Narratives can take the form of personal narratives, creative fictional stories, memoirs, anecdotes, autobiographies, etc . Christian Cook ____________________________________________________________ Kindergarten, Johnson Elementary Teacher - Cheryl Rogers My Car Caught on Fire! e, my sister Kloie, and my mom were driving in the Mcar to school. My mom smelled some smoke. She thought it was the tires, but it wasn’t. Then the windshield wipers went on by themselves, both ones in the front and the back. My mom pulled over. She opened my door and told me to get out of the car right now! My sister told me to leave my phone in the car, but I grabbed it and put it in my jacket pocket. There was red stuff coming out from the bottom of the car and white smoke coming out from the hood. The smoke was greenish, tealish. Then the car caught on fire! We called 911, and the police and fire truck came. A bike rider stopped and told us to get far away from the car because it was melting. When the fire truck came, they sprayed the water on the fire with a big fire hose. They put the fire out. Kloie was worried because she forgot her five-dollar bill and her phone. I told her that I grabbed her phone and her money and put them in my pocket. My sister screamed because she was super happy. A tow truck came and took our car to the junkyard. It was a coolish-badish day. Narrative ~ 7 Natalie Wolfel ____________________________________________________________ Kindergarten, Las Sendas Elementary Teacher - Rachelle Sears Buddy Pulled My Tooth t school I felt my tooth was loose. When AI got home, I showed Mom and Dad. Then my Dad tied a fish string to my tooth, and Mom helped. Dad tied the other end to Buddy’s collar. I threw Buddy’s bone, and Dad called Buddy, holding a treat. Then, Buddy ran to Dad. Next, my tooth went out. It hit Dad’s forehead! Dad showed me my tooth, and there was blood in my mouth. I put my tooth in the tooth holder, then I put it under my pillow. When I woke up in the morning, the tooth was gone. The tooth fairy came. She took my tooth, left five dollars in the tooth holder, and then she flew away. After the dogs came, my sister started First, we went into the desert, but that chasing after them. My family pretended that Odid not go so well. We were squinting because my sister was not ours! When we were done the sun was too bright. Next, we went to the taking photos on the grass, we went onto the park nearby. On the way to the park, I got a dirt. I did not like it because the muddy dirt lot of pokes and scratches because I walked was getting on my feet. I also had to watch out through a pile of pointy sticks wearing my jelly for the coyote poop. After that, the sprinklers shoes. It was crazy! When we got to the park, turned on! Our family photo shoot this year was no one was there except us. It was so quiet. But very active and crazy, but we did get some great then, the dog people came. It got really, really, pictures after all. Late one night the lice found a cozy eagle’s nest andA crawled right in. Later that night the eagle came by and went into his nest. The next morning eagle’s back was really itchy, so he went to his doctor, Iguana. Iguana said nothing was wrong, but later that day Iguana’s head started to itch. He knew what was wrong right away! Lice! He ran to Eagle right away and told him everything.

Our name says it all. Five years since Shihan passed on January 2nd 2009. It is a mere drop in the bucket for us old timers, training 20, 30 and even 40 years in these arts. We still reach for the phone to tell him some funny thing that happened. We still expect to hear the sonic tongue click calling us to order. We smile fondly as we remember him. However, five years is a significant amount of time really. Beginners become advanced students in five years. We must face the confounding truth; our lower Kyu do not have memories of Shihan. So what do they have? They have us! Our job is to make him a force in their training. The responsibility is ours to tell the stories. Our duty is to make his spirit live. For we are Kokondo and you can’t know us without learning of our founder Shihan Paul Arel. Here are reminiscences from a cross-section of Kokondo-ka, as they share their impressions, stories and tales. Come and meet our Shihan through their eyes. He sat back down at the table with John and passed him one of the cups. “So do you feel ready for this yet” John asked. “I guess so. As ready as I’ll ever be,” replied Frank Frank was less than a week away from taking the California Bar. He had moved out to California a month after graduating from law school back in Ohio. Frank had dreams of working in the music industry as an attorney, and everything he’d learned had strongly suggested his best chances for pursuing that dream would be out West. John had been living in Los Angeles for over a year now. Frank and John grew up together as close friends, despite John being a few years older than Frank. The two always discussed their plans and dreams for their future careers. John had practiced in labor law in California briefly, but after a two-year stint at a firm, he decided to pursue his dream. Since then, he started working as a tour manager and personal manager to several artists. “I just want to get this exam over with,” said Frank. “I can’t stop thinking about it.” “You’ll be fine bud,” John said warmly. “You’ve been studying your ass off.

