SMSU THIS WEEK Sports Information Contact: Ryan Sweeter November 17, 2010 THURSDAY, NOV. 18; FROST ARENA BROOKINGS, S.D. – Looking to build on the progress made last season, the SDSU • vs. Southwest Minnesota State - 7 p.m. men opened the 2010-11 season last Friday night on the road with a 67-55 win at Eastern Illinois, and then followed that up with an impressive showing at Iowa, TUESDAY, NOV. 23; FROST ARENA where the Jacks came away with a 79-69 win, thus spoiling the season-opener for • vs. Idaho State - 7 p.m. the Hawkeyes and the debut of new Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery. Clint Sargent led the Jacks with 19 points in the season-opening win over NEXT UP Eastern Illinois, Dale Moss added 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Nate SATURDAY, NOV. 27; FROST ARENA Wolters rounded out the Jacks double figure scorers with 11 points. • vs. Eastern Illinois - 7 p.m. The Jacks wrapped up a perfect season-opening road trip with a hard-fought win over Iowa on Sunday afternoon, thanks to a career day from Wolters, who led the TUESDAY, NOV. 30; FROST ARENA Jackrabbits with a career-high 25 points and a career-high nine assists in the win. • vs. Nevada - 7 p.m. Sargent added 16 points and Moss 10 for the Jacks. The announcers for the Jackrabbit flagship station have a 135 mile trip, one-way, for South Dakota State home games. WNAX reaches into parts of seven states and provides broad coverage in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. STEVE IMMING, SPORTS DIRECTOR – St. Louis native Steve Imming returns for his seventh year as “Voice of the Jackrabbits". Imming became sports director at WNAX in July of 1992. The 53-year-old Imming is a graduate of Creighton University with a degree in journalism. Imming has won the South Dakota Associated Press Broadcasters Sportscast of the Year award the past five years. His prior radio experience includes Waynesville and Rolla, Missouri; Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Omaha, Nebraska. Following his under- graduate studies at Creighton, Imming spent four years with the U.S. Air Force, 1967-71, and served as Sports Director of the Armed Forces Thailand Network. He worked at Sodrac Park and several other large greyhound tracks across the country in the late 1970's and 80's. Imming was co-host of the Greyhound Race of Champions on ESPN in 1985 and on Sports Channel in 1986.
