"1070 The Fan" is a centerpiece in my District broadcasting professional and amateur sports including the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and high school football. On May 19, 2016, a complaint was filed by Woof Boom Radio Licensee LLC, alleging that Em mis Communication's 93 .5 translator interferes with their radio station, located 80 miles away in Hartford City, Indiana. On July 15th, Representative Luke Messer wrote the FCC requesting an expedient review and a determination to the complaint. It is my understanding that Representative Messer's request causes the complaint to receive expedited consideration, which I am concerned will result in a less comprehensive review than this matter deserves. I am writing to request information on the criteria used by Woof Boom to make a claim against Em mis Communications. -

2014 Accepted Research Papers (Alphabetical by Authors’ Last Name)
2014 Accepted Research Papers (Alphabetical by Authors’ Last Name) Stephen A. Banning, Bradley The Whitechapel Club: Bohemian Journalists Shun Elitism in Nineteenth Century Chicago Recent research has revealed elitism among nineteenth century journalists, and a desire to self- identify as professionals. This is important to the development of journalism in that it emphasized university education, codes of ethics and professional organizations. These factors came to fruition in the early twentieth century with university schools of journalism at Missouri and Columbia University, the formation of Sigma Delta Chi and the American Society of Newspaper Editors and their codes of ethics. Bohemian press clubs seemed to contradict this, being the antithesis of the concept of a elite expert working class. Some of these clubs existed even late into the nineteenth century. This research examined Chicago’s Whitechapel Club in relation to how and why it differed from the elite press clubs. Katie Beardsley, Temple, and Carrie Teresa, Niagara Narrative Analysis of the Central Park Jogger Story in the New York Amsterdam News On April 19, 1989, a white female jogger was attacked and raped in New York’s Central Park. Although there were no witnesses or physical evidence to tie suspects to the crime, five Black and Latino youths were eventually arrested and convicted of the time. Existing scholarship on the Central Park jogger case has suggested that the mainstream press portrayed these five teenagers as animals who preyed on an innocent white woman. This paper fills a gap in scholarship by offering a case study of the narrative of the Central Park jogger case outside the mainstream press. -
Three Years After the FCC Slapped
800.275.2840 MORE NEWS» insideradio.com THE MOST TRUSTED NEWS IN RADIO WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2015 Christmas format rode higher ratings wave in 2014. Santa spiked the holiday punch bowl with a little more ratings juice in 2014. The average Christmas station notched a 9.6 share in the 6+ demo in Nielsen’s Holiday 2014 survey, up a full share from 2013’s 8.6. The numbers reflect the 11 stations in non-embedded Day One PPM markets that went all-Christmas in 2014 and 2013. Of them, nine posted a higher 6+ share in 2014, two held steady and none declined. With the majority of PPM ratings not coming until later this week, it’s too early to know if the higher trend will hold up across all PPM markets. One likely reason for the bigger bump is that the 2014 survey, which covered December 4-31, reflected one more day of Christmas programming than in 2013. Some of the increases were dramatic, putting on ice, for now, the notion that the seasonal format has peaked. Holiday ratings for iHeartMedia AC “93.9 My FM” WLIT, Chicago were 24% higher than in 2013 (11.6-14.2). What’s more, the station nearly doubled its December share. WLIT wasn’t alone in posting double-digit, year-over-year holiday ratings gains: CBS Radio’s classic hits KLUV, Dallas (98.7) padded its share by 22% (7.2-8.8) while Entercom AC KOIT, San Francisco (96.5) grew 8.9-10.6, a 19% gain over 2013. -

July 23, 2018 For Immediate Release Raiders Announce Television and Radio Broadcast Teams ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders will introduce revamped broadcast lineups for the team’s 2018 television and radio broadcasts. Brent Musburger, one of the most prominent voices and personalities in sports broadcasting, joins the radio team as the Silver and Black’s new play-by-play voice for 2018. Musburger will be joined on the call for all Raiders games this season by former All-Pro tackle Lincoln Kennedy, who moves to the booth to handle color analyst duties, and Chris Townsend, who will report from the sidelines. Rich Gannon will join the television booth for the team’s four preseason games, linking up with play-by- play voice Beth Mowins and former Raider and veteran color commentator Matt Millen, both of whom return for their fourth season broadcasting the Silver and Black’s preseason slate. JT the Brick also returns to handle host and sideline reporter duties for the preseason broadcasts. “I’m looking forward to chronicling the biggest stories in the NFL, including the return of Jon Gruden to the Raiders’ sideline,” said Musburger. “Who knew you could have so much fun at my age?” “I am really looking forward to returning to Oakland to join my friends Beth Mowins and Matt Millen in the broadcast booth as we call Raider preseason games,” said Gannon. “It is both an honor and a privilege to join Beth and Matt and be associated with one of the finest organizations in all of professional sports. I am also looking forward to Coach Gruden’s return to the sidelines and the passion, energy, and professionalism which he’ll bring to all of Raider Nation!” “It is a pleasure and an honor to work alongside a legend like Brent Musburger,” said Kennedy.
