MARLINS SET TO HOST METS, PADRES AND BRAVES Super Saturday Concert with Johnny Ventura to Highlight Ten-game Homestand

MIAMI –The Marlins are back home and set to host the , and Atlanta Braves in a ten-game homestand (August 25 – September 3) at Land Shark Stadium. The series will feature fan giveaways, including: Marlins Spoon Mugs (Aug. 26) Josh Johnson autographed framed photo as part of Billy Bingo (Aug. 28), Marlins Latin Cow Bells (Aug. 29), and Marlins Mermaids 2009-10 Calendars (Aug. 30).

The homestand will also feature several special events, including: The 3rd Annual Fish N‟ Chips Casino Night (Aug. 27), Ladies Nite Out, Fiesta Latina, and Dominando con los Marlins (Aug. 28), Super Saturday Concert with Johnny Ventura and a Fireworks Spectacular (Aug. 29), and Family Sunday (Aug. 30).

The three game series against the New York Mets begins on Tuesday, August 25 at 7:10 p.m and features The Miami Herald Two for Tuesday ticket offer (Aug. 25) as well as the Cody‟s Crew group special and the Wednesday Marlins E- saver (Aug. 26).

The homestand continues on Friday, August 28 against the San Diego Padres. Every Friday is Fish Friday and fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the Fiesta Latina, Dominando con los Marlins, and Ladies Nite Out. Also, fans are invited back to the Strike Zone after the game for the 10th Inning Party featuring a DJ, the Mermaids, the Manatees and the Maniacs. Also, fans can play Billy Bingo; the first 10,000 fans through the gates get a Billy Bingo card and 100 lucky winners will receive an authentic Josh Johnson autographed framed photo.

On Super Saturday, August 29, the first 15,000 fans can get a Marlins Latin Cow Bell, plus two lucky fans will receive up to $2,500 toward their mortgage or rent payment with the Marlins Mortgage payout (fans must pre-register at www.marlins.com). Also, as part of the Super Saturday Concert Series, fans will enjoy a Fireworks Spectacular followed by a live concert with merengue legend Johnny Ventura.

During Marlins Family Sunday on August 30th, fans are invited to join the pregame activities at the Strike Zone with music and entertainment from Radio Disney. Fans can also get a picture taken with a Marlins player, the Mermaids and Billy as part of Snapshot Sunday. The fist 5,000 kids get a Marlins Mermaids 2009-10 Calendar and U.S. military personnel can take advantage of the “Stars and Stripes” complimentary ticket program. After the game, youngsters can run the bases in the Diamond Dash after the game. Children with Billy‟s Bunch membership cards are allowed to enter the VIP Fast Lane at Diamond Dash.

Starting on Monday, August 31, the Marlins will take on the Atlanta Braves for a four-game series to conclude the homestand. The games will feature the Marlins “Go Green, Get Green” program and Marlins Workforce Monday (Aug. 31), The Miami Herald Two for Tuesday ticket offer (Sept. 1), the Cody‟s Crew group special, the Marlins E-saver and the Marlins $7.90 Infield Box Ticket Promotion (Sept. 2). All four games are set to start at 7:10 p.m.

recreational or travel and softball. The recipients are awarded based upon their academic achievement, conduct and sportsmanship.

The Florida Marlins Community Foundation hosts a key fundraiser every Friday night during Marlins home games at the Community Corner, section 149. SOLDIER OF THE MONTH: Florida Marlins will honor Sergeant Mauricio Proaño with a special plaque for his outstanding efforts serving our country. Proaño will be accompanied by a Marlins player behind home plate as he is recognized. Proaño is currently assigned to Miami Recruiting Battalion serving as a U.S. Army Recruiter. He deployed to Iraq from January 2004 to March 2005 with the 91st Engineer Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt. Proano conducted patrols while performing over 150 combat missions in Baghdad. He deployed to Iraq a second time from October 2006 to February with the 1st Cavalry Division where he conducted more than 180 combat missions. Sgt. Proano received the Combat Action Badge; Combat Spurs ( Gold and Silver ); the Army Commendation Medal and the Iraqi Campaign Medal (ICM) for his service in Iraq.

US ARMY SWEAR-IN CEREMONY: 200 Recruits will be on the field prior to the game to be sworn in. They will enter the field through Gate F and be on the field for 2-5 minutes.