Centrally, this study asks, how are feminist organizers in Chile engaging music to mobilize artists, audiences, and industries to end patterns of patriarchal oppression? To what extent do feminist musical practices allow participants to navigate, re-sound, and re-envision the physical, social, industrial, and virtual spaces of which they are a part? By examining a diversity of feminist musical practices from the mid-twentieth century to the present, I explain how musical and interpersonal resonances shape feminist coalition-building while also reconfiguring the gender politics of social and geophysical space.

    (2.5 of 4) ―Talk Dirty‖ – a Top 5 hit that spawned a viral, celeb-packed video – is probably this spring‘s jammiest jam. From that moment that hand-clapping, horn-blowing groove kick in, everyone within earshot must assume the twerking position…this is the track that Usher and Chris Brown wish they had made. Derulo keeps the booty beats buping for much of the rest of his third album. (2 of 4 stars) the hypnotic slow wind of Wiggle, with requisite Snoop Dogg cameo, is sure to be Derulo‘s next radio hit. He delivers a bright performance throughout…Of the known quantities ―Talk Dirty‖ sounds like Macklemore‘s ―Thrift Shop‖ on Red Bull and Viagra, while ―Marry Me‖ shows Derulo‘s tender side. (3 of 4 stars) It‘s Sir Mix-a-Lot, 2014! Jason Derulo is tired of being Mr. Clean…fans will finally be able to see the real him: the down and dirty Jason Derulo. (3 of 5) Get over that crassness and Talk Dirty actually works a bit better than Tattoos… "Marry Me," "The Other Side," and "Vertigo" (with girlfriend Jordan Sparks) are all carried over from Tattoos and make this the best of both worlds, but even with sequencing that's a serious step toward making the album flow well, and Talk Dirty does feel like some post-traumatic stress therapy session mixed with a banging, ultra after-party. Consider it two EPs colliding together, or a bumpy compilation with massive singles, but certainly consider the highlights, and consider the lesser Tattoos a moot point.

How do these experiences impact those who enter formal teacher education programs and Methods courses that promote a more inquiry-oriented way of teaching science? The purpose of this foundational study was to explore the interpretations of five preservice science teachers’ (PSTs) curricular experiences in order to gain a greater understanding directly from the participants about learning to teach in an inquiry-oriented way. Phenomenology was selected as a flexible methodology that enabled access to the “lifeworld” that PSTs had constructed of their experiences within a science Methods course. The inquiry-based methods used within the course also provided the data that ultimately became the bulk of the stories presented in Chapter 4. The methods were selected for their ability to make the PSTs’ thinking visible. The use of “thinking routines” within the context of the Methods course supplied data from the PSTs as they were in the role of a student. The use of the virtual classroom TeachLivE™ supplied data from the PSTs as they were in the role of a teacher.

    Albums accomplish this better than singles, often by exploiting our craving for musical confection to expose us to harder stuff -- savories, meat and potatoes, crusty bread, tropical fruit. One of the two I've had on my mind while writing this is a best-seller. The other is by a 59-year-old who's been taking his 1937 Gibson on the road for decades. Neither has gotten the recognition it deserves. Say hello to Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty" and Hamell on Trial's "The Happiest Man in the World." Granted, Derulo's never all that hard. His third album comprises 11 songs about pragmatically carnal sex so mind-blowing that three times he proposes matrimony behind it. I value both sex and matrimony too much to recommend this life strategy. But compared to the predatory Chris Brown of "Loyal" or the chauvinistic Trey Songz of "Foreign," he's so exuberant and playful he helps me get why guys and dolls fall for it--even share their thrills some, vicariously. And his command of contemporary hookcraft is musicianship aplenty by me. [Talk Dirty] tries to please everyone, and, shockingly, it‘s effective, also managing to give Mr. Derulo something he‘s never before had: a personality. Huge, glossy hits burst forth from this unexpectedly slick and consistently strong album… Throughout this album, Mr. Derulo is naughty and vocally alive, and shows versatility…And impressively, the more unusual the sound, the more Mr. Derulo cottons to it, making ―Talk Dirty‖ the year‘s oddest R&B album and among its most ambitious, though its greatest achievement may be creating a summer soundtrack almost everyone can agree on.
