The construction of the pipeline is part of a $500 million investment strategy to secure Broken Hill’s water supplies – representing the largest investment into regional water security on record.

Pipeline – key facts • The pipeline is some 270 kilometres long and will bring water to Broken Hill from the Murray River, near Wentworth. • Construction of the pipeline is expected to be complete by the end of 2018. • During construction up to 240 jobs will be created, with the majority located in either Broken Hill or Wentworth. • This project helps NSW meet its targets under the Murray Darling Basin Plan – reducing our need to take further productive water to meet recovery targets and helps our northern and southern irrigation industries. • The project is part of the NSW Government’s Regional Water Strategies and a new strategic approach to future-proof our water supplies and support regional development.
