on a weekly basis. It is a beautiful place to be May 23, 2013 7:32 AM except when dog walkers don't put their dogs on a leash!!! Maybe more signs can be posted stating the importance of importance of a leash!!!

7 Manhan - we live on it, the rail trail is great May 23, 2013 7:25 AM

8 The abandoned orchard in the back of the community gardens at the Park Hill May 23, 2013 7:20 AM need to be revitalized. When Echodale Farms was saved, the city had plans for a trail system in that area-what happened? Saving what's left of the open space in the foothills of Mt Tom off East ST should be an urgent priority. RT 10 (Northampton Street) is becoming another strip mall and major traffic problem- we don't need more development there. The boathouse section of Nashawannuck Pond needs a major overhall. Landscape architect Bill Canon proposed a plan that showed be followed hopefully in the not too distant future.

9 need more info where places are, guide for public May 23, 2013 7:12 AM

10 keep as is or better May 23, 2013 7:09 AM

11 need indoor pool May 23, 2013 7:04 AM

12 once open space is gone it is gone May 23, 2013 7:02 AM

13 Easthampton has come a long way since I first moved here 40 years ago. Park & May 23, 2013 7:00 AM Rec Dept has done a very good job considering the size of it's budget good number plus variety of activities and fields for sports. Pascommuck conservation trust has provided many parcels in various parts of town. For recreation activities creation of bike path was very important especially the connection to Northampton. (Now we need Southampton to do their part)

14 Disabled so tough to use most facilities. Guide to educate public about town May 23, 2013 7:00 AM resources

15 Would love more sidewalks for walking safety May 23, 2013 6:56 AM

26 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

16 Keep on protecting the Earth May 23, 2013 6:52 AM

17 Thank you to the Pascommuck Conservation Trust. Easthampton needs to May 22, 2013 8:36 AM continue to support the protection of what little open space and farmland remains.

18 For the quality of life in Easthampton more open space needs to be protected. May 22, 2013 8:32 AM The citizens of Easthampton owe a debt of gratitude to the hard working Pascommuck Conservation Trust, Mayor Mike, Stuart Beckley, Jessica Allan, the CPA committee and most members of the City Council.

19 The main reason I don't use many of the conservation areas in town is because I May 17, 2013 8:38 AM don't know where they are. I would LOVE it if there were published maps of the areas and the trails, so that I could explore them! I think that the old playground equipment in nonotuck park needs to be modified or replaced for safety.

20 I love Easthampton and am so proud of the work our community leaders are May 17, 2013 5:36 AM doing to bring attention to our arts scene, our beautiful mountain and hiking trails, and our growing food scene!

21 Please let's dredge the pond so we can make it swimmable again! Thanks:) May 16, 2013 5:13 PM

22 Keep up the good work and protect, protect, protect! May 16, 2013 12:58 PM

23 I am a bike commuter 2x/week so consider all my answers skewed in that May 16, 2013 12:28 PM direction...

24 Dog park would be a great use of space May 16, 2013 12:22 PM

25 I'm quite sorry that the Nashawannuck Pond Steering Committee blocked the May 16, 2013 12:10 PM beach at the pond to vehicles. It was the only way we could easily launch our rowboat and now it has become more difficult. We were polite about not parking on the beach. Now it is both blocked and there is no parking. This seemed a bit extreme. I would like to see some access for small craft. Thank you

26 thanks May 16, 2013 10:57 AM

27 all of the parks and outdoor spaces need a major upgrade. nonotuck is outdated, May 16, 2013 10:52 AM and unsafe for young children and there are no pleasant areas to bring toddlers. also, it is practically impossible to access the bike path from rte 10 on bike coming from northampton. the road is too narrow and especially with a young child towing behind. the sidewalks are horrific. the roads need to be wider in all of downtown and to be more pedestrian friendly

28 Build the boardwalk. It will help build existing for downtown economic May 13, 2013 11:17 AM development.

29 The pool at Nonotuck Park is in need of repair & is becoming a hazard to the May 13, 2013 8:16 AM children who use it at camp. A track & improved football facility could assist with keeping students from leaving through school choice!

