German Márquez pitched six innings and allowed three runs on 10 hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts … the 10 strikeouts tie his career high (third time, last: Aug. 29, 2017 vs. Detroit) … he became the fourth pitcher (fifth time) in Rockies history to make a start in which he allowed 10 or more hits while recording 10 or more strikeouts (last: Jon Gray, May 13, 2018 vs. Milwaukee) … pitched an immaculate inning (three strikeouts on nine pitches) in the fourth, the second immaculate inning in Rockies history (also: Rex Brothers, June 14, 2014 at San Francisco) … recorded a single in the third inning, his 15th hit of the season … he is the first Rockies pitcher to reach the 15-hit plateau since Shawn Estes and Jason Jennings each recorded 17 hits in 2004. Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-5, his second consecutive multi-hit game after going 1-for-22 over his five previous games. David Dahl hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, his first since his August 5 recall from Triple-A Albuquerque. Pirates Notes The Pittsburgh Pirates won their third consecutive road series, and are 7-2 over their last nine road games. Chris Archer pitched five innings and allowed two runs on two walks with three strikeouts and one home run … it was his second start since his July 31 trade to Pittsburgh from Tampa Bay … is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA (9.1 IP, 5 ER), six walks and nine strikeouts across his two starts with the Pirates. Josh Bell was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list prior to the game and extended hit hitless streak to 0-for-12. Adam Frazier recored a season-high tying three hits (fifth time, last: Aug. 3 vs. St. Louis). Colin Moran went 2-for-5 … each of his last 19 hits have been singles … has not hit for extra bases since he hit a double July 9 vs. Washington. 2021 swb railriders 2021 swb railriders triple-a information On February 12, 2021, Major League Baseball announced its new plan for affiliated baseball, with 120 Minor League clubs officially agreeing to join the new Professional Development League (PDL). In total, the new player development system includes 179 teams across 17 leagues in 43 states and four provinces. Including the AZL and GCL, there are 209 teams across 19 leagues in 44 states and four provinces. That includes the 150 teams in the PDL and AZL/GCL along with the four partner leagues: the American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League and Pioneer League. The long-time Triple-A structure of the International and Pacific Coast Leagues have been replaced by Triple-A East and Triple-A West. Triple-A East consists on 20 teams; all 14 from the International League, plus teams moving from the Pacific Coast League, the Southern League and the independent Atlantic League. Triple-A West is comprised of nine Pacific Coast League teams and one addition from the Atlantic League. These changes were made to help reduce travel and allow Major League teams to have their affiliates, in most cases, within 200 miles of the parent club (or play at their Spring Training facilities). triple-a clubs & affiliates midwest northeast southeast e Columbus (Cleveland Indians) Buffalo (Toronto Blue Jays) Charlotte (Chicago White Sox) Indianapolis (Pittsburgh Pirates) Lehigh Valley (Philadelphia Phillies) Durham (Tampa Bay Rays) a Iowa (Chicago Cubs) Rochester (Washington Nationals) Gwinnett (Atlanta Braves) s Louisville (Cincinnati Reds) Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre (New York Yankees) Jacksonville (Miami Marlins) Omaha (Kansas City Royals) Syracuse (New York Mets) Memphis (St.

  • How Baseball's Arm Whisperer Fixes Broken Pitchers
How Baseball’s Arm Whisperer Fixes Broken Pitchers Ivan Nova’s unexpected resurgence marks yet another successful reclamation project for the Pittsburgh Pirates under the tutelage of pitching coach Ray Searage. By: Jared Diamond- The Wall Street Journal Pittsburgh In today’s data-driven, power-centric version of baseball, starting pitchers tend to follow a similar formula: They throw as hard as they can for as long as they can, racking up strikeouts until they reach the 100-pitch mark, usually around the sixth inning or so. The days of one man owning the mound for 27 outs ended long ago. But it seems Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Ivan Nova never received that message. Upon arriving here in a trade with the New York Yankees last August, he has emerged as the ultimate throwback, dominating opposing lineups in a manner hardly seen for decades. In his first 15 outings for Pittsburgh, Nova completed four, more than anyone else during that span. Even more improbable, in 91 2/3 innings of work, he has issued just four total walks. That means when Nova pitches, he is equally likely to go the distance as he is to miss the strike zone four times to a given batter. “A lot of guys like to strike out everybody,” said Nova, who is scheduled to start Saturday night in Miami. “I like seeing all those ground balls and quick outs. It makes me more happy than getting 10 strikeouts.” Nova’s unexpected resurgence marks yet another successful reclamation project for the Pirates, who, under the tutelage of pitching coach Ray Searage, have reached the playoffs in three of the past four years.
