Five tourism organisations, five cantons and private service companies succeeded in imple­ menting a major project in Central Switzerland for the first time ever: “Gästival” was held in 2015 to celebrate 200 years of tourism and hospitality in Cen­ tral Switzerland. Gästival was made possible by a joint sponsor­ ship association created by the tourism organisations in the cantons of Lucerne, Uri, Schwyz, Obwalden and . A broad range of Gästival activities and projects focused on hos­ pitality. The iconic centrepiece of the anniversary celebration was the Seerose (water lily), a floating platform on Lake Lucerne. The platform dropped anchor in each of the five cantons for several weeks at a time and served as a meeting place for the local popu­ lation, as well as a stage for cul­ tural events. Some 67 000 people visited the Seerose during the
