It provides a home to soldiers that need support in Home of the Chelsea Pensioners their old age. There is a fascinating guided tour around the buildings, including the amazing Dining Room, led by a Chelsea Pensioner. There is a café and a small shop. Entry with the tour is £18 (reduced to £12 if 15 passengers travel). N.B. Next door is the Science Museum and across the road is the V&A Museum, claimed to be the world’s greatest museum of art & design. Wed 12th Kew Gardens Gardens 09.00am 3.00pm £21 The world-famous Kew covers 325 acres and includes lakes, extensive walkways, themed areas and a number of greenhouses housing Famous Orchid Festival a wide array of temperate plants and trees. In February 2020, Kew’s 25th annual orchid festival will celebrate the incredible wildlife London and vibrant culture of Indonesia. Stepping into the Princess of Wales Conservatory, visitors will find themselves transported to an entrancing paradise evoking some of the sights, smells and sounds of Indonesia. To capture a glimpse of the wonders of this vast region, the orchid festival at Kew will be an immersive journey through the different zones of the glasshouse, where visitors will find spectacularly beautiful orchid displays which each represent a different aspect of Indonesian wildlife and culture. March 20 Tues 3rd BBC Tour Tour 11.30am 3.30pm £13 Step inside the world of broadcasting at BBC Birmingham. An entertaining and informative guided tour explains how scripts get to the Birmingham screen, how production teams work, the technology and how BBC Drama is made. The tour lasts approx 1.5hours and does involve a lot of walking and standing. Visitors can also look in at the Visitor Centre and the interactive BBC Blue Room. The cobbled market-place, hidden alleys and yards are a delight to explore, and the wide and elegant Church Street is considered to be the finest street of Georgian buildings in Derbyshire. At the House, visitors can view the Norfolk very rooms that Her Majesty the Queen and all members of the Royal Family spend Christmas, and indeed over 6 weeks every year. Make sure to visit the Sandringham Exhibition & Transport Museum – home to the largest collection of Royal vehicles in any one place. A visit wouldn’t be complete without a stroll around the Country Park. Visitors are in for a treat with 243 hectares to enjoy. April 20 Tues 7th Evesham Garden Centre, Garden Centre 10.30am 3.00pm £13 Set in the beautiful surroundings of the fabulous shopping and leisure destination, The Valley in Worcestershire, at Evesham Garden Worcs Centre they stock a wide range of trees, plants and shrubs together with furniture, alfresco dining solutions and gift ideas. They also have their very own Apple Barn Restaurant, offering a carvery, lunches and snacks. With the country park & Evesham Vale light railway it’s a great day out for all the family. Thur 9th The Spencer Arms, Pub Lunch 11.45am 2.00pm £10 The Spencer Arms is a charming old pub in Chapel Brampton, halfway between the towns of and Market Harborough. Chapel Brampton Inside, beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces and roaring open fires, all century-old original features from the pub’s days as a coaching inn, give the place a warm, welcoming vibe. There is also the Butterfly Farm to visit less than a mile away from the drop off point, at an additional cost. Thur 16th Black Country Living Museum Museum 10am 3.30pm £14 Described as a living open-air museum. The main area has ‘streets’ of factories and shops as they were in the early 1900s, with people Dudley in costume to tell you about what was sold and made in those days. There is much to do and see – take a tram ride, go down a coal mine, go to school! take a canal trip into limestone caves for an additional cost, watch local craftsmen at work, view historic buildings & a vehicle collection. (Based on 2019 prices as 2020 prices have not been released at time of printing) Tues 21st Snowshill Manor, Tudor House & 10.30am 3.00pm £14 Born in the suburbs of London in 1883, Charles Wade was the son of Paget and Amy Wade – owners of several sugar estates in the Gloucs Gardens West Indies. When his father died in 1911, Charles inherited enough money to stop work and absorb himself in his passion for collecting which he used to further his collection. And while serving with the Army in the First World War, he spotted Snowshill Manor up for sale. On his return, he purchased Snowshill Manor, a Tudor manor house with adjacent cottage and 14 acres of land and set to work revamping the house and turning the farmyard into a cottage garden into an Arts and Crafts garden with the help of M H Baillie Scott. While his collection took pride of place in the main Manor, Charles set up home in the small Priest’s House opposite. This property has quite a few steps & stairs. On the Wedgwood Factory Tour, see up close the craftsmanship, artisan skills and techniques honed over 260 years. Visitors looking to make their own work of art are invited to do so in the World of Wedgwood Decorating Studio, open every day. Prices start from £10 which is an extra cost. ENTRY: Adults £5 (Assuming we have a minimum of 12 passengers) Thur 23rd London Sights, City 9.00am 4.00pm £19 A City full of history, architecture, museums, attractions and entertainment. A lifetime wouldn’t be long enough to take in everything Covent Garden London has to offer. The city’s must-see attractions include Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, London Eye. (Maybe take in a City Bus Tour?) Additionally, there are a number of museums and art galleries to visit or simply enjoy a cruise on the River Thames. Tues 28th Peak District Tour Scenic Tour 9am At Dav £19 Peak District with its beautiful scenery and picturesque small towns is always an extremely popular trip, so book early to avoid approx disappointment. We normally have around 3 stops to allow people to explore various locations. 5.30 pm Wed 29th Tutankhamun Exhibition, Attraction 8.30am 3pm £23 The legend of Tutankhamun captured imaginations globally when his tomb was unearthed by British explorer Howard Carter and Saatchi Gallery, London financier Lord Carnarvon in 1922. TUTANKHAMUN: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh will unveil more than 150 original objects from the tomb, 60 of which are travelling out of Egypt for the first and final time before they return for permanent display within the Grand Egyptian Museum which is currently under construction. Come and discover the most famous of the Pharaohs, and the young sovereign’s personal belongings as you follow his passage into everlasting life. This month Surrey brings blossom and daffodils throughout the arboretum. Enjoy the magnificent range of starry white, pink and purple magnolias as well as rhododendrons in the woodlands and a flourish of 15,000 tulips in the top terrace. ENTRY: Concessions £12.50

