MOUNTAIN HIKE MAYRHOFEN - ASTEGG - BURGSTALL (RUNDWANDERWEG)

The start is at the bottom of the cable car station Penkenbahn. From here you follow the street to the Rauchenwaldgasse. Please turn right and walk the street up till the subway, which you walk through. Next you turn left and walk over a bridge (Kohlstattbrücke). You follow the trail Mariensteig which takes you to Astegg. You turn right through the Asteggertal downwards to Burgstall. Along the river "Ziller" you can walk back to Mayrhofen.

You start your hiking trail from the bottom of the cable car station Penkenbahn. First you follow the main street up to the Hotel Brücke (you cross the bridge). After the bridge turn right till the junction Rauchenwaldgasse (opposite of the Hotel Jägerhof). Please turn right again and walk the street up. After walking down you come to the Umfahrungsstraße – go through the subway. Next you turn left and walk over a bridge (Kohlstattbrücke). Follow the trail nr. 12, which is rising slightly, till you come to the junction Astegg. After 20 minutes you get to a junction again. Follow the trail nr. 26 to Finkenberg. After an hour walking you come to an house. Here is a diversion. You keep straight on, direction Astegg. A short departure takes you in a few minutes to the Gasthaus Astegg. Here you can make a break. Continue your hike and turn right – direction Burgstall. You walk along the Asteggertal, which is descending slightly, till you arrive the path nr. 2. Along the path you cross another trail which takes you down to Burgstall or back to Mayrhofen.
