FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 16, 2008 BOULEVARD CASINO PRESENTS RICK SPRINGFIELD LIVE AT THE RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE FRIDAY, APRIL 10 It was back in 1981 after years of struggling when the stars perfectly aligned and Rick Springfield found himself sitting on top of the world. In the midst of recording what would become the quintessential pop-rock album, Working Class Dog, the Australian born singer, songwriter and actor was cast to play the role of “Dr. Noah Drake” on the #1 daytime drama, ABC’s “General Hospital.” That same year, MTV debuted and changed the dynamic of the music industry forever … with the release of the album, Rick quickly skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard’s charts with “Jessie’s Girl,” “I’ve Done Everything for You” and “Love Is Alright Tonite.” The following year, Rick won a Grammy for “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance” and released Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet. The album produced a string of Top 40 hits including “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “What Kind of Fool Am I” and “I Get Excited.” He was then nominated for a second Grammy. After leaving “General Hospital” in 1983, he recorded and released Living in Oz which went platinum resulting in the hits, “Affair of the Heart,” “Human Touch” and “Souls.” In 1984, he made his big screen debut in the film, Hard to Hold which featured his song, “Love Somebody” … the single which was also featured on the soundtrack album hit #5 on the Billboard singles chart. It was right there and then that Rick had solidified himself as the preeminent power-pop artist. Rick went on to release six more albums … his most recent album, Venus In Overdrive was released this past July and features the single, “What’s Victoria’s Secret?” Additional credits include a starring role on the CBS action series, “The Human Target” in 1992 and on the syndicated adventure series, “High Tide” from 1994 to 1997. He was an original cast member of the Broadway musical, Smokey Joe’s Café in 1995 and also starred in and wrote two songs for the Las Vegas show, EFX Alive at the MGM Grand in 2001 and 2002. Today he continues to make appearances on “General Hospital” (he returned in 2005) and as well, still performs to sold-out audiences across North America attracting new fans with his unique brand of audience interaction, unstoppable energy and unforgettable songs that have become part of the soundtrack to people’s lives. Rick will be singing his hits for one night only at the Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in April, 2009.
