TEAM NOTES:

SCHEDULE LIGHTENS UP The Pittsburgh Penguins played 13 of their first 19 games on the road. During that same span, the team played six sets of back-to-back games. Beginning tonight against Buffalo, the schedule will begin to balance out over the next month-plus. Between tonight’s meeting with Buffalo and a December 27 home game against Columbus, the Penguins will play 13 of 19 games at PPG Paints Arena. Only twice in that span – Nov. 24 at Boston/Nov. 25 vs. Tampa Bay and Dec. 1 at Buffalo/Dec. 2 vs. Buffalo – will the Penguins have to play a back-to-back.

PENS TO HONOR MILITARY VETERANS TONIGHT Pittsburgh Penguins players will wear commemorative camouflage jerseys in the pre-game warmup tonight as part of the team’s annual Veterans Day celebration at PPG Paints Arena. The jerseys will be autographed by the players after the game and auctioned online, with proceeds benefitting the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania. The auction will run from November 14 through November 27 at www.pittsburghpenguinsfoundation.org.

Among the team’s other initiatives to honor our military veterans are:

• The Penguins will host 15 veterans during the morning skate, representing various local organizations as selected by the Veterans Leadership Program. Penguins players will present personalized jerseys to those 15 veterans, followed by a group photo in the locker room. • Fans are encouraged to visit the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum exhibit that will be located in the Highmark Wall of Champions hallway (behind Section 112) on game night. The display will be a timeline that will include uniforms, medals and artifacts from the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean Conflict, Vietnam, the Cold War and post 9-11 veterans. • The Penguins will hold a symbolic empty “Seat of Honor” in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and those who continue to serve our country away from home. The seat will be located in Section 116, Row X, Seat 11. • There will be a special Veterans Day-themed opening video prior to the traditional video pre-game presentation. The United States Air Force will present the colors, and the national anthem will be performed by USAF Technical Sergeant Keisha Gwin. • Members of the Penguins Ice Crew will wear “Rags of Honor” apparel during the game. The Chicago-based “Rags of Honor” organization provides employment and services to homeless veterans. A portion of the proceeds from “Rags of Honor” merchandise sold Tuesday night at PensGear will benefit the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania and their housing assistance program for local veterans. • Fans are encouraged to use #PensThanks leading up to and during Tuesday’s game to honor a hero. Share a photo with an active- duty, reserved, veteran or retired service member to show your appreciation for all of their sacrifices for our freedom. • As a reminder, the Penguins are proud to offer discounted tickets to active-duty, reserved, veteran, and retired service members and first responders in partnership with GovX.com. Please visit pittsburghpenguins.com/militarytickets or call 1.800.642.PENS to learn more.

MILESTONE ALERT When Kris Letang records his next point, he will become the 12th player in franchise history to reach 400 points. More impressively, he will join (440) as the only defensemen in that exclusive club. On Saturday night in Nashville, Letang appeared in his 622nd career game, which moved him past Ron Stackhouse into sole possession of second place on the team’s all-time games played list by a defenseman. Brooks Orpik is first on that list with 703 games played.

MATT AT HOME Goalie Matt Murray has thrived at PPG Paints Arena during his young career, as his career regular-season record here is 26-4-4, and his overall record (regular season and playoffs) is 39-6-4. Dating back to last year, and including the playoffs, Murray has run off a 13- game home regulation unbeaten stretch (12-0-1). Since allowing five goals on 34 shots in 61:15 minutes in the Pens’ 5-4 win on opening night, Murray has rattled off a five- game home winning streak, giving up a total of just six goals in that span (152 saves/158 shots). His goals-against average is 1.19 and his save percentage is .962.

KESSEL’S HOT STREAK Phil Kessel, who leads the Penguins in goals (7), assists (15) and points (22) this season, enters tonight riding a season-high three- game goal-scoring streak. Last season, from Feb. 9-16, he ran off a four-game goal-scoring streak that is currently his longest scoring tear as a Pen. Kessel has also scored goals in three-straight home games, and points in five-straight home games (3G-2A-5PTS) entering tonight. Kessel’s three-game home goal-scoring streak is tied for his longest run since joining the Penguins.

RANDOM HODGE PODGE *Head coach Mike Sullivan is closing in on 100 regular-season victories with the Penguins. Only three others – Dan Bylsma (252 wins), Eddie Johnston (232) and Michel Therrien (135) – have reached triple figures behind Pittsburgh’s bench. Bylsma earned 100 wins the fastest (163 games), followed by Therrien (203 games). Thus far, Sullivan has coached 155 games behind Pittsburgh’s bench. *Phil Kessel became the second active American-born player, and 18th all-time, to score 300 career goals with his overtime tally on October 26 against Winnipeg. *Tom Kuhnhackl is the only Pens’ player to record points at even strength, on the power play and shorthanded this year. *Kris Letang joined Paul Coffey (332) as the only defensemen in franchise history to notch 300 assists when Letang set up Jake Guentzel’s goal on Oct. 12 at Tampa Bay.

FAST FACTS FROM #NSHvsPIT *This contest was the Pens’ first shootout of the season (19th game of the year). Since shootouts were instituted in 2005-06, the only other season the Penguins went longer before their first shootout of the year was 2006-07 (20th game). *Bryan Rust opened the scoring by recording the first shorthanded goal of his career. *Evgeni Malkin picked up an assist to extend his point streak to three games (1G-4A). He can equal his season-long point streak with a point tonight.

The Hockey Hall of Famer and former Sabres defenseman is the seventh alumnus to serve as the team’s head coach.

Housley joined the Sabres after helping to guide the Nashville Predators to their first ever Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2016. Named an assistant coach on May 22, 2013, Housley was a driving force behind one of the NHL’s best defensive groups throughout his tenure.

A native of South St. Paul, Minnesota, Housley began his coaching career in 2004 as head coach of Stillwater Area High School in Minnesota. During his nine seasons at the helm, Housley turned around the school’s program while also accepting numerous opportunities to coach for Team USA at the international level.
