However, due to a high degree of morphological variability (as a consequence of their amphibious life-style), the taxonomy of this genus remains controversial. Thus, to fill this gap in knowledge, we present a detailed molecular phylogenetic study of this genus based on nuclear (rITS) and plastid (accD-psaI, psbJ-petA, ycf6-psbM-trnD) sequences using 27 samples from 13 species. On the basis of this phylogenetic analysis, we provide a solid phylogenetic background for the modern taxonomy of the European members of the genus. Traditionally accepted sections of this tree (i.e., Crypta and Elatinella) were found to be monophyletic; only E. borchoni—found to be a basal member of the genus—has to Submitted 20 May 2016 be excluded from the latter lineage to achieve monophyly. -

This report briefly describes the main vegetation types and lists the vascular plant species that are known to occur in and near the Pawnee National Grassland, Weld County, Colorado. A checklist includes the scientific and common names for 521 species. Of these, 115 plant species (22 percent) are not native to this region. The life forms, habitats, and geographic distribution of native and introduced plants are summarized and discussed. The distribution pattern shows some regularities: occurrence of locations along river valleys, formation of concentrated site clusters in some lowlands, wide distances between locations or site clusters or single locations between their clusters. The distri- bution patterns in central Europe seem to be rather well related to the history of the human migration in Europe at least since the Late Holocene. The scattered locations on the eastern part of the distribution area are likely to be a consequence of missing information, rather than to the fragmentation of its distribution. (Malpighiales Mart., Elatinaceae Dumort.) includes approxi- mately 15–25 species occurring in temperate areas of both hemispheres, mostly in the northern. Besides Elatine, the family includes the genus Bergia L. (TUCKER 1986). Species of the genus Elatine are phytogeographically quite interesting, since they are found in all continents, except Antarctica, mainly in the temperate zones, and reach their greatest spread in the northern hemisphere, both in terms of species-diversity and number of locations. -

One of them represents adventive species (E. ambigua Wight), recorded for the first time in Serbia at three localities in Srem, while the other two have been discovered at new localities: E. triandra Schkuhr at one locality in Srem and E. hungarica Moesz at three localities in Banat. They contribute significantly to the present knowledge concerning their recent distributi- on in Serbia and region. Key words: flora, chorology, Serbia. INTRODUCTION Genus Elatine L. (Elatinaceae) includes approximately 27 described species occurring mainly in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere 82 PERIĆ, R. ET AL.: GENUS ELATINE IN VOJVODINA AND SERBIA (Heywood et al. 2007, Popiela et al. 2015). They can be listed among the least known species of many regional and local floras, where in most cases they are equally rare and overlooked due to their sporadic ephemeral appearance only in specific amphibious habitat types, their small proporti- on, and peculiar, more or less disjunctive distribution pattern.
