Organizations can use mass media outlets to change social conditions and encourage political and social intervention. When working with the media, advocates should ‘shape’ their story to incorporate social themes rather than solely focusing on individual accountability. “Develop a story that personalizes the injustice and then provide a clear picture of who is benefiting from the condition.” (Wallack et al., 1999) Merely stating that there is a problem provides no ‘call to action’ for the public. Therefore, advocates should identify a specific solution that would allow communities to take control of the issue. Sexual violence is a public health concern of social injustices. Effective Media Campaigns Local, regional or statewide campaigns can provide a forum for prevention, outreach and raising awareness to create social change. This toolkit will enhance advocates’ abilities to utilize the media for campaigns and other events. Campaigns can include: public service announcements (PSAs), awareness events (Take Back the Night; The Clothesline Project), media interviews, coordinated events at area schools or college campuses, position papers, etc. -

Music Preferences: A Gateway to Where? Contact: [email protected], [email protected] 1 Abstract This paper discusses the impact of peer pressure on shared music preferences which was conducted through a survey and group interviews. The information on the development of music preferences provides the reader with background on how the music preference process begins. Peer pressure is also discussed from early childhood into adulthood. The solidification of music preferences happens around the same age as college-aged individuals, which overlaps with a decrease in the impact of peer pressure. The research focuses on college-aged individuals who completed a survey on their music preferences in individual and group settings, and then were put into groups to determine if a social setting would influence their responses to the same questions. Overall, a distinct relationship between peer pressure and music preference could not be made. Music is usually a part of daily life, whether people are aware of it or not. Studies have been done to try and determine why people are attracted to music, and they have created multiple theories trying to answer this question. -

On May 19, 2016, a complaint was filed by Woof Boom Radio Licensee LLC, alleging that Em mis Communication's 93 .5 translator interferes with their radio station, located 80 miles away in Hartford City, Indiana. On July 15th, Representative Luke Messer wrote the FCC requesting an expedient review and a determination to the complaint. It is my understanding that Representative Messer's request causes the complaint to receive expedited consideration, which I am concerned will result in a less comprehensive review than this matter deserves. I am writing to request information on the criteria used by Woof Boom to make a claim against Em mis Communications. -

July 23, 2018 For Immediate Release Raiders Announce Television and Radio Broadcast Teams ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders will introduce revamped broadcast lineups for the team’s 2018 television and radio broadcasts. Brent Musburger, one of the most prominent voices and personalities in sports broadcasting, joins the radio team as the Silver and Black’s new play-by-play voice for 2018. Musburger will be joined on the call for all Raiders games this season by former All-Pro tackle Lincoln Kennedy, who moves to the booth to handle color analyst duties, and Chris Townsend, who will report from the sidelines. Rich Gannon will join the television booth for the team’s four preseason games, linking up with play-by- play voice Beth Mowins and former Raider and veteran color commentator Matt Millen, both of whom return for their fourth season broadcasting the Silver and Black’s preseason slate.
