DII – Tablet News

New iPads are being delivered and existing iPads are being re-imaged with the district managed MDM (AirWatch) standard. This week, 16 new iPads were set up for students, teachers and Special Education. Keith Elementary is planning to hand over the management of their iPads to DII. They were being managed using a campus Macbook and the Apple Configurator Utility. Nancy Grella and Michelle Campos will be at Keith Elem School on January 25th to assist teachers with resetting their iPads and getting them enrolled in Airwatch.

Nancy Grella, Lillie Swearingen, and Daniel Serwinek tested network switches at Black, Copeland, Postma, and Danish as the ECN group rolls forward with the switch change out at the Elementary schools.

DII uses a script created by Josh Zhang, which performs ping tests on several sites outside of the District network and then multiple servers within the District network to verify full connectivity. DII tests each switch individually.

This week, The ZEN Zone 1 SQL server crashed and the ZEN05 server had a RAID error, causing it not to respond to requests. ZEN Zone 1 was completely down.

Josh Zhang realized the problem and contacted Mike Raspet in NMO to troubleshoot the issue. Josh and Mike are responsible for fixing the problems with the SQL server, ZEN05, rebooting the remaining servers in Zone 1, and bringing the Zone back up successfully.

A great example of inter-departmental teamwork!

Quite a few bundles were updated or built this week, including:

• iTunes (latest version) • QuickTime (latest version) • Logger Pro (now compatible with XP) • Wireless Blacklist (available in Technician ZEN windows) • ActivInspire (to include ActivDriver)

DII continues to troubleshoot issues with the following bundles, and is currently testing them at campuses before releasing an update: • Dreamweaver CC Extensions • MicroType 6 • MasterCam x9 Update • Bridge Designer 2016

To the right, you can see a screenshot of a bundle build, this example is for iTunes. iTunes requires a different version for XP and Windows 7/8 due to compatibility issues. Many bundles have this many steps, or more, to install and configure the software for deployment.
