Local Improvement Scheme 2018-21: Capital Projects Capital 2018-19 Organisation Name Award Project Summary District 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron ATC £7,500 This project aims to provide greater access, by any young people who choose to Rushcliffe join Air Cadets, to a wide range of free training, experience and opportunity through the acquisition of a 17-seat minibus. Ashland Rovers Football Club £20,000 The project will provide an improved community football facility, including sports Ashfield fencing creating a designated grass football pitch area, installing a hard-standing area for spectators, a spectator rail, improved access and dug outs for use by the home and away football teams. Attenborough Garden Club £1,500 In 2018, the second of our village all year-round community gardens and wildlife Broxtowe areas will be created at our historic station on platform 2. A community day in August 2018 will get the community involved in planting on-platform planters including perennials and evergreens for all the year round. Awsworth Bowls Club £15,000 The project is to build a new pavilion for the bowls club on The Lane Recreation Broxtowe Ground. Barnby Moor Parish Council £7,110 This project aims to enhance entry into the village from all aspects. Bassetlaw Beckingham Cum Saundby Village Hall £15,000 This project aims to provide much needed improvements for the community to Bassetlaw Committee access the Village Hall and amenities by resurfacing the car park, which will minimise the risk of trips and falls, develop and support volunteering, strengthen links and improve independence. Bestwood Village Parish Council £9,585 This project aims to install an inclusive outdoor gym and zip wire. This will provide Gedling greater opportunity to improve health through physical activity, available to all residents in Bestwood Village. The facility will encourage improved community cohesion and reduced anti-social behaviour by giving young people in the village a focus. Bilsthorpe Parish Council £30,000 This project aims to provide play area equipment that will enhance the two existing Newark and play areas in the village. The project is specifically aimed at supporting small Sherwood children in their play, social interactions and wellbeing. Local Improvement Scheme: Capital 2018-19 1 of 29 Organisation Name Award Project Summary District Bleasby Aircrews Memorial Project £2,000 This project aims to construct a permanent and accessible paved foundation for the Newark and Team new Bleasby Aircrews Memorial for the 40 names, and other unkown, RAF aircrew Sherwood men who were killed in flying incidents that happened very close to Bleasby during WWII. The men who were killed in these aircraft crashes came from the UK, Poland, Canada, Australia, Eire and New Xealand, and most were based at RAF Syerston, Nottinghamshire. Research findings have been published on the Aircrews Remembered website, which can be searched globally. The bodies of most of the overseas airmen who died in these incidents are buried at Newark Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery. Blidworth Parish Council £35,000 This project aims to provide a refurbished area in which the local community can Newark and come together to use the play facilities. It will be an all-inclusive area and will have Sherwood play equipment suitable for a range of abilities and needs. Brinsley Parish Council £5,000 This project aims to provide an inspired and updated gateway feature entrance to Broxtowe this unique village within Nottinghamshire, which proudly retains its historical association with D.H. Lawrence Landscape, mining history and a history dating back to the Domesday Book (Brunneslea). New signage providing a welcoming entrance to the village for its parishioners, people travelling through and visitors will add a much sought after feature to the roadside and would be enhanced with seasonal floral barriers. Carlton-on-Trent Parish Council £3,000 This project aims to keep residents of Carlton and surrounding villages appraised of Newark and the Parish Council’s activities and achievements, and inform them about local Sherwood schemes, events and consultations which may benefit or affect them. CAST Angling Projects £2,460 This project aims to complete wheelchair accessible fishing platforms and lay low Rushcliffe level sleeper bank retentions to support the development of a community fishery at Newstead which also has specialist design for people with disabilities, wheelchair users and educational uses, with 30 accessible platforms accommodating 60 anglers. It will create an exemplar / premier East Midlands fully accessible fishery. Caunton Parish Council £3,810 This project aims to raise drivers’ awareness that they are entering a residential Newark and area, enhance the village appearance and promote community pride in the Sherwood environment. Local Improvement Scheme: Capital 2018-19 2 of 29 Organisation Name Award Project Summary District Chilwell Manor Golf Club £15,000 The practice area development would provide new and current golfers with a quality Broxtowe facility to participate in golf