Saturday, 28 May 16. Sail from Annapolis, MD the Chesapeake Bay to Trippe Creek, vicinity of . Raft up Saturday night (see Navigation below). Distance from Annapolis (direct route past Thomas Point to Choptank River, , then Trippe Creek and raft up location) is approximately 33 nm

Sunday, 29 May 16. Exit Trippe Creek, Tred Avon River, then Choptank River to Campbell’s Boatyard LLC, Bachelor’s Point Marina (Oxford, MD). Dinner will be held at “The Masthead at Pier Street Marina” restaurant in Oxford, MD; cocktails from 5pm, and dinner from 6 to 8pm.

Coordinating Instructions for Raft­Up (See PSC Raft­Up Guidelines) General Considerations: The largest boat should be the anchor boat, given the logic that the boat’s ground tackle is appropriately sized for the purpose. Skipper of the anchor boat ordinarily is the “raft captain” and will make decisions as necessary for safe operation given depth, tides, current, swing radius, scope of road, existing and forecasted winds, and adequacy and placement of fenders and lines.

 Unless directed otherwise by the raft captain, approach the raft from stern of those already anchored;  Alternate sides when rafting to maintain balance on anchors;  Prepare lines and place fenders prior to approaching the raft; traditionally, the vessel approaching the raft will deploy its own lines and fenders—this makes for a more organized breakup when departing;  Boats and boat captains should prepare by: o Evaluating factors to determine anchor(s) to set for the raft. o Coordinating with skipper of receiving boat o Briefing and positioning crew to pass lines/fend off (looped end of lines are passed to the raft); o Receiving vessel positions crew to receive lines; o Bow lines; o Stern lines; o Forward spring line; o Aft spring line; o Minimum of two 4­6 inch fenders; o A long­passing (control) line if the approaching boat is also to set an anchor  When positioning alongside, secure lines ensuring boat spreaders are not aligned to avoid collisions

Customs and Courtesies As a part of the etiquette during raft­ups, please consider the following:

 Cockpit should not be used as a highway between boats. Rather use the foredeck of the mast as much as possible as a matter of respecting privacy;  Unless invited below, the salon should be considered private.  Upon crews retiring for the night, those remaining above should minimize noise.

Communications MDRU participants may conduct commo checks among MDRU boats beginning at 2:15 pm (1415 hours), and every hour thereafter at fifteen (15) minutes past the hour until all PSC boats have arrived at our raft­up. During this period PSC boats should monitor and call on VHF channel 9 (the secondary hailing channel). Upon making contact, please switch to VHF channel 71 to talk. If VHF channel 71 is busy, our alternate working channel will be 72, otherwise any free working channel. When you arrive at the raft­up area, call the “PSC Raft Captain” on VHF channel 71.

The Masthead Restaurant is located at Pier Street Marina, 104 W Pier St, Oxford, MD 21654. To call for shuttle service from the marina to “The Masthead” restaurant, call the marina (Wendy Palmer at 410­226­5171). Boat with a dingy may also move from Bachelor’s Point Marina to a marina adjacent to The Masthead by dingy, however, coordination with The Masthead is necessary to ensure slip space. Once the PSC boat with Raft Up skipper docks at the marina, an alternative means to contact the shuttle is to call on VHF channel 68 using call sign “SWEET CAROLINE.” A shuttle will operate at 1630 and 1700 from the Bachelor’s Point Marina to The Masthead restaurant. Shuttle to return from the Masthead to Bachelor’s Point Marina will be coordinated at the dinner at 9PM/2100 hrs. The last shuttle will depart the restaurant at 10pm/2200 hours.

Saturday: Raft­Up PSC Raft Captain is ______. Call Raft Captain on VHF channel 71 when entering the raft for instructions. See the PSC rafting policy. Theme is “STORM FRONT COMING” and each boat should provide heavy appetizers and/or beverage tastes to fit the theme. The party starts when the raft is secured.

Sunday: Marina and Restaurant Arriving at Campbell’s Boatyard LLC, Bachelor’s Point Marina (Oxford, MD) Contact the marina by VHF radio on Channel 16; prepare to shift to the directed working channel (See Communications instructions above). Identify your boat as part of the Pentagon Sailing Club group. Upon arrival, each PSC boat skipper will check their boat in at the marina office/ship’s store and pay their slip fees (Cost: $2.00/foot per night plus $5.00 electric. Three 40'slips and three 60 ft slips have been reserved). PSC Dinner The MDRU dinner will be at “The Masthead Restaurant” for raft up participants (approximately 1 mile from Bachelor’s Point Marina), and for guests arriving by ground transportation. The dinner meal will be $35.00 per person, plus 20 percent gratuity and 6 percent sales tax. There will be a cash bar.

MDRU participants may walk to The Masthead restaurant at Pier Street Marina, 104 W Pier St, Oxford, MD 21654 (approximately 1 mile from the marina), or call the restaurant to request a ride. To request pickup from the Campbell’s Boatyard LLC, Bachelor’s Point Marina prior to the PSC Club Boat arrival, call The Masthead at 410­ 226­5171 and ask for Ms. Wendy Palmer. Upon the PSC Club boat arriving, Shuttle service to the masthead restaurant will be available at 4:30 and 5:00 PM. Return service will be coordinated at the restaurant starting at 9:00pm. Last shuttle will depart the restaurant at 10pm/2200 hrs. Sign up for dinner via the PSC website NLT 18 May. PSC is required to have a headcount and contract signed by this time. Drinks will be available from 1700/5PM; dinner will begin at 1800/6PM. A children’s menu is also available and orders from this menu may be made at time of the dinner.
