Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge

Designated trails, roads, and parking areas are open to visitor access from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week and are open most federal holidays (closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day). The Visitor Center is open Wednesday – Sunday from 9:00am to 4:00pm (closed on all federal holidays).

To protect wildlife and habitat, visitor access is limited to designated trails and roads only, all other Refuge lands and staff roads are closed to visitor entry.

Refuge Regulations

Refuge Fishing Season is open from the first Saturday in April to November 30.  Fishing is permitted on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday from legal sunrise to sunset.  Anglers ages 16 years and older must possess:  A valid Colorado State fishing license.  Signed Refuge fishing permit and regulations. Fishing permits are available at the Visitor Center, fishing fee stations, and Refuge website.  Daily fishing fee receipt or seasonal fishing pass. Payments can be made at self-serve fishing fee stations located at the Contact Station, South Ladora and North Ladora kiosks.  High School and college students can fee free with a current student identification card.  Catch and release fishing only.  Bank fishing only is permitted at Lake Mary and Lake Ladora.  Wade fishing only is permitted in Lake Ladora after Memorial Day.  Anglers are permitted to use one rod and reel or pole and line with one hook per line. A second rod and reel or pole and line with one hook per line is permitted with a Colorado issued second rod stamp.  All anglers must use barbless hooks.  Only artificial lures and flies are permitted on Lake Ladora.  Artificial lures, flies, and bait; also cut bait and food products are permitted on Lake Mary.  Live bait is prohibited on all Refuge waters.

Prohibited activities include, but not limited to:  Chumming, , , seining, and netting of non-hooked fish.  Use of boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, paddle boards, and other flotation devices.  Possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages.  Camping or overnight parking on the Refuge.  Swimming and bathing in all Refuge waters.  Abandonment of property (littering and dumping).
