•• ToTo setset MaxiMaxi (Parking)(Parking) BrakeBrake –– pullpull outout knob.knob.

3 StartStart EngineEngine // MotorMotor

•• To start , switch ignition from “OFF” to “ON”.

•• The dashboard gauges should rise then zero out and then reset.

•• Push / engage both starter buttons at the same time until the engine starts, then release.

4 RoadRoad TransmissionTransmission -- NeutralNeutral

•• Ensure the Road is in neutral “N” over “N”.

•• Note – The upper letter is what the driver has selected and the lower letter is what gear the transmission is actually in.

5 EngagingEngaging thethe PumpPump TransmissionTransmission

•• Unlock (by squeezing) and slide the shift from the “upper – ROAD” position down to the “middle” position.

•• To avoid any grinding, pause in the “middle” position for 4 to 5 seconds.

•• There should be a slight air release sound during the shifting, but it should stop upon completion.

6 EngagingEngaging thethe PumpPump TransmissionTransmission

• After pausing, continue to shift the pump power shift lever downward and into “PUMP”.

• There should be a slight air release sound during the shifting, but it should stop upon completion.

• Next, check the “Pump Engaged Light” to make sure it is “ON”.

• When this is completed, the Pump Transmission has shifted from “ROAD” to “PUMP” and the rear differential has been disengaged and the main fire pump engaged. 7 EngageEngage RoadRoad TransmissionTransmission

•• To engage the Road Transmission and start the main fire pump spinning select “D” (Drive) on the selector pad. •• The Road Transmission indicator should display “4” over “4”. •• If “4” over “4” is not displayed, then return to neutral “N” and attempt again.

• Emergency Override Procedures will be covered in another program. 8 SpeedometerSpeedometer IndicatorIndicator

•• Once the Pump Transmission and the Road Transmission have been properly aligned, the speedometer should display a speed around 20 MPH at idle and the should not move.

•• At this time the High should also engage (you should hear it).

9 DashboardDashboard LightLight IndicatorIndicator

•• ““OKOK TOTO PUMPPUMP”” lightlight shouldshould illuminateilluminate onon thethe dashboarddashboard behindbehind thethe steeringsteering .wheel.

•• Note – Do NOT up if light is not on.

• Note – If light is illuminated and Throttle does not operate, ensure Throttle is locked out by turning it to the right until it clicks twice to reset the throttle, then attempt again. 12 EngineerEngineer’’ss PanelPanel LightsLights

13 PressurePressure GaugeGauge

• Main Pump Gauge should read around 50 psi at idle (if pumping from the or if there is in the pump).

• Note – If pumping at draft with an empty pump, the pressure gauge will read 0 psi.

• Note – If pumping from a hydrant, and already connected with keystone already open, this pressure will be higher than the gauge / compound gauge.

14 FlowingFlowing WaterWater

•• After the main fire pump is engaged, hose lines connected, and discharge gates opened: •• Throttle up to desired pressure (turn Throttle to the left).

•• Set Relief Valve

15 CheckCheck AllAll GaugesGauges

• Vacuum / Compound Gauge • Pressure Gauge • Tachometer • • Oil Pressure • Engine • Transmission Temperature • Manifold Discharge Pressure Gauges • Large Diameter Discharge Pressure Gauges (ALL) • Relief Valve Setting

16 ShuttingShutting DownDown

•• When operation is completed:

•• Throttle down (turn to right) to desired pressure or until Throttle clicks twice for idle.

•• Close discharge gates

•• Return Relief Valve to highest setting.

•• TGR = Throttle, Gates, Relief

17 DisengagingDisengaging PumpPump

•• ReturnReturn toto thethe cab.cab. •• DisengageDisengage RoadRoad TransmissionTransmission –– returnreturn toto neutralneutral ““NN”” byby pressingpressing ““NN”” onon thethe RoadRoad TransmissionTransmission selectorselector pad.pad. •• EnsureEnsure thethe indicatorindicator displaysdisplays ““NN”” overover ““NN””..

19 DisengageDisengage PumpPump TransmissionTransmission

Unlock (by squeezing) and slide the pump power shift lever from the “lower - PUMP” position up to the “middle” position.

To avoid any grinding, pause in the “middle” position for 4 to 5 seconds.

Then continue to shift the pump power shift lever upward and into “ROAD”.

There should be a slight air release sound during the shifting, but it should stop upon completion.

Note – “Pump Engaged Light” is out. 20 TurningTurning OffOff EngineEngine // MotorMotor

•• Switch the ignition switch from the “ON” position to the “OFF” position.

•• Note – It may be necessary to allow the engine / motor to idle for 3 minutes prior to turning it off (if the Engine Temperature gauge reads near or above 200 °F).

21 BatteryBattery SwitchSwitch

•• EnsureEnsure batterybattery switchswitch isis turnedturned toto ““OFFOFF””..

22 PumpPump EngagedEngaged IndicatorsIndicators

• “Pump Engaged Light” on Pump Transmission Lever Panel illuminates

• Road Transmission locks into “4” over “4”

• Dashboard “OK TO PUMP” light illuminates

• Speedometer reads around 20 MPH with no vehicle movement

• High fan engages (noise increases)

• Manual Override Lever on Engineer’s Panel extends out

• “OK TO PUMP” light on Engineer’s Panel illuminates

• “Pump Light” at top of Engineer’s Panel illuminates

• Pressure Gauge displays around 50 psi at idle (if water in pump)
