Ögg Höfe

CULTURE IN THE VALLEY

Breathe deep and turn back the hands of time Traditional Rauchkuchl “smoke” kitchens, family altars and barrel-shaped ovens – Within the historic walls of the Ögg Höfe farms, the centuries have left their mark. For generations, the people here tended the meadow according to traditional ways and lived from the land. In 1980, when the last occupant moved to the valley, Ögg became silent. Now, however, the Ögg Höfe association of historic monuments wants to pre- serve this special place. The federal monument authority has decided to protect the nearly 600-year-old ensemble. Since 2016 Mr. Praxmarer is carefully renovating the Ögg Höfe. Support the conservation of this important cultural heritage in Kaunertal.