activity all year round. The project will enable more people to experience the sport at a very friendly club, through both structured and independent practice sessions; thereby helping to retain newer golfers. Clipstone Parish Council £2,695 This project aims to: Newark and • Improve the flow of information and ultimately communication between Clipstone Sherwood Parish Council and the residents. • Encourage public engagement. • Instil civic pride. • Improve CPC image. • Provide quality product to last many years. • Attract volunteers. • Encourage community engagement and democratic involvement. Collingham Tennis Club £24,636 This project aims to construct a new, fit for purpose, fully accessible clubhouse Newark and overlooking our courts, for socialising, spectating, sheltering, first aid, toilet, Sherwood refreshments, which will be suitable for an expanding village club playing all year. Our aim is to broaden tennis’ appeal by embracing families, older people, wheelchair users and those with other disabilities. Cromwell Village Hall £1,123 This project aims to increase the flexibility and possible uses of Cromwell Village Newark and Hall, giving choices of table sizes for different functions. We already have seven Sherwood large contour plus folding tables and the new purchase tables will complement these and will mix and match with them to facilitate many different types of events. Edwinstowe Parish Council £12,000 This project aims to create a lasting memorial garden in memory of those who died Newark and during the course of their work at Nottinghamshire's last colliery - keeping the Sherwood cultural heritage of the village alive and to provide historical information about the life of Thoresby Colliery and its impact on the village. Epperstone Parish Council £3,000 This project aims to improve the entrances to Epperstone village, enhance the Newark and approach and make it a more attractive entry. Sherwood Local Improvement Scheme: Capital 2018-19 3 of 29 Organisation Name Award Project Summary District Farndon Parish Council £5,330 This project aims to resolve the incongruous situation of a lack of Farndon Gateway Newark and signs befitting Farndon’s standing as one of the most visited villages in Sherwood Nottinghamshire and to comply with the wishes of the providers of the Farndon Marina facility whilst benefitting the riverside restaurants and other organizations and service providers such as the Sea Scouts, Wildlife Trust and St Johns Crusader Boat river tours for the disabled. Feel Good Gardens CIC £17,100 Feel Good Gardens’ large community garden at Forestry Holdings, near Clipstone Newark and and Sherwood Pines in North Nottinghamshire, supports health, wellbeing and Sherwood social inclusion by offering social gardening sessions, or ‘work parties’. Fiskerton-cum-Morton Parish Council £1,600 This project aims to provide 2 new village signs for Fiskerton (one of 2 villages Newark and making up Fiskerton-cum-Morton Parish Council) which will give villagers a sense Sherwood of belonging to a specific community, thus giving them a sense of pride in their village, encouraging social cohesion and getting to know their neighbours. This will make it a better place to live. Friends of Cotgrave Country Park £13,672 This project aims to provide visitors with direction signs to the park. Within the park Rushcliffe itself, directional signposts and information boards with points of interest will help people find their way around the park’s routes. Signs to be placed at strategic junctions on access roads and within the park. Friends of Sutton Lawn Park £28,000 This project aims to provide new teenage and junior play equipment at the Sutton Ashfield Lawn pleasure grounds, to provide an exciting and safe play area for local children and families. The project will expand the play provision at the site specifically targeting improvements for juniors, young teenagers and young people with limited or no weight bearing ability. The project will offer local residents opportunities for physical activity and community interaction at a vibrant public open space. Greasley Parish Council £50,000 We operate a "not for profit" Sports & Community Centre with one of our primary Broxtowe objectives being to contribute to the health and well-being of our residents as economically as possible. We are applying for funding to refurbish our toilets, showers and changing facilities in order to improve the attractiveness of our offer. Harworth and Bircotes Town Council £30,000 This project will improve and revitalise the public ‘town park’ (Snipe Park) in Bassetlaw Harworth and Bircotes with improved physical activity facilities and the upgrading of the linkages to the park. Local Improvement Scheme: Capital 2018-19 4 of 29 Organisation Name Award Project Summary District Keyworth and District Tennis Club £11,442 This project aims to resurface 2 tennis courts at Keyworth Tennis Club, enabling Rushcliffe tennis to continue to be played long term by all court users. Kimberley Town Council £13,935 Grade II listed War Memorial needs underpinning of columns and restoration from Broxtowe weather conditions.