• Booking will be on a first-come first served basis. For trips that are fully booked we will run a reserve list and contact people on that list if seats become available through cancella tions.

• There are no age restrictions applicable to DACT Days Out, but unfortunately all seats are charged at the same rate for everyone, including. carers & children.

• Price quoted is for return travel only. Admission charges are not included, unless otherwise stated. Food, drink, etc. is excluded.

• Payment in cash should be made to the driver on the day of the trip unless stated otherwise.

• Drop offs - Before departing the venue for your return to Daventry, please discuss with your driver where you require to be dropped off i.e. Bus Station, Old Gasworks Car Park, or near to where you live if in Daventry. Please don’t assume the driver will know.

• DACT will do their best to make sure every trip operates as advertised. However, in circumstances beyond our control or minimum numbers not being met, we may have to change or cancel – we cannot run these trips at a loss to DACT. All timings are subject to travel conditions and may affect your onward journey, such as public transport to your home.

• Trip Information is from a variety of sources. We try to give a fair summary of a destination, but we cannot guarantee that all the content we use is totally accurate.

• Trolleys. We can carry shopping trolleys, but they must be booked in advance as there is only limited storage space on our buses. If you want a travel scooter for a trip you can always hire one from DACT Mobility. We do ask you to talk to the office first, to make sure we have the right type of bus available. (N.B. Some venues do provide Scooters making it unnecessary to take your own. Ask the DACT Office if you need more details)

• Accessibility: For those passengers that use wheelchairs or have mobility issues - If you have any concerns regarding accessibility, we would request that you contact the venue and talk to them directly or access their website. We can assist in providing contact numbers if necessary.

• CANCELLATIONS. Please be aware that if you cancel your booking late, you may prevent others from travelling on the trip who would otherwise have been able to go, and also if buses then get insufficient numbers, they run the risk of being cancelled, or members losing the opportunity to get group rate entry. Please only book if you definitely intend to travel. All bookings are taken on trust without a deposit and we do not want to change this procedure to avoid heavy administration. You must give at least one weeks-notice to cancel your trip, i.e. on the same day of the week one week earlier than trip date otherwise it will incur the full trip cost; (no exceptions); it is unfair to other passengers to have their trip cancelled at short notice due to late cancellations. Please pay to the DACT Office as soon as possible.