30 Please, please limit any further development east of East Street, or adjacent to May 11, 2013 11:16 AM Mt Tom. This is a precious part of our town that needs preserved!

27 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

31 I would be very enthusiastic about the proposed boardwalk. I feel that one of the May 10, 2013 8:39 AM biggest shortcomings of the cottage street area is the narrow street/sidewalk, which makes for a less than ideal pedestrian experience. I feel that the boardwalk would open up a bit of useful space near the cottage street area where people could congregate outdoors, enjoy ice cream, music, etc.

32 The rail trail system is awesome! May 9, 2013 5:54 AM

33 a trail on Park Hill Rd. would be a nice addition May 9, 2013 4:46 AM

34 The various means of transportation to get to these areas also needs to be May 8, 2013 9:58 PM thought out. We need safe bike travel on city streets on the way to the bike trail and safer pedestrian travel.Clear signage for bike lanes and pedestrian crosswalks on major routes is needed. Nortthampton Street isespecailly hazardous. Northampton did a great job for bikes and pedestrians on their section of Rte 10.

35 I would like to use/walk/snowshoe the conservation area by my house but I find it May 8, 2013 4:18 PM hard to know where it is ok for me to go.

36 Please expand the trail at Brickyard Brook and build the Nashawannuck May 8, 2013 3:35 PM boardwalk!!

37 I would love to see the proposed pond promenade by Cottage Street happen. May 8, 2013 3:23 PM

38 As mentioned previously, there is not much done to notify newcomers to May 8, 2013 1:07 PM Easthampton of the resources available. As a frequent reader of the weekly gazette, watcher of the Easthampton Good News page on Facebook, and walk- er of Easthampton's downtown, I still lived in town for over a year before I even knew locations like Mt. Tom (trails) or Nonotuck Park existed and were available for public use. Most of the items in this survey are still places I've not heard of in nearly 4 years of Easthampton residency.

39 Develop the shorelines of the Nashawannuck Pond and the Lower Millpond for May 8, 2013 9:31 AM access.

40 Trail around the pond would be great! May 8, 2013 9:29 AM

41 I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE WATER TRAIL HAPPEN AND UPDATE THE May 8, 2013 9:19 AM POND IN GENERAL!! I LOVE THE BIKE TRAIL I USE ALL THE TIME! I WOULD THE PUBLIC POOL TO HAVE CHAIRS TO LAY IN, BUT IN GENERAL I LOVE LIVING IN EASTHAMPTON!!!

42 I would love to see Easthampton become a place where people come to be May 8, 2013 8:13 AM outdoors, and with one another. Northampton has the shops, Easthampton should be the place people come to sit outside (outdoor cafes, build community spaces around the pond - a place that should be a real central point of convening for the city). We have an amazing park that we should be promoting more, and investing in updating some of the play areas for children - more open space, more attention to nature/the outdoors/community as a central value to the city -

28 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

43 I hope the ultimate goal is to protect these areas and enhance them with May 8, 2013 7:17 AM conservation in mind for all living things and not just to draw in more tourists.

44 Brickyard Brook, Nonotuck, and Mt Tom are the three parks I use the most. I May 8, 2013 6:33 AM love the Manhan bike trail for walking, running, and biking. Arcadia is our hidden jewel.

45 Easthampton needs to invest in open space and recreational activities that do May 8, 2013 6:23 AM not require substantial future funding. Spending $100 today should not obligate the town to spend $1000 ten years from now.

46 I have two young kids and we are big playground users at the moment. May 7, 2013 8:09 AM Easthampton's playgrounds are generally small, scattered, with mediocre maintenance, and none seem to be highly utilized. The renovated Community Field in Holyoke is extremely popular, seems to serve as a gathering point for people from surrounding towns since it provides a number of resources in a relatively dense area. This model could be implemented immediately adjacent to Easthampton’s downtown. The DPW facility, currently located downtown along the Manhan River, is a poor use of downtown space in an environmentally sensitive area. If it were relocated, a downtown recreational space could be created in its place. The space could provide access to the Manhan River, and could also be linked directly to downtown via footpath behind the old Town Hall building.

