The Forum was represented in the 'Tigers Forever' conference organized by the Panthera in Indonesia, during July, 2014. The sixth General Assembly was organized as a back to back event, during the second Global tiger Stocktaking conference on 16 September at Dhaka. The said assembly was well attended by member, non members, experts and organizations. The inaugural session was graced by the Hon'ble Deputy Minister of Environment and Forests, who released several important reports and publications of the Forum, viz. Action Tiger (3rd edition), Global tiger Atlas and Bibliography on tiger. These were done in collaboration with India, Nepal, WWF and IFAW. The GTF also offered its portfolio of services to TRCs, in conformity with the St Petersburg declaration and the Thimphu Affirmative Nine Point Action Agenda. The Forum committed itself to work in close coordination with like minded organizations for serving as a 'single window' platform to provide technical and resource support to TRCs. The General Assembly was also appraised of the appointment of the new Secretary General of the Forum, and Bhutan was elected as the new Chair. A delegation from the Forum visited the Clemson University (USA) for formalizing a MOU to assist the TRCs. Several important meetings happened during this period, which are important to tiger conservation. The Second annual meeting of SAWEN was held in Nepal during August, and the meeting of the Standing Committee of the CITES in November (2014). The enthusiasm and response from TRCs and members were reassuring, which is very important for the cause. The Assembly was chaired by India, being Chair country of the Global Tiger Forum. The Assembly was attended by member tiger range countries, non-member tiger range countries, member non-tiger countries, international and national NGOs, International organizations, wildlife experts, scientists, donors and observers. Release of Reports/Compilations: The Deputy Minister of Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of Bangladesh released the following reports/compilations by the GTF Secretariat in collaboration with partners such the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), Government of India, Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation (MFSC), Government of Nepal, Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), International Fund for Animal Welfare and Wildlife Institute of India, during the 6th General Assembly of the Global Tiger Forum: (i) Indo-Nepal Joint Monitoring report (ii) 3rd Edition of Action Tiger (iii) Global Tiger Atlas (iv) Bibliography on Tiger The General Assembly approved the membership of new members in the GTF, MoU with the IUCN, Clemson University, USA, and Virginia Tech Centre for Leadership in Global Sustainability, Arlington, USA. The GTF submitted its offer of “Portfolio of Services” to the Tiger Range Countries on the major issues/ priorities/ thematic areas highlighted in the St. Petersburg Declaration on Tiger Conservation (2010) and the Thimphu Affirmative Nine-Point Action Agenda on Tiger Conservation (2012) and stated that the Secretariat of the Global Tiger Forum (GTF), in close coordination with the Global Tiger initiative (GTI) Secretariat, Clemson University, Open Parks Network and the Wildlife Institute of India, was ready to serve as a “Single Window” platform facilitating technical resource flows between the interested TRCs on the above aspects of GTRP and ready to work as a virtual platform. The GTF formed a Technical Advisory Committee in the field of tiger biology, landscape ecology, protection, trade, community engagement infrastructure and information to cater need of the growing challenges for tiger conservation.
