April 2019 Appointed Head Coach of the Czech Rugby Unions 7s Program (Dukla) and Assistant Coach of the Czech Mens team. Summary Phil has developed a wealth of coaching experience that first started with school teams, ACT Brumbies juniors, Academy teams through to First Grade in the John Dent Cup, and in the Shute Shield with the famous Randwick club. He even learned how to successfully coach in another language with CA Perigeuex in France with great success. He has great passion and enthusiasm for the game, and builds winning cultures wherever he coaches. He is strong on communication with his players at all levels (including Super Rugby and World Cup players), and brings out the best in their playing ability. In France he gained a reputation as a technical coach and an astute thinker of the game, with his team CA Perigeuex playing smart and intelligent, open attacking rugby complimented by a miserly defence. He is deploying his wide skillset with RC Tatra Smichov, the top club in the Czech Republic, and with the Czech national teams as Head Coach of the Czech 7s program and Backs Coach of the Czech Mens Team. He has built a solid reputation as a coach by learning and working with some of the world’s best coaches from both hemispheres including Super Rugby and World Cup winners. Phil has a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and has used his knowledge in this area to enhance his coaching. He recently lectured in this area at the Australian Catholic University. Phil was inducted to the Western Australian Sporting Hall of Fame in 2017.
