NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME HALF-YEARLY (JUNE- OCTOBER 2018) REPORT

1. “World Environmental Day” is celebrated in the college on 05.06.2018 with planting 50 saplings in the College premises.

2. “Fourth International Yoga Day” was observed on 21st June 2018. On this occasion Mr.R.Arumugam B.Sc., D.Pharm., LLB, Founder, “Krish Yoga Missionaries, Vaniyambadi” has briefed the benefits of Yoga and demonstrated various Asanas and pranayamas for all the staff members to enrich the holistic approach for their well-being. 3. “World Population Day” is celebrated on 11-07-2018. On this occasion Mr.A.David Subash Chandran Founder of Karunai Illam Vaniyambadi delivered the special talk on "The Impact of Population Explosion".

4. “Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme” was conducted between 15th July 2018 to 25th July 2018 in the following Villages a. Yelagiri Village, Jolarpettai Block, Tirupattur Taluk, Vellore District b. Kothakottai Village, Alangayam Block, Vaniyambadi Taluk, Vellore District. c. 5. The 3rd death anniversary of our former president, Bharat Ratna Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam was observed on 27th July 2018. On this day staff observed two minutes of silent before the portrait of late president.

6. Rotaract Club of Vaniyambadi Mid-town and NSS jointly organized “Tree Plantation and Installation of Rotaract Club of Priyadarshini Engineering” on 31st July 2018.

7. Rotaract Club of Vaniyambadi Mid-town and NSS jointly organized “Road Safety Awareness Rally Programme” at Vaniyambadi Bus Stand on 01st August 2018. 8. The “125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Speech at Chicago” was celebrated on 01st August 2018. On this day we conducted Essay Competition to the students.

9. The “Observance of Swachhta Pakhwada” was observed from 1st August 2018 to 15th August 2018 and conducted the various activities for the benefit of the people in and around Vaniyambadi.

10. On the occasion of “125th Anniversary Celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Lectures” our student Selvan.S.Habishekkizhar of Final Year ECE won the second prize in Essay writing. It was conducted by Ramakrishna Math, Natrampalli on 05th September 2018. 11. The “NSS Day Celebration and Orientation Programme” was conducted on 24th September 2018. The main objective of this orientation programme is to create awareness about the NSS and to motivate the first year students to involve themselves in the public welfare activities.

12. The NSS Cell Anna University, Chennai awarded the “Best NSS Volunteers Award” to our NSS Volunteer Selvan.M.Donpaul of III Year CSE on 28.09.2018 for his outstanding service rendered to the community. 13. Electoral Literacy Club of Tamil Nadu and NSS jointly organized “Awareness Programme on Enrollment of Electoral Roll” on 29th September 2018. The theme of this awareness programme was “No Voters to be Left Behind”. The Electoral Literacy Club created awareness of Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) through some cultural activities. 14. A “Blood Donation Camp” was jointly organized with Government Hospital, Vaniyambadi on 09th October 2018 at our College Mess Hall.

15. The 87th Birth Anniversary of our former president, Bharat Ratna late Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam’s was celebrated as “Youth Awakening Day” on 15th October 2018.

16. NSS Programme Officers Mr.R.Kubendran, AP/Physics and B.Nagarajan AP/CSE attended “NSS Orientation Programme and PFMS Training Programme” on 25.10.2016 at Anna University, Chennai. 17. The Birth Anniversary of our first Deputy Prime Minister late Sardar Vallabhai Petal was celebrated as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on 31st October 2018. To create awareness about the National Unity among students NSS Cell organized “Online Quiz Competitions and Essay Writing on National Unity” competitions. The winners were awarded prizes.