The 11th Super Saturday post-game concert of the year is presented by Dominican Republic Tourism. Johnny Ventura is a Dominican merengue composer and singer, the first to achieve widespread fame outside of the Dominican Republic. Ventura and his orchestra, the "Combo Show", added rock and roll elements to the genre in the early 1960s, influenced by the early stars of American rock (including Elvis Presley). His hits include "Patacón pisao," "Pitaste," "El elevador," "La agarradera,” "Capullo y Sorrullo," "Merenguero Hasta la Tambora" and "El tabaco," and has recorded over 100 albums. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be relocated to the Gate C plaza.

MARLINS STARS AND STRIPES PROGRAM: For the seventh consecutive season, the Marlins are offering the "Stars and Stripes" ticket program for United States Military staff including: Active and Reserve personnel, National Guard, and their dependents, to attend Sunday Marlins regular season games at no cost. To receive complimentary tickets, eligible military personnel, or dependents, must present their military identification card (DOD or Homeland Security Cards) at the Gate F box office at Land Shark Stadium, on the day of the game, at least one hour prior to the start of the regular season game. This program is good for Bullpen Box tickets for all 13 Sunday regular season Marlins home games.

SNAPSHOT SUNDAY: The first 100 fans in line at Snapshot Sunday will be able to have their photograph taken with a Marlins player. Fans are reminded to bring their own camera. Snapshot Sunday is located at Strike Zone at Gate H and begins at 12:00 p.m. Billy The Marlin and the Marlins Mermaids will also be on hand for photographs at various times.

UMPS CARE: Founded by Major League Baseball umpires in 2006, BLUE for Kids/UMPS CARE enriches the lives of at-risk youth and children coping with serious illness by providing memorable sports experiences, supporting pediatric medical care, and raising the awareness of foster care children. Prior to the game, an MLB Umpire will spend time with kids from CHARLEE and provide them with tickets, a hat and refreshments.

BASEBALL BUDDIES: Every Sunday throughout the season local little league teams (dressed in full uniform) will have the opportunity to take the field for the National Anthem. This week‟s buddies are from TBD.

FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP CEREMONY: The Florida Marlins Community Foundation will host the winners of the Scholarship Program and their families along with the FSL General Managers at the game on August 30, 2009. There will be a pre-game ceremony introducing this year‟s scholarship recipients. Nancy Olson, Executive Director of the Florida Marlins Community Foundation, will present Chuck Murphy, President of the Florida State League a check for $12,000 to help fund twelve $1,500 scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year. The Florida Marlins Community Foundation has donated $83,000 over the last ten seasons to this program. The Florida Marlins Community Foundation raises funds for these scholarships during where they conduct raffles, silent auctions, a clinic for children and a party for fans.

50/50 RAFFLE: The Florida Marlins Community Foundation will host a 50-50 Raffle every Sunday during the 2009 season. Raffle tickets are available for the following donations: 1 for $3, 2 for $5, 5 for $10 or 20 for $15. The raffle is held from the time the gates open until the end of the third inning. One lucky winner will receive one-half of the money collected from the raffle that day. The other half will be used for the Cornerstones for Kids programs. Roberto Clemente Day: The Florida Marlins nominee for the 2009 Roberto Clemente Award, presented by Chevrolet, will be announced prior to the game. As the Club‟s recipient, he will be eligible for the 2009 Roberto Clemente Award, which is given annually to the Major League Baseball player who combines outstanding skills on the baseball field with

devoted work in the community. The Roberto Clemente Award presented by Chevrolet, recognizes those players who best exemplify the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions to their teams. The award is named for Clemente, a 12-time All-Star and Hall of Famer who was killed on New Year‟s Eve 1972 while attempting to deliver supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. This award perpetuates Clemente‟s memory and character by recognizing current-day players who truly understand the value of helping others.

Also, one child a game can accompany Billy the Marlin on the field during the 7th inning stretch to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

COMMUNITY CORNER: The Community Corner consists of two kiosks at section 149 and serves as the headquarters for the Florida Marlins community programs. The Florida Marlins Community Foundation will staff their kiosk every game from the time the gates open until the last out of the third inning. Auctions, raffles, and Marlins official Game Programs, Score Cards, Year Books and Media Guides are available. CELEBRATION CLUB: The Florida Marlins Community Foundation allows fans to display a message on Marlins Vision. Fans taking advantage of this program will also receive a photograph of the message. The cost is $50.00 per message, with all proceeds benefiting the Florida Marlins Community Foundation.
