ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 18/19 Internationaux De France, Day Two
November 24, 2018 Lausanne, SUI ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 18/19 Internationaux de France, Day Two Favorites Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron (FRA), Nathan Chen (USA) and Vanessa James/Morgan Cipres (FRA) prevailed as competition wrapped up at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble Saturday with the Free Skating and Free Dance. Five skaters grabbed the last available spots for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. The Internationaux de France was the sixth and last event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2018/19. Nathan Chen (USA) rebounds to grab the gold in Grenoble World Champion Nathan Chen (USA) rebounded after a sub-par Short Program to take the gold. Jason Brown (USA) claimed the silver and the bronze went to Russia’s Alexander Samarin. Chen reeled off a quadruple flip, quadruple toe, another quad toe (in combination with an underrotated triple toe) as well as a triple Axel and four triples jumps in his program to “Land of All” by Woodkid. The American picked up a level four for his spins and a level three for his footwork to score 184.64 points. The U.S. Champion totaled 271.58 to win his second Grand Prix gold medal and qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. “I’m pretty happy with my performance of the long program, definitely more satisfied with the long than with the short,” the 19-year-old Yale student said. “I’m looking forward to continuing to develop the program and develop the technical side of the program.” Skating to a Simon and Garfunkel Medley, Brown produced four clean triples, including an Axel and exquisite spins. -

Nathan Chen (USA), Keiji Tanaka (JPN) and Boyang Jin (CHN) are the top qualifiers in the Men’s after winning their two events. Adian Pitkeev (RUS), Alexander Petrov (RUS) and Ryuju Hino (JPN) have reached the Final as well. Chen and the two Russian skaters will compete in their first Final. The substitutes are: Mikhail Kolyada (RUS), He Zhang (CHN), Shoma Uno (JPN). Evgenia Medvedeva (RUS) and Polina Edmunds (USA) lead the Ladies standings with two victories on the circuit. Alexandra Proklova (RUS), Karen Chen (USA), Maria Sotskova (RUS) and Serafima Sakhanovich (RUS) are the other qualifiers. All Ladies advanced to the Final in their international junior debut season. The substitutes are: Angela Wang (USA), Elizabet Turzynbaeva (KAZ) and Riona Kato (JPN). Russian pairs dominated on the circuit. However, Xiaoyu Yu/ Yang Jin (CHN) are the only pair to have taken gold in two events. The Chinese couple as well as World Junior bronze medalists Lina Fedorova/Maxim Miroshkin (RUS), Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalists Vasilisa Davankova/Andrei Deputat (RUS) and Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalists Maria Vigalova/Egor Zakroev (RUS) return to the Final. -

Battle for ISU Grand Prix Final Tickets Continues at Rostelecom Cup in Moscow
November 13, 2019 Moscow, Russia Battle for ISU Grand Prix Final tickets continues at Rostelecom Cup in Moscow The battle for the tickets to the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final becomes more and more exciting as the series gets to Rostelecom Cup, the fifth and penultimate event, in Moscow (RUS) this week. ISU World Figure Skating Ice Dance silver medalists Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsapalov (RUS) have just won their first ISU Grand Prix gold medal at Shiseido Cup of China last week and want to seal their spot. Skate Canada Champions Alexandra Trusova (RUS), Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier (CAN) and Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitrii Kozlovskii (RUS) as well have good chances to qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Torino (ITA). Sinitsina/Katsalapov (RUS), Uno (JPN), Medvedeva (RUS) headline Rostelecom Cup Internationaux de France silver medalist Alexander Samarin (RUS), Skate Canada silver medalist Nam Nguyen (CAN) and Skate America bronze medalist Dmitri Aliev (RUS) have the best chances to grab a spot in the Final. Meanwhile, Olympic silver medalist Shoma Uno (JPN) looks for redemption after finishing a disappointing eighth in Grenoble. Other contenders include 2018 Rostelecom Cup silver medalist Morisi Kvitelashvili (GEO), 2018 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Finalist Michal Brezina (CZE), Kazuki Tomono (JPN) and Deniss Vasiljevs (LAT).
