SKANDIUM – SALES EXHIBITION - FEBRUARY 4TH – 14TH

Skandium is a British company, founded in 1999 by three Scandinavians, well known for their selection of Scandinavian interior and objects. , and were well represented in their assortment, but it was not a lot of objects that was designed and produced in Norway. One of the reasons for this was that they found it challenging to find the time to cooperate with several different small Norwegian manufacturers.

In celebration of the importance of Norway’s contribution to Scandinavian design heritage in the global design market, Norwegian Icons in partnership with Skandium, showcased important interior objects designed and produced in Norway. Norwegian Icons designed and styled the first floor with wooden plints with curated Norwegian design from manufactures such as Fjordfiesta, Utopia, Slåke, Mandal Veveri, Trefjøla and Magnor as well as limited design objects from Hege & Hallgeir Homstvedt, Ingrid Aspen, Kristine Bjaadal and Fimbul Design Studio.

SENTRALEN - FEBRUARY 23TH

Right in the heart of Oslo, the building that used to be home to the oldest savings bank in Norway, lies Sentralen that has now been converted into a unique building with six fantastic venues for cultural ex- periences. Sentralen is also the workplace for over 350 creative people producing a range of cultural expressions and working to find new solutions to social challenges.

Bendt Winges R45 and R48 was seen in almost every community house around in Norway and is therefore today known as the “community chair”. The chair was known for its quality and comfort. Norwegian Icons wanted to shed new light on the chair and place it back in its right environment. In collaboration with the architect, we custom made the colors, used Nor- wegian quality textile from Gudbrandsdalen Ullva- refabrikk and leather from the south of Norway. We delivered three different designs of the chair from the R-series, in total 2225 chairs.

In late November we delivered an addition of 100 more R-45/R-48 chairs for Sentralen.

VINGEN BAR - FEBRUARY 25TH

Vingen Bar offers high quality coffee and lunch during daytime, cocktails and food bar in the evening. Open seven days a week, Vingen is set in a wonderful position at the outermost point where the city stretches into the Fjord and is located – at the Astrup Fearnley Museum.

Norwegian Icons idea was to reflect some of the contemporary art in the design and use contemporary Norwegian design and materials that reflect the nature outside.

Norwegian Icons produced the interior concept with a goal to create a place that combines the simplistic and clean Norwegian design with typical Norwegian materials to generate a clean, yet warm atmosphere. Vingen is furnished solely with Norwegian design objects, some classical pieces and some from new talents in the design scene.

OSLO ARCHITECTURE TRIENNIAL - SEPTEMBER 8TH - 9TH

Oslo Architecture Triennale (OAT) is the Nordic region’s biggest architecture festival and one of the world’s most important arenas for dissemination and discussion of architectural and urban challenges.

Norwegian Icons did the interior design setting for Oslo Architecture Triennial (OAT) opening event, as well furnishing the stage for the conference at the Opera house. A carefully selected range of furniture made the backdrop of the opening event and the discussion to create the Norwegian atmosphere on the events. Over 2000 people from the whole world attended the two events.

This Conference brought together architects, thinkers, decision-makers, and local experts in order to dissect the architectures entangled in the contemporary reconfiguration of belonging. For Norwegian Icons it was important to place Norwegian design as complementary aspects of what is going on in the architectural scene in Norway at the moment.
