Italy has an unrivaled artistic and musical heritage, nowadays displayed in opera houses, theaters and outdoor festivals. It also hosts historical pageants, medieval-style tournaments, colorful religious rituals, contemporary art events, cinema festivals and unusual traditional spectacles. Italy offers something for everyone who wants to add or plan a special touch to their journey.

LEARN THE ART OF ITALIAN FLAG-WAVERS Have you ever been enchanted by a group of flag-wavers? Get your chance to let it happen! Enjoy a lesson on “flag-waving” to try and preserve the prerogatives of adherence to the Italian historical and folkloristic tradition.

MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE RE-ENACTMENTS Come and visit the warehouses where the medieval and renaissance costumes are scrupulously preserved and stored. Get to know what the figures use when they animate the local historical parades. Experience the emotion of wearing these historical clothes and, if you're lucky, take part in a historical parade.

MAKE YOUR OWN VENETIAN MASK DURING CARNIVAL PERIOD After a lesson on the real meaning and metaphorical purposes of masks in history, make your own souvenir mask in a studio near Piazza San Marco: an artisan will guide you through this experience. You will not just attend a mask making demonstration, but play an active role by crafting your mask yourself. If you are in Venice during Venice Carnival, participate to this special and crazy festival and walk around the ancient calles (alleys) with your own mask!

SPELLO FLOWERS CARPETS FESTIVALS The “Flower Carpets Festival of Spello” is a unique breathtaking event, which takes place every year in the night of the religious Bank Holiday of “Corpus Domini” (between Saturday and Sunday). Religion, tradition and art mix together giving birth to a real unrepeatable happening. Immerse yourself in the charm of the city center the day before “Corpus Domini”: you will admire the whole citizenship of Spello committed to the creation of huge flower carpets all over the streets of the city center, which is inhibited to traffic and becomes an “open air museum”. People of all ages are frenetically busy preparing a huge amount of petals, cutting flowers: they have only one night to cover the streets of the whole city with wonderful floral depictions in a race against time! On Sunday morning you’ll take part in the judgment of the best creation and if you want in the Corpus Domini procession along the decorated streets. (spot activity)
