Maine South High School in Park Ridge has a legacy of legendary drama teachers. Des Plaines resident John Muszynski, who retires this year after 25 years of teaching and directing theatre there, remembers stepping into the footsteps of Don Martello and Hal Chastain who had started the department for the school. Martello offered some ad- vice as he left, Muszynski remembers: don't mess around with V -Show, and don't let the people in the main office know that what you're doing isn't magic. There's always a bit of magic in theatre. Muszynski intended to have a bit of educating in his future career.
