In Mureş County, the Transylvanian Plain, stretches on the north of the Mureş River and it is a lowland region consisting of gently rolling hills (average elevation – 400 m), with wide valleys formed by the tributaries of the Mureş river that crosses among the hills. The analysis studied the floristical diversity of the area taking into consideration the presence of some endemic species that gives specificity to the flora of the Transylvanian Plain. Among endemic species we mention Aconitum lycoctonum L. em. Koelle ssp. moldavicum (Hacq.) Jalas, Astragalus exscapus L. ssp. transsilvanicus (Barth) Jav., Pulsatilla vulgaris Mill. ssp. grandis (Wender.) Zämels etc. There is a stringent need for effective protection and conservation of these species and their habitats as they are affected by the constantly growing human impact. (NT) The subspecies Astragalus exscapus ssp. transsilvanicus, endemic for the Transylvanian Plain, is part of the steppe-sylvosteppe plant species with rare populations, relict from the sylvosteppic parts of the Transylvanian Depression. The species in the study area belongs to coenoses classified within the Melampyro bihariensis-Carpinetum (Borza 1941) Soó 1964 em. Coldea 1975 association. These forests populate slopes of slightly or moderately inclined hills with northern or intermediate exposure. They prefer the soils with moderate humidity, to a relatively abundant humidity, Fig. 3. The main pressures/threats that affect the habitat of this species and also the effective population size are related to human impact. Concerning the conservation status, the field observations show that the populations are decreasing but they are in an average or good state of conservation. Fig. 4. However all of them are nowadays under a huge anthropic pressure (Bădărău & all., 2000, 2001). The grasslands where this subspecies was recorded in the study area belong to 62C0* Ponto-Sarmatic Steppes and 6240* Sub-pannonic steppic grasslands Natura 2000 habitats. Methods – The morphological features and meiotic chromosome number and behaviour were studied in O. avajensis Ranjbar. Key results – The novelty Onobrychis avajensis Ranjbar, endemic to Iran, is described and illustrated from two collections from a single locality between Avaj and Abgram in Qazvin Province in the west Zagros. It is closely related to O. andalanica Bornm. but differs from it in a few morphological characters. In addition, meiotic chromosome number and behaviour were studied in O. avajensis. This report is the first cytogenetic analysis of this taxon. O. avajensis is a diploid plant and possesses 2n = 2x = 16 chromosomes, consistent with the proposed base number of x = 8. The general meiotic behaviour of the species was regular, with bivalent pairing and normal chromosome segregation at meiosis. Meiotic abnormalities were observed included a varying degree of sticky chromosomes with laggards, precocious division of centromeres in metaphase I, bridges in anaphase I and multipolar cells in telophase II.

Also, the paper provides information about the hayfields floral richness, a great scientific value for Romania and Europe. The study of the flora was carried out in several stages: 2005-2008, 2013, 2017-2018. In the studied area, 397 taxa were identified, distributed in 82 families with therapeutic potential, represented by 164 medical taxa, 37 of them being in the European Pharmacopoeia 8.5. The study reveals that most plants contain: volatile oils (13.41%), tannins (12.19%), flavonoids (9.75%), mucilages (8.53%) etc. This plants can be used in the treatment of various human disorders: disorders of the digestive system, respiratory system, skin disorders, muscular and skeletal systems, genitourinary system, in gynaecological disorders, cardiovascular, and central nervous sistem disorders. In the study plants protected by law at European and national level were identified: Echium maculatum, Cephalaria radiata, Crambe tataria, Narcissus poeticus ssp. radiiflorus, Salvia nutans, Iris aphylla, Orchis morio, Orchis tridentata, Adonis vernalis, Dictamnus albus, Hammarbya paludosa etc. Keywords: Fărăgău, medicinal plants, human disease, Mureş County 1.

Its affinities with the allied species D. viscosum and D. cashmerianum are discussed. It differs from closely allied species in having bracteoles with hooked apex, shape of spur that resembles parrot’s beak, staminode with dense hoard of hairs at ventral apex, hairs in single line on the inner surface of ovary and cleft stigma. Key words: Lahul Valley, Himachal Pradesh, Delphinium lahulensis, sp. nov. Introduction While examining the herbarium sheets procured on loan from The Natural History Museum, London (BM), we came across an unidentified sheet of Delphinium species collected by J. D. A. Stainton (Coll. No. 8840) from, Miyar Nullah, Lahul (H.P.) at an altitude of 2743 m. Apparently, this plant looks like D. cashmerianum, therefore, Stainton was confused and commented on sheet “seems to match Drummond 1194 in the D. cashmerianum collection but I doubt that plant is correctly matched”. On critical examination, it was found that the characters of this plant from Lahul valley fall within Group V of Munz (1967) and is closely allied with D.