47 I think there should be no smoking in the parks and playgrounds and ball fields. May 2, 2013 8:49 AM

48 I think Nonotuck park needs an upgrade with the playgrounds for the kids. May 1, 2013 1:46 PM They're getting rusty & old and some of the kids dont seem satisfied with the park. Also, the Strong Street / Plain Street playground could have more play structure.

49 I would love to see more OPEN space and not any more land used for Apr 30, 2013 8:02 AM "Commercial" buildings. We need to protect natural habitats. No more -"Paved paradise and put up a parking lot" - Jodi Mitchell I see signs up for "Land for sale - development". Leave it be! Make it into a nice nature observatory - put up bluebird nesting boxes, bring nature in. My dream is to have a nature/science center here in town - open fields, hands on animal learning for kids, keep our farms+add more. I grew up here and it sickens me to see the amount of open space I had growing up to the development of houses people cant afford and more commercial buildings. Lets get a commitee going for KEEPING open spaces OPEN. Thanks for listening!

50 I am very disappointed that there don't seem to be many areas to go and have a Apr 28, 2013 11:54 AM picnic. I would love to see more picnic areas available to the public that don't require a cost to use.

51 Fix WBMS pool! Our community should have swimming available indoor and Apr 28, 2013 10:17 AM outdoor!

52 Dog park, extended ice skating hours at Williston, camping sites at Nonotuck Apr 28, 2013 8:36 AM park, natural swimming hole, playground/park/basketball courts in New City/Parsons Street area, boat rental (canoe, kayak) at Nashawannuck pond,

29 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

new playground inside Nonotuck (remove old slide, swings, etc.) across from Coughlin/Sheehan fields

53 I think Easthampton/Nonotuck Park has overly emphasized team sports. I would Apr 28, 2013 8:19 AM love to see the playgrounds improved. Besides the play area at the entrance, the parks playground are outdated and dangerous. My family spends more time at Look Park in Northampton because the play areas there are more family friendlsy.

54 Programs promoting safe boat/canoe use an swimming in open water would be Apr 27, 2013 5:35 AM welcome and encouraged. I'd love to see more people enjoying our natural water resources.

55 Team sports for adults would be great. More easily accessible information about Apr 26, 2013 8:23 PM open area trails (trail maps, locations, etc) would be great.

56 I love Nonotuck park, but feel that some funds and focus should go into safety Apr 26, 2013 6:40 PM and use for things other than baseball/soccer fields. i support the idea of a dog park within Nonotuck park that i know a friend of mine has proposed - i think it's a great idea and would use it. Also there are many trails at Nonotuck on the side near white brook - would love to have these better marked and maps available for hiking, biking, and snowshoeing. Also traffic is a HUGE concern in Nonotuck park - when sports practices or events get out cars (often driven by teens) are racing, driving so fast along the roads that it is noisy and scary. I feel like a tragedy involving a young child walking or biking could easily occur. Why don't the park officers ever enforce the posted speed limit? And why was the speed bump down by the new baseball fields removed?? If anything there should be several more speed bumps - not less. Please help make Nonotuck park safer and more accessible for walkers, bicyclists, children, and dogs! Also the pumpkin festival they started there is great - would love to see more festivals and family- friendly events at Nonotuck and Daley Field. Thank you.

57 keep open spaces. we need them! Apr 26, 2013 7:09 AM

58 Historic --Walking tours of Easthampton--- Community event showcasing Apr 26, 2013 4:17 AM outdoor activities & where conservation area/walking trails are. Community hikes-----

59 I'm not sure about the parking availability at some of the trail heads. It is Apr 25, 2013 7:56 PM important to have good parking access to the trails and playgrounds.

