The reclusive new wave band usually doesn't tour much as original founder Mark Mothersbaugh has since moved on to creating commercials and soundtracks at his Los Angeles production company Mutato Muzika (that fantastically weird space-ship-looking building on Sunset Boulevard) along with the other Devo members save Jerry Casale who has been directing videos for such bands as the Foo Fighters and Soundgarden. However, this summer Devo got together and played limited dates all across the country--and this fall they released Live 1980, a full-length concert video shot at the Phoenix Theatre in Petaluma, CA on August 17, 1980. Complete with white uniforms, blue background screen and "energy domes" (don't you dare call them flower-pot hats), Devo play the hits off of their albums, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We are Devo!, Duty Now For the Future and Freedom of Choice. Twenty-one songs are featured in this 75-minute disc including the classic MTV staple "Whip It", the oft-covered "Girl U Want", and their own covers of Johnny River's classic "Secret Agent Man" and the Rolling Stones "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction".

‘NORMAN ROCKWELL’S SHUFFLETON’S BARBERSHOP’ PRODUCTION BIOS BRUCE JOHNSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) – A multiple Emmy® Award winner, Bruce D. Johnson has been a writer, producer and studio executive in Hollywood for over 25 years. During that time, he has produced and delivered over 40 movies. In 2012 he developed and produced “Finding Mrs. Claus,” an original Lifetime Movie starring Oscar winner Mira Sorvino, Will Sasso and Laura Vandervoort. A romantic comedy set in Las Vegas and the North Pole, the film was one of Lifetime’s highest rated movies of 2012. Johnson is known as a specialist in producing high quality family entertainment. Just out of film school, he began his career making documentaries, including an Emmy®-nominated documentary about the legendary animation team of Joe Barbera and Bill Hanna. As an executive producer at Hanna-Barbera in the mid- 1980s, Johnson supervised a renaissance of classic remakes at the renowned animation studio, overseeing production of such iconic properties as “The Jetsons,” “YogiBear,” “Jonny Quest” and many others, reporting directly to Joe Barbera. In seven years, he rose from director of development to executive vice president & general manager, ultimately managing all of the businesses and production at the studio. When Turner purchased Hanna-Barbera, Johnson was the only executive retained. Working directly with the team in Atlanta, Johnson was responsible for integrating Hanna-Barbera into Turner’s worldwide distribution system and helped launch the Cartoon Network in the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Asia. Returning to his producing roots, Johnson founded PorchLight Entertainment in 1994 and built the company into a premier family entertainment company, supervising the development and production of over 35 TV movies for such networks as Lifetime, Showtime, Family Channel, Disney Channel, Pax, NBC and Animal Planet.

  • Introduction
INTRODUCTION Looking at various newspapers, magazines and websites over the period 2004 to the present, it becomes apparent that our understanding of the reintroduction of stereoscopy (D3D) is anything but clear. There are disagreements among accounts of D3D regarding its artistic value, and its impact on the entertainment industry and audience. Over the 2004 to the present period, the digital screen period, I have seen D3D cast as an evolutionary step for the industry: ‘Why wouldn’t we want this Darwinian edge in our workplaces, in our sports and entertainment, in all our peak visual experiences?’ (Cameron in Cohen, 2008). I have seen it described as ‘the next great revolution’ of cinema (Giles & Katzenberg, 2010, p. 10) and as a facilitator of art, one that could aid the audience to enter the realm of the on-screen performer (Wenders in James, 2011, p. 22). I have also seen it described as artistically limited, with claims, such as, director, Werner Herzog’s ‘[that] you can shoot a porno film in 3D, but you cannot film a romantic comedy in 3D’ (Herzog in Wigley, 2011, p. 29). Newspaper headlines have described it as a health concern: ‘3D film strikes two movie-goers with bout of motion sickness’ (Helliwell, 2010, p. 2).2 As well, I have seen arguments expounding the idea that stereoscopy’s reintroduction is simply evidence that the popular film industry lacks ideas. For example, popular film critic, Roger Ebert, has argued that D3D was just ‘[a]nother Hollywood infatuation with a technology that was already pointless when their grandfathers played with stereoscopes’ (Ebert, 2010a).
