Page 10 GET SET KIDS STRAP ON A FIN and Learn to Swim! We know how important learning to swim is for all family members. It’s a popular after school and recreational activity. SwimFin has been designed by a highly qualified UK swimming coach with over 30 yrs experience. It’s a vertical aid and suitable for children from 2 yrs+ of all abilities.

SwimFin can be used on all 4 strokes and is the only aid to have been endorsed by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA). We’re very proud of that fact and are pleased to be partnered with leading organizations around the globe. So how will it help your child to swim? It works in harmony with the body because it’s worn on the back providing total freedom around the arms and legs allowing for a natural swimming position, with the fin working like a boat’s keel in the water.

Kids love SwimFin because the shark element appeals as a fun piece of kit and encourages them into the water. It appeals to parents because it makes learning to swim more of a game than a chore. Tests have proved that it can reduce the process by up to a third less time. It’s also perfect for taking on holiday as the fin is highly visible in a busy pool or on the beach! www.swimfin.co.uk GET SET KIDS Page 11

GET SET KIDS Page 23 An interview with Martin Gray

Former Sunderland player Martin Gray gives us a glimpse into his hectic life as he discusses life as a Director of his own football academy and being current Manager of Darlington FC.

It’s fair to say you pack lot into your schedule Martin, how do you manage each day? Well, I like to get into the office early to plan the day ahead. It means I have the chance to catch up with the team, allocate tasks and get organised before my phone starts ringing off the hook!

MGFA has grown hugely since it began, which aspect of your work are proudest of? I’m proud of everything that I’ve achieved. The weekly academy sessions and holiday courses are really popular and they’ll always be at the heart of the business as it’s where it all began. That said, the education enrichment programmes make such a huge difference to pupils, both in terms of their academic success and in their growth in confidence and self belief too. Working across the full range of ages from nurseries and primary schools to secondary schools and into the BTEC programme is a massive achievement and something that makes us unique in ensuring development and progression for children too.

And your current success on the pitch with Darlington FC must give you plenty to smile about? Absolutely, the players have performed outstandingly well so far this season, but while we’re all clear on our long term aims and have promotion firmly set in our sights, the focus always remains with the next game ahead.