60 keep open spaces. stop putting up stuff (towers etc) to desecrate the mtn Apr 25, 2013 7:25 PM

61 Keep up the good jobs! Apr 25, 2013 6:36 PM

62 Nonotuck park road needs to be open year round and the playground facilities at Apr 25, 2013 6:31 PM the lower playground need to be updated. Would also like to see more fish stocked in Nashawannuck Pond, Lower Mill Pond and the Manhan River in order to improve the fishing experience and make them draws for others outside of town. .

63 I would love to see a dog park as well as places to Kayak - dog friendly! Apr 25, 2013 2:32 PM

30 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

64 Well, I think it is pretty ridiculous that when you sign up for a recreational sport Apr 25, 2013 1:27 PM that takes place at Nonotuck Park fields, you have to pay an additional fee to enter the park. They should give sport participants a pass when they sign up for whatever sport. That pass can be temporary or the stickers can be color coded by sport/season. Also, there could probably be a very profitable revenue stream if the fixed WBMS indoor pool. Yes, the cost to repair may be expensive up front, but, if there were after school/weekend lessons or free swim, I would think there would be a great deal of people who would like to take advantage of it for a reasonable fee, especially in the winter.

65 I had heard the pond area would be enhanced to encourage more recreation Apr 25, 2013 12:51 PM there. new ramp boating / swimming? would love to see that come to fruition.. its a jewel right smack in the heart of town that has tons of potental!

66 You're on the right path.... Apr 25, 2013 11:44 AM

67 Such a great place. Protect it from too much development! Apr 25, 2013 10:58 AM

68 I'm ashamed to say I haven't taken advantage of all of our resources! Perhaps Apr 25, 2013 10:32 AM we need some public outreach about all of the trails and other wonderful resources in out little city?

69 Please open the spray park at nonotuck earlier in the day. Apr 25, 2013 10:23 AM

70 Is there a comprehensive citizen guide to these resources? I don't know what or Apr 25, 2013 9:33 AM where a lot of these places are.

71 Please do something about the WBMS pool. It's a public shame that it is just Apr 25, 2013 9:12 AM sitting there with no one able to use it. Our residents have to go to Northampton or Holyoke to access a public pool.

72 There is access to wonderful spaces in Easthampton, but I find tend to need a Apr 25, 2013 8:33 AM car to access them with my family. Once in the car, we head to a different town for recreation with better resources. It could be the side of town we live in and because our daughter is young.

73 My personal use of the full diversity of land/resources in Easthampton (that is, if Apr 25, 2013 8:31 AM it's not close to my house, I pretty much don't) and my commitment to preservation are not the same thing. Safeguarding and improving open space, water resource and land management and preservation are not contingent on individual "use" of said areas of land/water, but are part of our commitment as a society. We hold responsibility to collectively to care for the land (and our extraordinary water supply) as best we can, and provide opportunities for all of our children, youth, and adults to access it. Outside the land management/trail/water categories, all I have to say is THE POOL! THE POOL! It is one of the best things Easthampton has to offer those who haven't financial resources to have long vacations. (and the rest of us who just plain prefer pools over lake/pond/river swimming) Clean, safe, supervised. Awesome.

74 The Manhan Rail Trail is a huge benefit to so many. Mt Tom is a delight also. It Apr 25, 2013 7:53 AM would be fun to make Easthampton more walker accessible - trails, cut-throughs, alleys, gateways between parking lots.Maybe a bridge between Non0tuck Park

31 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

and Water St. Nonotuck Park feels dark, maybe time to open up some sunnier picnic & play areas. The playground there is pretty antique too. But it's still a wonderful park.

75 There should be more carefully maintained public access to the shores of each Apr 25, 2013 7:41 AM body of water in town.

76 keep'em open for current and future generations! Apr 25, 2013 7:33 AM

77 I like the idea of making the whole downtown much more pedestrian and bike Apr 25, 2013 7:32 AM friendly. Protecting everything we already have is super important. It would be nice if the town could purchase more lots within the neighborhoods to develop more neighborhood parks and playgrounds- places for community to congregate. (i.e the lot between knipfer and briggs that's under development would have been a great inner neighborhood greenspace. Also, it would be nice to develop another community garden space closer to downtown.

