Academic Excellence

Serving Others

• St. Mary’s students are involved in a wide variety of service activities coordinated by the Campus Ministry department • More than 100 students participate in Rachel’s Challenge, meeting weekly before school to plan community-service projects • Hunger for Justice is a 35-hour retreat on Easter weekend in which students join peers from other schools to fast, reflect and participate in a day of service in Boston and on the North Shore • St. Mary’s students participate in the Walk for Life and the March for Life in Washington, D.C

• The more than 10,000 living St. Mary’s alumni reside in 49 states (all except North Dakota) and 23 countries • There are 8 alumni on the faculty at St. Mary’s; 24 alumni are on the coaching staff

Championship Athletics

• St. Mary’s fields teams in 21 sports that compete in the Catholic Central League • 91 percent of National Honor Society members are student-athletes • 64 percent of students tried out for at least one sport in 2012–13 • Overall record of varsity teams in 2011–12 was 211–129–5 (.619 winning percentage), highlighted by the boys basketball team winning a state championship, the girls hockey team advancing to the state final and the boys hockey team qualifying for the Super 8 • Twelve students were named Boston Globe or Boston Herald All-Scholastics in 2012–13 • St. Mary’s teams have won 18 MIAA state championships in eight sports in the last 25 years, including: girls hockey (5); boys basketball (3); baseball, boys golf, girls basketball and softball (2 each); and football and boys soccer (1 each)

Fine Arts & Performing Arts

• Fine Arts and Dance Courses are offered • St. Mary’s students have the opportunity to display their art in the local Lynn Museum • The Drama Club stages two performances each year, a forty-minute one act play as part of a state competition and a full-length musical production • In the 2011-12 academic year, St. Mary’s was honored at the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival finals: the one act play The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon made it to the final round and individual students received acting and technical design awards

Supporting the Mission

• The Annual Fund is designed to provide financial support for St. Mary’s programs and operations • Gifts to the Annual Fund bridge the gap between what the school receives in tuition and the actual cost of educating 600 students • Annual Fund gifts are generally unrestricted and help the school meet critical needs in several areas, including: academic programs, tuition assistance, classroom technology, staff development, Campus Ministry, fine arts and athletics • There are nine giving levels—from $25,000+ to up to $99. Those who donate $1,000 or more become members of the Cardinal Cushing Society and are recognized at an annual reception at the Club School Profile 2013-14
