22 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 27, 2012 BOULEVARD CASINO PRESENTS ZIGGY MARLEY WILD AND FREE TOUR LIVE AT THE RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE FRIDAY, JULY 20 Coquitlam, BC – Five-time Grammy-winning musician Ziggy Marley has established his presence on the public stage for over a quarter-century. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Ziggy and his siblings first sat in on recording sessions with his father’s band, the legendary Bob Marley and the Wailers when he was just ten years old. Later Ziggy joined with his sisters Sharon and Cedella and brother Stephen to become Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers allowing him to craft his own soulful sound which blends blues, R&B, hip-hop and roots reggae. In 1998, the group earned their first Grammy in the category of “Best Reggae Recording” for their third album, Conscious Party which featured the hit singles, “Tomorrow People” and “Tumblin’ Down”. While selling millions of records and selling out numerous concerts, the group never lost sight of their foundations in faith, fellowship and family. Ziggy’s first solo tour took place in 2002 followed the next year with the release of his debut solo album, Dragonfly. In 2006, he released Love Is My Religion … a Grammy winner that further explored personal, social and political themes amid a fragrant mix of roots reggae, traditional rock ‘n’ roll, African percussion and other varied musical elements. He won his fifth Grammy Award in the category of “Best Musical Album for Children” for Family Time … a 2009 collection of reggae-inflected, family-oriented songs. His most recent album, Wild and Free was released last year and features the single, “Forward to Love” along with appearances by Woody Harrelson on the title track, Heavy D on “It” and Ziggy’s eldest son Daniel on “Changes”. Involved with a breadth of charities, Ziggy leads his own … U.R.G.E. (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment), a non-profit organization that benefits efforts in Jamaica, Ethiopia and other developing nations. Ziggy Marley will be performing for one night only at Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre on July 20, 2012. Biography A five-time Grammy-winning musician, actor, artist, activist and humanitarian, Ziggy Marley has established his presence on the public stage for over a quarter-century. His newest release, Ziggy Marley In Concert, is a collection of live recordings from his 2012 Wild and Free World Tour. The album, which will release digitally on iTunes December 18th before its worldwide physical release on January 15th of 2013, continues to convey Marley’s overall message of love, freedom, hope and challenge. The album features live tracks from his Grammy-nominated and critically acclaimed 2011 release Wild and Free, including the funky and fun-loving “Forward To Love,” the upbeat groove-driven “Reggae in My Head,” and the rock-fueled reggae anthem “Wild and Free.” Live versions of the Bob Marley classics “War” and “Is This Love” also appear on the album as well as Ziggy’s hits “Tomorrow People” and “True To Myself.” In recent years, Marley has been involved in a slew of projects including an extensive world tour that spanned most of 2011 and 2012. Among those dates was a group of themed tribute shows, “Tuff Gong Worldwide and Ziggy Marley Salute the Legends of Reggae,” which played at various Southern California venues in 2012, including a sell-out show at the Hollywood Bowl. Additional projects include serving as executive producer of the celebrated documentary MARLEY(Shangri-La Entertainment), hosting his own monthly radio show, Legends of Reggae, on SiriusXM’s The Joint, and launching a GMO-free food line called Ziggy Marley Organics. MEDIABASE YEAR-END EDITION 2006 MEDIABASE OVERALL LABEL SHARE 2006 ISLAND DEF JAM TOP LABEL IN 2006 Atlantic, Interscope, Zomba, and RCA Round Out The Top Five Island Def Jam Music Group is this year’s #1 label, according to Mediabase’s annual year-end airplay recap. Led by such acts as Nickelback, Ludacris, Ne-Yo, and Rihanna, IDJMG topped all labels with a 14.1% share of the total airplay pie. Island Def Jam is the #1 label at Top 40 and Hot AC, coming in second at Rhythmic, Urban, Urban AC, Mainstream Rock, and Active Rock, and ranking at #3 at Alternative. Atlantic was second with a 12.0% share. Atlantic had huge hits from the likes of James Blunt, Sean Paul, Yung Joc, Cassie, and Rob Thomas -- who all scored huge airplay at multiple formats. Atlantic ranks #1 at Rhythmic and Urban, second at Top 40 and AC, and third at Hot AC and Mainstream Rock. Atlantic did all of this separately from sister label Lava, who actually broke the top 15 labels thanks to Gnarls Barkley and Buckcherry. Always powerful Interscope was third with 8.4%.