78 The lower mill pond area needs to be cleaned up. I have lived in New City for 7 Apr 25, 2013 7:04 AM years and the area is an embarassment to the point of my wife and I moving out of town due to the absolute lack of respect and attention given to the area. There are crack pipes hidden inside of trees along the pond. We have pictures of them. There is garbage everywhere along the side walk, and the bank leading down to the pond. Why the town hasn't done something about the giant "Cops Rape" and "Fuck Cops" that has been spray painted on the side of the abondoned factory is beyond me. Something needs to be done before the low income housing project goes through because adding 100+ people to an area that is disrespected by the town and it's residents alike will lead to a monkey see monkey do state of mind. The pond is very nice and there is an impressive array of wildlife that lives there including uncommon birds. It's a shame that hte people that live here don't take care of it and it's a shame that that town hasn't done more to raise the public opnion of new city and it's residents.

79 Thank you! Apr 25, 2013 7:03 AM

80 I think our city is wonderful. I think we should use our resources to improve what Apr 25, 2013 6:58 AM we have rather than adding. For such a small city, we have a lot of parks and open space, which is great. But a new playground at Nonotuck park would be better than adding one elsewhere. The only exception is to add some younger play space to the park where the live music occurs on Friday nights in the summer. The little kids would probably really like some swings.

81 I'd like to see the Nonotuck park playgrounds vastly improved with more Apr 25, 2013 6:49 AM equipment for older kids (ages 10+) to use. I'd also like to see the pool scraped and painted.

82 I adore Easthampton and I'm happy to see that it is growing... I hope we can Apr 25, 2013 6:22 AM protect the open spaces we do have here, and continue to enhance recreational opportunities. I'd love to see the Nashawanuck Pond become a little more hospitable. And perhaps some upgrades to the older children's playgrounds in Nonnotuck. Thank you!

83 A dog park would be extremely beneficial. We go to Community Field in Holyoke, Apr 25, 2013 6:17 AM

32 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

but having one in town would be more convenient and allow us to get to know other people that also live here in Easthampton. With several dog services available in our town, this would be the natural next time.

84 It's extremely frustrating to see more and more fences appearing in Nonotuck Apr 25, 2013 6:08 AM Park, fencing off parts of what's supposedly a public park for the exclusive use of special interest groups. It's also frustrating to see more and more of the park being cleared and leveled for sports fields that hardly ever see any use.

85 I always thought the pool at Nonotuck park would attract more people if the Apr 25, 2013 6:05 AM fenced in perimeter was increased to include grassy and/or shady area. It is brutal in the summer to have to stay on the concrete surface.

86 I would like to see the open spaces remain open and undeveloped Apr 25, 2013 6:04 AM

87 The pool and tennis courts at the park are both huge assets to the community Apr 25, 2013 5:59 AM and I hope they can be preserved. They both seem to be falling into disrepair, so I don't believe they are considered as high a priority as I believe they should

88 It would be nice to have a Dog Park in town Apr 25, 2013 5:58 AM

89 Open space near new housing developments needs to be preserved, especially Apr 25, 2013 5:51 AM in areas around Mt. Tom and.or with scenic views and future development limited.

90 Would like an other park and picnic spot. Apr 25, 2013 5:46 AM

91 I live near Main/South St and am aware of a new conservation area - but I have Apr 25, 2013 5:45 AM not ventured out to find it along the Manhan yet. I learned about it late last year since it is near my neighborhood. Looking forward to it though. We have been utilizing the bike paths weekly and they are a gem of the city. Great to be able to walk into town to get ice cream, bagel or beer and not have to walk next to busy Main St (which is loud). I also have enjoyed Park Hill (I think that's what it's called). Best views in the city!!!

92 An outdoor snack bar/tiki hut would be great! Apr 25, 2013 5:45 AM

93 I did not know about all of the conservation/hiking areas noted in this survey. Apr 25, 2013 5:39 AM These should be promoted/advertised more to make public aware.

