Wine Host Bio: Scott Scheid, President & CEO, Scheid Family Wines Scott Scheid grew up in Southern California in the town of Costa Mesa. After receiving a B.A. in Economics from Claremont McKenna College, he moved to and became an options trader with E.F. Hutton & Co. In 1986, after a successful stint on Wall Street, Scott was invited by his father to join what would soon become the family business. During his over three decades with the family business, Scott has overseen the company’s growth to eleven sustainably-certified estate vineyards comprising over 4,000 acres and a state-of-the-art estate winery that is 100% powered by wind from the company’s wind turbine which came on line in 2017. Scheid Family Wines distributes a national portfolio of wines including District 7, Metz Road, VDR, Stokes’ Ghost, Ryder Estate and others. A separate Reserve Winery crafts the Scheid family’s flagship wine, Scheid Vineyards, which was first introduced with the 1989 vintage. Scott is an ardent supporter of California wine. He served as a director of the California Association of Winegrape Growers for nine years and as President of Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association. He is a member of the International Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine, Monterey Chapter. Scott also serves on the Monterey Jazz Festival board of directors. He met his wife, Nancy, at a Los Angeles jazz club in 1991 and they attended their first Monterey Jazz Festival the same year. They haven’t missed one since! Scott and Nancy support student jazz education programs that help foster the next generation of this uniquely American genre. Scott and Nancy have two daughters and reside in Monterey County, California.