94 I'm a fan of open spaces. I feel the town has more than enough athletic fields but Apr 25, 2013 5:20 AM too few open spaces especially in terms on Nonotuck Park. Please do not clear anymore space for softball, baseball or soccer fields.

95 Keep the old playground equipment at Nonotuck. It's the best!! Apr 25, 2013 4:53 AM

96 The pond should be better utilized, I mean there is this great pond in the middle Apr 25, 2013 4:34 AM of town and there is absolutely nothing on it. No dock, No Boats for rent or otherwise nothing.....

97 You need to make it easier to ride a bike to get to the trails. Riding in town is Apr 25, 2013 4:32 AM dangerous.

33 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

98 KEEP OPEN SPACE IN NEW CITY - PARSONS STREET WOULD BE A Apr 25, 2013 4:31 AM GREAT PLACE TO HAVE A PARK SO EVERYONE COULD ENJOY IT - NOT A HOUSING PROJECT!!!!!

99 Nonotuck park pool needs shade or umbrellas. Rail trail expansion into Apr 25, 2013 3:04 AM Southampton should be encouraged and supported. The town should explore installation of a disc golf course in Nonotuck park. (See Wickham Park in Manchester, CT as an example. Contact Jason Johnson, a local expert and environmental consultant for advice.)

100 Would love to see a dog park, maybe in nonotuck? Apr 24, 2013 7:10 PM

101 I find emphasis on protecting farmland and open space as valuable efforts but Apr 24, 2013 6:52 PM lacking. For example much effort placed on protecting farm land on park hill but the land is underutilized for agricultural purposes. Open space is important but it often seems not to be public space.

102 I would love to see a fenced dog park at Nonotuck park. I would like to see more Apr 24, 2013 6:27 PM improvements to the playgrounds at Nonotuck park. I would love to see a boardwalk around nashawannuck pond, and/or a seasonal waterfront kayak/canoe/paddle boat rental option.

103 City forest stewardship needs improvement, you need to manage the resource Apr 24, 2013 6:06 PM better.

104 I LOVE the lending library on the Manhan Rail Trail! Very sweet and unique! Apr 24, 2013 6:01 PM

105 Water (aquifer) is a first priority, which means we need open space so it can be Apr 24, 2013 5:17 PM rejuvenated. Nonotuck is a great resource but underutilized (esp. by me). We should support anything that reduces traffic (e.g., bike paths, trails, etc.).

106 Love Nonotuck Park, Mt Tom, Arcadia and the Rail Trail! All Easthampton Apr 24, 2013 5:15 PM treasures!

107 Expand Park Hill Community Gardens! Let's look at other communities and see Apr 24, 2013 4:34 PM what great ideas we could enact there.

108 No Apr 24, 2013 4:32 PM

109 Very interested in preserving Nashawannuck Pond and Nonutuck Park. The Apr 24, 2013 4:10 PM only reason I haven't used some of the nature trails mentioned above is due to lack of information about them, not lack of interest. Dogs welcome are important - Arcadia doesn't allow them so I don't visit often.

110 I think Easthampton is doing a good job with the current open space and Apr 24, 2013 3:15 PM recreational opportunities available. I think that it's important to keep maintaining/upgrading recreational facilities. I do not want any more open space to be used for sports (i.e., soccer, baseball, and other sports).

111 I love you! Apr 24, 2013 2:36 PM

112 There are still some parts of town that are difficult to access safely by bike or thy Apr 24, 2013 2:10 PM require long detours for pedestrians. I would love to see easthampton find ways

34 of 35 Q11. Do you have anything else to tell us about your thoughts on Easthampton's open spaces and/or recreational opportunities?

to connect these parts of town with nature/bike paths and pedestrians bridges. It would make town so much more walk able.

113 I have been in town 8 years and there are many places on the list I have never Apr 24, 2013 1:37 PM heard of or have no idea where they are. Is there a website or brochure that lists these all?
